  • 3 eggs scrambled with american cheese
  • 2 slices of whole wheat toast, dry
  • hot tea

In the lunchbox:
  • V8 Fusion single (strawberry banana) that supplies 1 serving of fruit and 1 serving of veggies
  • peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat (the jelly has sugar, but no high fructose corn syrup)
  • carrot sticks
  • green seedless grapes

After school snack:
  • glass of milk
  • apple

Dinner (just finished):
  • Huge plate of chicken stir fry (chicken breast, onion, garlic, carrot, celery, green beans, peas, fresh spinach)
  • Basmati rice cooked in low sodium chicken stock

There may or may not be a Dove ice cream bar eaten for dessert later.

Lucky kid to have a mom feed him so healthy! Love the number of antioxidants you have in the stir fry!

Question to all

Hi, folks.

I just realized that my participating in the thread may be an intrusion.

I do not have a problem with my weight (i.e. I am in the "healthy weight zone", for my body structure).

However, I have a long history of not eating healthy (well, ok, when single not eating healthy), and I am currently very interested in nutrition due to recent health problems (as mentioned in another post). Since this thread does focus on healthy eating quite a bit, I am very interested in reading it, and also like adding thoughts here and there.

I guess I am wondering if I may be here as a healthy weight loss ally and a nutrition learner/participant? Oh, and being held accountable for daily exercise (as that is important to my continued health, per doctor...for more reasons than just a healthy weight), would be helpful to me too!

Truly won't be offended if people would like to keep this to a closed weight loss group...it is, after all, the point of the thread!

Thinker 09-02-2011 07:03 AM

Zero weight change. I'm now convinced it's the weight training. I just started increased cardio this week, so I think that's going to make a difference.

4.4 pounds to my first goal weight.

Good morning Dapper! Well of course we would love to have you join us... and look forward to you input!

Medusa 09-02-2011 08:29 AM

I love me a good ally! Welcome, Dapper!

I sneaked a peak this morning at the scales and have lost .2 pounds this week. I weighed in last Sunday and was exactly the same and was feeling kinda sad but not discouraged. I ramped up my exercise this week for sure and am following my food plan (mostly). My official weigh-in is on Sunday so hopefully I can get the rest of that pound off!

My weight loss patter has been this so far:

week1 - Lose a pound
week2 - lose a pound
week 3 - lose a pound
week 4 - gain a pound
week 5- hold steady
week 6 - hold steady
week 7 - lose 3-5 pounds
week 8 - lose 2 pounds

And then I start alllll back over with the cycle. It looks like my body does its reajustment for about 3 weeks, which can be frustrating, but looks like it's just how things are going to roll with me. I'll take it!

Scorp 09-02-2011 09:03 AM

Well, we are in MN and having a blast. We are headed for the Minnesota State Fair in a bit and I may splurge a little bit and try not to make a slob out of myself. I've been doing pretty well and don't want to mess it up.

Tomorrow is weigh-in day, but, I do want to have a few sweets today that I love having at the fair like cotton candy and sno cones and a candy apple.

I just found out they have caprese salad on a stick! Bahahaha, but...that will be lunch because it's healthy...As far as the fried stuff...Nope...not going there.

Ciao! (not CHOW) :raspberry:

Lord...I just read that as Welcome Diaper!! LMMFAO

I need damn bifocals....

Good morning,

Today is a mini-milestone for me: I officially hit the 50% mark. Yep, one half of me is gone for good, It's strange thinking of a whole other full sized person standing next to me and leaving. Good riddance!

Hey Dapper, good to see you jump in. I'll be interesting in bouncing some nutrition ideas off of you. Given your situation, I'll look forward to seeing some of the fruits of your labor research-wise.

Thinker; I ran across an article yesterday you might find of interest; it's here.

Everyone be good, I'm off to the beach, very sunny day today.

:theisland:

citybutch 09-02-2011 10:35 AM

I am starting up again with my weight loss plan.... I had some good luck from May-end of July... and I lost about 14 pounds with exercise and following Weight Watchers online.

and then I got stuck... probably due to stress.

So... here I am again... starting over. The 14 pounds are still off but getting back to it is hard... and now it is a long weekend!

Anyway, just thought I would jump in somewhere!

We got one right!!! :)

My wife and I have an ongoing joke about us/between us about how we have SO MANY GREAT ideas.......that happen to be screw ups.......but SURELY the NEXT great idea will do the trick!! If our cat could talk about when she had the feeding tube and all our great ideas about how to make her more comfortable. :|

Anyway...

THANK YOU!!

We had already made the move to focusing on cardio (jogging, in particular) to drop the last of our unwanted pounds. This article is reassuring!

Was I that obvious that my belly fat was a real thorn for me??? ;)

Thanks again and enjoy the beach!!

Thinker 09-02-2011 11:25 AM

Today's jog/walk effort yielded a 41:30 with a total jog time of 26:30.

I don't know where this person came from who is able to jog more than 3 minutes at a time. Aliens must've taken over!!

Corkey 09-02-2011 12:37 PM

Don't forget hormonal cycles are going to play tease the hell outta the person on the scale.

I tend to not do the weigh in's but once a month, preferably not when you know who is due, who hasn't visited in well over a year but the water weight is still an issue.

PinkieLee 09-02-2011 12:39 PM

Like Medusa, and I'm sure many others, I would lose consistantly for a few weeks (1 or 2 pounds) then hit a lull for a couple of weeks. Then BAM... I'ld pull of a 3 pound loss.

Because I'm a creature of habit, I tend to eat a lot of the same meals day after day. Perhaps that has something to do with it... who knows. Those couple of weeks where I'm at a standstill are honestly my hardest times. I sometimes start second guessing myself. Luckily, D will remind me of the rollercoaster ride my body likes to take from time to time... so I don't stay discouraged too long.

So, with it being a long holiday weekend for most folks, with cookouts or parties with friends, what are you gonna do to stay on track? We are headed to the lake this weekend with some friends. Most of the meals will be grilled, so I'm not too worried about that. I'm heading to the store today, to stock up on fruit, BAKED chips, popcorn, and some celery & carrot sticks (all great snack foods). I'm also gonna try the 94% fat free Hebrew National hot dogs... everyone has been raving about them. Instead of using a bun, I'm gonna wrap it with a wheat tortilla.

Although, I might let myself splurge with ONE smores ;)

PinkieLee 09-02-2011 12:47 PM

Ok, food for today was...

Breakfast:
a toasted bagel thin with a lil' butter
a plum
a small sugar free vanilla iced coffee (yeah, it's damn near impossible for me to give these up... luckily they are only 2 points)

Lunch:
my FAVORITE fast food salad
http://www.burgerbusiness.com/wp-con...ChickSalad.jpg

Medusa 09-02-2011 01:24 PM

This has been my food for today:

Breakfast:
a chunk of shaved cajun turkey breast (I was feeling the need for protein!)
a banana
water

Snack: Fiber One bar

Lunch: Cajun turkey sandwich on thin wheat bread with smoky cheddar (I splurged on the real stuff because it's THAT good!)

SnacK: Pluot

Dinner: Salad with carrot, bell pepper, onion, fat free cheese, vinagrette
and probably a side of steamed brocolli

Snack: Fuji Apple

I generally eat a lot more food than this but I'm really stressed out right now and finding that it's pissing me off to have to stop to eat when I should be spending my time doing other stuff! Still, making time because we gotta have nutrition!

Scorp 09-02-2011 07:24 PM

OK...well I totally blew it today...I most likely WILL NOT weigh-in tomorrow knowing I ate like pacman at the fair today....I made a slob of myself and ate the shit I wasn't suppose to...

Scorp, comin' clean...

Make you a deal....I'll weigh in if you do.

Running on very little sleep, coupled with all of the stress of my mother going back into the hospital (after about 12 calls from concerned friends with conflicting information trying to get to the bottom of what's going on and trying to get real information on late Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend when the authorization to release information hasn't "found" the file yet.....)

Well...it's enough to say that I started the day really good....and have, since then, consumed 2 lunch size bags of doritos, a 12 oz. Dr. Pepper (real, not diet) and that there is a small black olive and mushroom pizza headed my way.

Cowboi 09-02-2011 08:03 PM

I dropped another 2.5 pounds this past week!!!!

Well color me amazed...even though I resorted to the "depending on food to cope" mode yesteday evening, this morning's official weigh in shows a loss of 1-1/2 lbs.

That brings me to 9 lbs. gone in 3 weeks since changing my eating (with one major slip up). :)

I'm back on track this morning, and feeling much better after forcing myself to have a sleep in, too.

Scorp 09-03-2011 10:01 AM

Heya Jo, as much as I would like to say yes, NO DEAL. I'm not ready to do it knowing I was real bad yesterday. You don't even want to know what I consumed at the Fair :|

My eyes may fall out of my head if I get on the scale and I don't want that to happen as I'm on vacation at this current time. Still got stuff to see/do and want to enjoy the remaining days without brooding ;)

I'll weigh-in in a few more days when I'm back on track...

It's a new day today!

Today insted of going to the gym and working out I did soemthing diffrent, the place where I now am working is a private gated country club/golf corse/tennis court with a fancy club house with a high end bar in the resturant area. Now being im an employee of the place I have free access to the facilities on the place..so this morning I gathered up my old tennis racket and a huge bucket of balls..minus the half dozen the fur kids are playing with,I spent near a full hour of playing tennis.Since ive been working out I have more wind to breath with and shure developed some leg power to manuver around the court. Its been years since I played but found I can still play a pretty good game after all these years..if dont think about it I can run around the court without falling on my tush or tripin over my #9 feet.Did a lot of sweating shure burned some serious calories just havent taken the time to figure out ho many yet.

sweetfemme247 09-03-2011 11:27 AM

okay so today I did my 30 mins of exercise on the wii, I lost a pound since yesterday haha..... im sweating like crazy, maybe I shouldnt of taken a shower before I did the wii.....:shocking:....... Today Im going through magazine's and writing down my favorite recipes I like so when I move I have them all............ maybe do alittle reading... tonight for dinner Im making pork chops stuffed with jasmine rice and baked, along with a salad and crystal light ice tea.

Leigh 09-03-2011 11:36 AM

Good afternoon everyone! I went out last night to a friend's house to watch a movie before they leave for Scotland this tuesday for two weeks, and they decided to order some pizza for dinner. I had only *one* piece, a small one, which is alot less than I normally have! I avoided that temptation and I'm actually pretty proud of Myself for it :-)

Thinker 09-03-2011 12:27 PM

Logged 54 minutes of walk/jog cardio with the missus this morning.......27 minutes total jog time.

I will be enjoying some Michelob Ultras this evening, so I feel pretty certain I'll take tomorrow off! :D

That's three consecutive days! Woo!!

Sachita 09-03-2011 01:47 PM

I'm in lazy mode. I can't seem to get myself moving. It could be allergies or the humidity but it truly sucks. Normally I cook almost every day but lately I just can't get into it. Personal stress also adding to that, a little sad lately and that always makes me wanna eat cookies. I seriously need to nip this in the bud.

Zimmeh 09-03-2011 05:52 PM

Good Evening Everyone,

I had two small pancakes with one cup of coffee for breakfast. I then had a cup of chocolate soymilk.

Lunch was a peanut butter sandwich and a fiber one bar with a glass of water.

Dinner was two chicken tenderloins marinated with Italian dressing, a small serving of potatoes and green peas.

I had two small pieces of Italian bread with bruschetta on it.

I then went for a four mile power walk and then I came home to have a small bottle of 100% cranberry juice.

Have a great night,

Zimmy

Rockinonahigh 09-03-2011 09:15 PM

All this week its suposed to be in the mid 80's so in the evening im going to take up walking after dinner,im not going to stop going to the gym but a walk after dinner should be a good thing to do.
Another thing ive been doing is keeping a food journal, all this week I have managed to stay in the average carb count of between 75 to 85 carbs with a calories of between 500 to 600 a day,im not hungry cause if I was I would eat something but thats the way the coun ta havebeen going. My morning teat have been between 95 to 110 so im ok with that.I hope I get past the stall on the scales ive been on lately sooner than later.Have a great labor day weekend..I plan to go to the casino and give myself a mini vacationfor a fue hours.

Medusa 09-03-2011 09:22 PM

Weigh-in is tomorrow. Looks like I'll be breaking my plateau and weighing in at 293!

Just to give a little perspective, my weight loss has been SLOW. As in molasses rolling down a hill of sand in winter SLOW.

I started at 335 in April. It is now September which means it has taken 5 months to lose a little over 40 pounds. I think I'm right on target as far as how permanent weight loss is supposed to go. That is an average of about 2 pounds a week which is exactly what the "textbooks" say is supposed to happen for the pounds to stay gone forever.

It's hard sometimes to stay focused when the numbers move so slowly but looking back on the time that has lapsed since April, I acknowledge that I very readily could have been doing NOTHING as opposed to doing SOMETHING and my weight would have still been 335 today.
It has helped me to keep that in mind when I feel discouraged.

ONE. DAY. AT. A. TIME.
ONE. HOUR. AT. A. TIME.
ONE. MEAL. AT. A. TIME.
ONE. BITE. AT. A. TIME.

Rockinonahigh 09-03-2011 09:52 PM

Recently I came across this.
To lose one pound a week wich is 3,500 calories. If u eat 300 fuer calories a day while useing 300 calories a day 5 days a week working out,u should lose one pound or more a week.I got this from a weigh loss book at the wellness center...go figure.

It is difficult to be one of the slow losers! Particularly when we read of our fellow planeteers (word?) losing so quickly.

I weigh each day to help keep myself honest, still losing ounces and not pounds. I try very hard to keep the healthy eating aspect in the forefront, as in: " No, you didn't lose again but you totally stuck with your eating plan, yeah! Good girl!"

No, it doesn't always work but I plod along anyway. I wish I was like you faster losers but I am not. It is the way it is.

Medusa, you have been doing so great! Those pounds are gone, gone, gone! We must focus on our successes, not what we perceive as our failures to keep us on our positive path.

Hugs,

Zimmeh 09-04-2011 08:00 AM
