coming home to private messages and making me smile

I ordered some books and I got the confirmation that they were shipped, it came in an email like this:
Hello Ronnie, (Your book(s) asked to write you a personal note - it seemed unusual, but who are we to say no?) Holy canasta! It's me... it's me! I can't believe it is actually me! You could have picked any of over 2 million books but you picked me! I've got to get packed! How is the weather where you live? Will I need a dust jacket? I can't believe I'm leaving Mishawaka, Indiana already - the friendly people, the Hummer plant, the Linebacker Lounge - so many memories. I don't have much time to say goodbye to everyone, but it's time to see the world! I can't wait to meet you! You sound like such a well read person. Although, I have to say, it sure has taken you a while! I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but how would you like to spend five months sandwiched between Jane Eyre (drama queen) and Fundamentals of Thermodynamics (pyromaniac)? At least Jane was an upgrade from that stupid book on brewing beer. How many times did the ol' brewmaster have one too many and topple off our shelf at 2am? I know the trip to meet you will be long and fraught with peril, but after the close calls I've had, I'm ready for anything (besides, some of my best friends are suspense novels). Just five months ago, I thought I was a goner. My owner was moving and couldn't take me with her. I was sure I was landfill bait until I ended up in a Better World Books book drive bin. Thanks to your socially conscious book shopping, I've found a new home. Even better, your book buying dollars are helping kids read from Brazil to Botswana. |
Thinking of my text "conversation" with my girl (f) before bed last night.........

When I read this post I was reminded of an Ernest Hemingway piece that I came across the other day, so I thought I would share it with you, "It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have ridden through as you gain by riding a bicycle." – Ernest Hemingway |
Oh my gosh, this was very funny, I actually laughed loudly.

My client (the husband) was going out for his walk and I managed to encourage his wife to go along for some fresh air and exercise (never an easy task!)
I kind of held back a bit as we walked out of the house, giving them some alone time. They've been married nearly 60 years. They held hands as they walked... I thought for a minute I should just leave them to themselves. I had an awkward and indecisive moment... but then she held out her hand for me to take...and we all walked together down the street.... I confess....this makes me a tad bit weepy as I write this.... They make me feel like family... <3 |
So, this was yesterday...and I am still smiling about it today:
The 3 and 4 year olds I work with singing along with "Same Love" by Macklemore when it came on the radio. Totally made me mushball with a huge, "OMG how cute are you all?!?!?!" |

Two things made me smile :)
1) my Seahawks are 4-0 baby! First time in franchise history, how could that not make a girl smile hmm? :D 2) I entered a contest on Facebook from a local radio station as it turns out today was National Coffee Day (atleast here in Canada it was). Anyways we were supposed to describe our favorite drink from Tim Horton's and they were gonna choose one winner to get a $50 gift card from Timmy's (as we call it here). Well guess who won? you guessed it, I did !!!!!!!!!!!!!! so I get a $50 gift card to a wonderful coffee company and even if I don't normally drink coffee I will definitely use it for coffee and hot chocolate :) |
...thought of what a wonderful weekend I had and knowing it's not too long before another one :)
|
Remembering life goes on and how lovely it is being out of range of phones and most especially internet.

Waking up to the best girl in the world.

Thinking about this weekend....
I went with 3 sisters and 3 nieces to St. George Utah to watch plays and just visit and goof around. Before I tell you this you have to know a missing piece...I have a condition that makes me very slow in the brain for about 1 hour when I wake or when I get very tired. Amoung other stuff. It's livable but keep that in mind with the next part...Ha! I was on the second nights stay and had only had 2 hours sleep the night before so that also added to the no brain thing and this second night went to bed at 3 am and only got 2 1/2 hours sleep. My nieces and sisters came in to wake me and jolted me awake saying I have to dress and get ready A.S.A.P to check out because everyone was ready but me and we had to hit the road. First off all, I don't have enough brains in the morning to rushand second, I get confused when I am first awake if people bark out orders without my coffee. I am wearing a brace from a broken ankle which I put in the chair. When I woke I got dressed and went to put on my brace, and became very confused because there were two braces in my chair. I used a few choice words trying to figure out what the hell really was happening..lol FOR 20 MINUTES I WENT ON ABOUT WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING WITH THIS EXTRA BOOT AND HOW THE HELL DID IT GET IN MY ROOM. Everyone was straight faced and then I realized they were video and picture taking the event. I woke enough to finally realize that they had played a hell of a joke on me..lol They had gone the night before and bought a new boot..But knowing my morning issues, decided to mess with me..ha! I thought I was loosing my freakin mind for a good 20 minutes..lol |
