I just watched The Kings Speech...I was a little suspect of it, but I ended up enjoying it very much. I really loved the character of Geoffrey Rush, who played the man who helped the king. Well worth a look.

Starrynightaw 06-19-2011 03:00 PM

I saw "The Hangover 2" last night. Amazing.

Starbuck 06-19-2011 03:05 PM

Saw 2 movies last night

Saw Green Lantern...I really enjoyed it, a lot!

Then we went to Bridesmaids and despite the funny parts, I really wasn't that impressed. The best part of the whole movie is when they got food poisoning...other than that, it was almost a difficult movie to watch.

TIMBERWOLF 06-19-2011 03:22 PM

Just got back from seeing
Green Lantern
YES it was a great movie.

Dallas2010 06-19-2011 04:27 PM

I watch Jarhead with my pre-military son... I'd seen it before but now that he is going into the service I watched again with him.

Bohemian Rhapsody 06-19-2011 05:09 PM

I just watched a movie called " Ran" pronounced Rahn. Its a Japanese King Lear. Very excellent movie.

I caught that too. I recorded it as well. I have run across the four genders in my shamanic studies, quite often as a matter of fact. I thought all in all it was a great show.

I finally watched the social network. I loved the screenplay. Very quick, sharp and spot on for the acting. I was surprised I liked it. But I do like Sorkin screenplays/writing. I was not familiar with the Director, but who cares... thumbs up from me.

Hollylane 06-20-2011 09:33 AM

Gone With the Wind....for like the millionth time.....I love Scarlett, but I do think she was just mean to Rhett...(w)

Camo Eagle 06-20-2011 03:00 PM

American Gothic

Kobi 06-25-2011 11:16 AM

Saw "The Other Woman" last night. Natalie Portman and Lisa Kudrow.

Cant decide if I liked it. Lisa will always be Phoebe from Friends, and tackling a role where she is the ultimate bitch of an ex wife just wasnt plausible to me.

Gemme 06-28-2011 09:38 AM

Naked Ambition by photographer Michael Grecco. Ebon and I thought he did an excellent job and we are on the hunt for his book now.

amnesia.bfp 06-28-2011 09:39 AM

What was the last movie that I saw?

I can't remember.

Who am I?

Andrew, Jr. 06-28-2011 09:09 PM

I watched "Hereafter" w/Matt Damon, and "Just Go With It" w/Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston. Both were ok. Nothing spectacular. Just entertaining.

Diavolo 06-28-2011 09:16 PM

I just rewatched "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf". Just an amazing film. There's the craziness of the script (the play really) and then there's the photography, the way the thing is shot , the direction was amazing and seeing them make Elizabeth Taylor look ugly was amazing.

Bad Teacher

Cameron Diaz is very funny.

InsatiableHeart 07-02-2011 06:24 PM

I went with friends last night and saw Transformers in 3D!! What an awesome movie

NJFemmie 07-04-2011 05:55 AM

I've recently watched Stone and Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Stone was an ok movie (I guess). Nothing to rave about - it left me in an odd mood.
Boy was a good movie if you are interested in that subject ... I certainly did not expect the ending.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2. It was actually kinda cute.

Red Riding Hood. Finally got this. I always thought the previews looked cool, but part of me kept thinking "Really? A movie about the children's story. I bet it'll be lame." Plus it kinda had an M Night Shyamalan look to it and I am generally disappointed in his movies. So I wasn't expecting much. I really liked it. The filming and costuming was actually pretty good. The use of the red and the way the wolf looked and interacted with Red, was very hot. Plus the whole story and Gary Oldman didn't suck. :D

Now getting ready to pop in Rango, the one with Johnny Depp in it. hmmmmm We'll see how that goes.

Jess 07-20-2011 06:56 AM

Recently viewed: Burlesque; cute/sweet movie, it def gave me a different view of Aguilera, she has a lot more talent than I had thought previously.
The Rite: Anthony Hopkins is of course, amazing... good flick, kinda creepy.
Insidious: best "scare" flick I have seen in a while. Actually "jumped" at a couple shots!
Adjustment Bureau: Good story and interesting in that kind of "Inception" sort of how things are affected. Very modern day forbidden love story.
Sucker Punch: If you're into the CGI style fantasy/graphic novel, it was awesome. Great soundtrack and tons of action, albeit a bit hard to follow the internal story line, the visuals and action did keep me engaged. ( or maybe it was my inner 17 year old boy) whichevah... I dug it. LOL.

ScandalAndy 07-20-2011 07:05 AM

Sunday night i saw "Gigola" at the Qfest queer film festival. I love foreign films and this one didn't disappoint. This is a French film about a young butch in 1960s Paris. When the credits started to roll I immediately felt the need to talk about it. Personally, I felt there was a lot to process. Some of the most powerful bits are left open to the interpretation of the audience, and the conversation afterward was amazing.

I just rented and watched The Lincoln Lawyer. I am not a huge Matthew McConaughey fan. The premise of the movie is that he plays a sleazy lawyer who has a crisis of conscience when finding himself representing a rich kid who is guilty as sin. Now the guilty as sin does not bother him.. (because he takes payoffs all the time to represent the guilty and get them off) however, he finds out this rich kid killed a woman he put another man in prison for years ago. The movie also stars Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, and William H. Macy.

I would not buy it to add to My collection. In the end I was glad I only paid a dollar for it through the RedBox rental machine.

Oh and the Lincoln part of the title.. he has a driver that takes him around in an old black Lincoln and that is his mobile office... right down to the back seat being littered with a ton of paperwork.

MsTinkerbelly 07-20-2011 10:10 AM

Midnight in Paris.

A better life.

Gemme 07-20-2011 10:38 PM

StillettoDoll 07-21-2011 04:07 AM

Jett 07-21-2011 06:19 AM

Harry Potter, I was coerced as it's not my thing, I wasn't bored at all although it was slightly long (but worth it because next time she has to accompany me to see "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" haha ;)

I can't wait to see the movie after seeing the previews....my Dad and I saw all of the original movies together, and I have always enjoyed the "alternate universe/reality" type movie.

PinkieLee 07-21-2011 08:04 AM

Last weekend was a movie watching marathon for us...

the final Harry Potter movie ~ LOVED IT!

Lincoln Lawyer ~ only because of Matthew McConaughey ;)

The Rite ~ scarey exorcist stuff, but pretty good.

Jo Go With It ~ Jennifer Aniston & Adam Sandler... funny!

Larry Crowne ~ Tom Hanks & Julia Roberts. Ugh, could have been better.

Merlin 07-21-2011 11:48 AM

Bridesmaids - dissapointing,it had so much scope.

Can't wait for captain america,am an x men fan.

scootebaby 07-21-2011 01:32 PM

I'mOneToo 07-22-2011 02:56 PM

a crap load of movies. most of them are 'sickbed' movies so take the choices with a grain of salt.

Jaws -- the original. Have not seen it since it was in the theater (swaddled in a baby buggy, *ahem* okay maybe not). I still like it!

Conquest of The Planet Of The Apes -- uh, don't even ask me why. Still trying to figure out why I wanted to watch it, and since I fell asleep after the first ten minutes can't even tell you what (if anything) it was about.

The Others -- kinda spooky in the end, but a snoozer getting there. Not Kidman's finest, but I still like her.

The Lovely Bones -- the main character, a teenage girl, seemed a lot like Chloe Sevigny. Her name in real life is Saoirse Ronan, which is an anagram for "oars rise anon" which is what I dubbed her. Her character's name was Susie Salmon. Girl gets a camera for her birthday and takes a lot of pictures, girl meets creepy neighbor, girl has bad things happen to her, and director gets a lot of special effects money and sort of ruins what was probably a better book.

My Life -- Michael Keaton stars in a 9.0 magnitude tear jerker. Do not busy yourself with filling out your last will and testament, your advance directives, or making arrangements for "pre-need mortuary services" while watching this movie. Another with Nicole Kidman, I must like her if I keep seeing her movies.

The Sting -- Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Eileen Brennan, Robert Shaw and a ragtime score (evoking nightmarish recollections of 7th grade band practice, with Mr. C telling the clarinetists to sloooowww dooowwwwwnnnnn and the flutes to speed up!). A great movie.

Georgia Rule -- for probably the fifth time. It's too bad that Lindsey Lohan got such bad press during the making of this film, because it's a pretty good movie. It's got a tough premise to start with, but with Garry Marshall directing it isn't heavy handed. I loved Jane Fonda in this. Her role was sort of a buffer between Felicity Huffman and Lilo (mother and daughter, respectively -- Jane is grandma/Georgia). It's kind of gross seeing Cary Elwes play a step-dad/molester, but somebody had to do it. Dermot Mulroney co-stars as a veterinarian who has mostly human patients, I just love him cuz I LIKE his name. Though I usually confuse him with Dylan McDermott. Probably because it's almost an anagram.

Bridges Of Madison County -- heh. Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood. 'nuff said.

The Enforcer -- for the billionth time. I just like watching Tyne Daly. Nah. Clint!

The Outlaw Josey Wales -- once upon a time was the movie I'd use to put myself to sleep. Haven't watched in a long time, had to dust it off and see if Clint was still the roughest toughest cowboy on earth. Yup, he is! I might have a crush on him :|

The Switch -- not to be confused with "Switch" (which was a funny movie with Ellen Barkin). This vehicle was supposed to star Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston, but they and all the other grownups got upstaged by a 7-year old. I don't want to spoil this one for any of you, I am sure you are clamoring to see this. Hint: there is a sperm scene.

The Silence Of The Lambs (again) -- to redeem myself after being force fed Hannibal a while back. Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster, superb.

Deliverance -- admittedly, in a vicodin haze for that one. I could not get through it otherwise. Beautiful scenery, horrible dialogue and just plain bad acting. Yet, it is now in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." I assume it's for the outdoor setting and not the, um, "scenes". Like Burt Reynolds said in his final scene: "ah don't remember nuthin" (don't want to, anyway).

foxyshaman 07-22-2011 04:02 PM

Young Victoria - I liked it. I do not know Queen Victoria history, so it was an interesting take on something I knew nothing about. Whether it is historically accurate I will never know, or care.

44 inch chest - LOVED IT!!! I like Ray Winstone which is why I taped it. The movie was unique, good one liners, great actors and some fantastic introspective scenes.

Edison and Leo - I love stop animation and this one did not disappoint me. I was tickled that Canadian places were featured in it. Like Flin Flon... when do you see Flin Flon Manitoba in a movie that is not sponsored by the Canadian Film Board??

Elijah 07-22-2011 05:31 PM

I tried to watch Dark Habits, I just couldn't...subtitles, camp and bad hair did Me in. No offense to the person who recommended it to Me. *toothy grin

The_Lady_Snow 07-22-2011 05:33 PM

Grant wanted to see it, I'm now distressed:/

If you've never seen it, "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"

I would definitely recommend Out of the Ashes. It will make you think and cause you to ride an emotional roller coaster. Very intense. I found it on Netflix.

The_Lady_Snow 07-22-2011 06:24 PM

Speaking of NetFlix,

The Fighter!! It's on instant play...

It was great, but it's also really rough, especially the ending. I have an incredibly tough time with movies about The Holocaust, I only made made it about 1/2 hour into Schindler's List and I had to turn it off.

I watched in horror the man cub kept coming in the room and I would shoo him away next thing out of his mouth was:

"Mom I've seen it at school"

:|<~~~ me

They never even explained what it was I had to:|. Grant just finished watching it he too agrees it's distressing. Truth can be.

Gentle Tiger 07-22-2011 09:19 PM

Just finished watching Black Book. Wow!
It's based on a true story. Intense. Part thriller, part mystery but mainly story of survival.

Yep, through Netflix.
