We saw Chef today.

Simply terrific.

We loved it.

Redbox day! I saw Planes, which disappointed me because the nimrod who had the disc before either scratched it up and didn't say anything or they also sat through a skipping, pixelating, freezing and jumping movie too and didn't say anything. Either way, I'm not a happy girl and I made sure Redbox pulls this disc when I turn in back in. I did piece together the story and it's super similar to Cars. I wish they'd stepped a bit farther outside of the boundaries for the story line but it's a good, harmless kids' movie so I can't complain.

I also picked up Ride Along but I'll wait until tomorrow night to watch it.

Ping Pong Summer...

Ping Pong Summer with largely a cast of unknown except for a bit part with Susan Sarandon! Even Susan wasn’t able to breathe life into this hideous film!!

Short Circuit...2

From time to time thoughts of the climatic chase scene from Short Circuit 2 pop into my head. There were MANY great films made in 1988, and this isn't one of them. It is, however, incredibly entertaining and criminally underrated.

such a great movie! Love Liam Neeson in nearly everything. This kept me on the edge for sure and I def recommend it!

candy_coated_bitch 06-10-2014 08:30 PM

I went to see Maleficent over the weekend. I made sure not to even read too much about it because I hate ANY kind of spoilers. Even trailers and previews feel like spoilers to me. So I didn't know what to expect except a retake on Sleeping Beauty.

I really, REALLY loved it. A lot more than I thought I would. I thought the Maleficent character was dimensional and that Angelina Jolie was perfect in the role, and I am not usually a huge fan of her. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Maleficent and Aurora and the special effects were really good, too. I recommend it.

Not a "Movie" but started a series called "True Detective". Very odd, gritty and interesting!! Can't wait for the next season!

Rented 6 Minutes and that is about how much time I wasted on it!

Think Like A Man 2.

Charmingbutch21 06-21-2014 03:53 PM

Anna

I watched "Anna." Not because it stars Taissa Farmiga, but I thought it would be a good psychological thriller. It failed. I give it a B-. Interesting concept, but they tried too hard.

Mormegil 06-21-2014 04:10 PM

Gravity , I love space movies like Europa Report or Last days on Mars.

Gemme 06-21-2014 07:55 PM

I thought I'd waste some brain cells on this, and I'm sure I did, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

MsTinkerbelly 06-21-2014 10:27 PM

The Grand Budapest Hotel.

I give it a thumbs up.

EnchantedNightDweller 06-22-2014 02:50 PM

Godzilla!

Any Sci Fi fans out there? Just saw Godzilla, it was most excellent!

Gemme 06-22-2014 04:35 PM

Geezers. I am disappointed. I like some of the actors a lot. Luckily, I didn't pay for it.

Talon 06-23-2014 11:48 AM

Saw the play on Broadway....French..

deathbypoem 06-24-2014 11:56 AM

Can I just say........

I absolutely loved this film. A little something for everyone.
Love, Loss,

The Power of Technology,
and so much more.
It wreaks of loss though.
It created a bit of havoc inside. Seriously. Beautiful.

Smiling 06-24-2014 04:37 PM

I'm about 30 minutes into The Conjuring and I had to take a break because I'm already too scared, lol. I don't think I want to see any more of it.

This makes me feel so old; I used to love having the bejeezus scared out of me. I've turned into such a pansy in my old age, lol.

I brought home the DVD 2 days ago, and I've been having bad dreams since!
What has happened to me? I used to be able to watch anything!

I don't want to sleep alone tonight. Only half of my face is sticking out from under the comforter and it isn't even dark out yet, lol. I guess I'd better go get everything I need from the kitchen now because I already know I'll end up watching the rest once I regain my composure.

Hopefully it ends up being less scary than I imagine.

easygoingfemme 06-24-2014 06:01 PM

Last theater movie: The Fault in our stars. Because my daughter's book club read it and wanted to see the movie and I wound up tagging along. Pretty well done. Thankful I'd read the book in advance.

Last home/rented movie... I think was 12 years a slave. Been a while.

Hilarious....

SirenManda 06-27-2014 01:23 PM

Edge Of Tomorrow.

Tom cruise may be crazy but he's a great actor. I actually thought it was better than I expected.

ProfPacker 06-28-2014 09:08 AM

Jersey Boys

Well, I know many people who loved the show. I went because at the very least the music would be a TBT. Well the music was. But I can't say much about the rest of it. It was slow to get into, very flat in its direction, little energy except for the music. I think for me, none of the characters were portrayed with any depth, I didn't find them likable. But that is just my opinion. I did, however, come out singing and thought the last scene was great.

One other thing, prior to the movie a new app was advertised: the run and pee app. It tells you when in a film you have the best chance of going to pee and how much time you have to do it. I kid you not.

Charmingbutch21 06-28-2014 09:55 AM

B+

A Long Way Down

Again, a great concept, but the story wasn't filled out. Toni Collette was amazing as always though.

Talon 06-28-2014 10:01 AM

Not new...although, both excellent nonetheless.

Gemme 06-28-2014 08:20 PM

It. Was. Awesome!

I was pleasantly surprised that the two funniest scenes, for me, came from The Hulk. Unexpected laughs are the best.
