Thinking about our awesome vacation last weekend! I had a wonderful time shopping, dining out, and relaxing at the hotel.

Last week, I worked OT in a different department, on the second shift. I did this because that team had their team day that day, and needed someone to fill in.
I worked 5 hours of the 10.5 hour shift, with a young gal, that I only know in passing. We had a grand time passing the hours away chatting about our love lives, families, hobbies, etc. I can't even remember all of the things we talked about. Apparently, but not that I recall, we had talked about my interest in jewelry making. Yesterday, I got a call from her mother, who works in another department. She said that her daughter had asked her to call me (because we work opposite shifts), and find out if I would like her jewelry making supplies, because she just wasn't using them. Of course, I said "YES, I would love to have them." I asked if I could compensate her for them, but she said her daughter had told her that she didn't want anything other than her favorite flavor of Monster Energy Drink. Today, her mother met me in the parking lot with her daughter's supplies. HOLY COW!!! She gave me two huge boxes filled with boxes of beads, pearls, crystals, stones, charms, findings (ear wires, clasps, bead caps etc) in copper/silver/pewter, copper/silver/stainless steel spools of wire, memory wire, elastic for bracelets/rings, tools in different sizes for making jump rings, a jewelry design tray, and gift boxes for finished jewelry. There were also two bead working travel cases with 4 bead boxes in each, the book Jewelry Making for Dummies, and a huge stack of jewelry making catalogs and magazines. I was grinning from ear to ear, I still am, and I am so thankful that she thought of me. That was absolutely sweet of her. I will not be able to keep myself from reciprocating, with at least a case of Monster Energy Drinks, and a Thank You card. WOWZA!! |

We were told it would take 5 months and so we were not expecting an answer until christmas and then this came through today. It made me smile big time. Thank you USCIS for making our dreams a reality... |
When my daughter was ...hm... sixteen, she got her tongue pierced illegally and without my permission (which I would never have given). So I'm driving to my mothers and the kids are in the backseat chattering and I see a flash of metal in her mouth. I slammed on the brakes and pulled over the car and leaped out and whipped the back door open (after all, this is a holiday meal at MY MOTHER's house) and I'm realizing something has happened behind my back. She won't open her mouth so I "help" her, and there it was, a tongue ring. Her defense was poor, and my son tried to intervene, but I threw down the MOM card and all of the world heard me shouting that "I" had made that body and that it had taken me nine months and because she likes to be late, I had to wait on her an extra freaking thirty days. So that made the tongue MINE and the least she could have done was ask permission. (I'm sure you can imagine this.) After all of the guilt and anger dissipated we continued on to have a holiday meal with the family and the conversation was finished hours later along with a sentencing of grounding when we were back home.
Today I was looking at a photo my daughter took of her ear, and was reminded of my ridiculous outburst and responded to her photo with a fairly brief note about how I'd made that ear, and how beautiful it was, and the pores, I'd made those too, and the hair. I'd made it all and it was beautiful. Somewhere inside of me I laughed a soft laugh and I was prideful and I was glad I was able to have turned an old situation that was ridiculous into a new memory for her. |

Okay; this actually happened yesterday, but my smile lives on!
It should be noted that this post is unrelated to my complaint earlier in the CIJS thread, lol....
One of my new colleagues, upon learning my age, being stunned and telling me that she didn't believe it and had assumed that I was in my late twenties, really put a "huge-smile" on my face. [And believe me, I look like I got beat with the proverbial ugly stick these days between everything that has gone on in my life, lol]. Also, simply receiving a few words from someone whom I consider a dear friend and have missed terribly has helped to make not just today, but this entire past week an excellent one. Here's to hoping for a general upward trend continuing into the new year! :) :wine: |

At the hat shop, after I had spent toooooo much money, I turn to The Boy and said something that implied parentage. The sales clerk says "you're his mom? I thought y'all were just buds. You don't look old enough to be his mother." Granted since growing his beard The Boy doesn't look nearly as baby faced and who expects a 40-something to have facial piercing and tattoos. But still, it made me :D. |

waking up this morning to our kitten Piper purring and kissing my face she is a love bug and I think she missed us cause we spent the night before up at desd's folks. We had a great time it is always good to go up there we made dinner for them an her dad and I had a few beers and a shot of Jack. We took the pups with us and they were very good babies got along with the folks dog to better then I did since the damn dog bit me :| BUT it always makes me smile to come home to our little nest :rrose:

My sister called to tell me my 10 yr old neice found some dresses she liked on ebay and instead of waiting until my sister got home from work to look at them, like she was told to do, she decided to bid on them . LMAO She bid $50,000 dollars on the first dress. $6000 on the second one and $1000 on the last two. LMAO:|
