A morning kvetch, which will hopefully enable me to release and move on: When sharing the common areas of a household with 8 people it is important to follow a few rules to avoid chaos and inconvenience. For instance: always clean up after yourself in the kitchen and never, ever leave dishes in the sink, especially overnight. I often wake early and use that quiet time while everyone is asleep to do cooking for the day. More often than not, the kitchen is trashed and I have to clean it before I can do my own chores.

While I'm at it - never, ever, leave cast iron soaking in water - soapy water at that!

Oh, and we compost not only because we are tree-hugging hippies but because any food scraps left in the trash will attract animals to the outdoor trash bins and they will tear it up, leaving a huge mess for someone to clean up, and likely not the people who caused the problem.

Okay. Thanks! Now I get to tell this to the 8 people who need to hear it, but hopefully with no venom.

When I was in high school I worked 3rd shift at a restaurant and often didn't get home until 1:00 a.m. and left the house for school by 6:30 a.m. One time I came home and made myself soup and grilled cheese and left the dishes in the sink. I want to say I was being thoughtful by not making noise at 1:20 a.m. but truth I was being lazy. When I got up in a rush to get to school and found my mother had put all my dirty dishes and trash in the front seat of my car....well, I never left dirty dishes lying about ever again.

Not sure if your roomies have cars but I heard putting them in the bed works pretty well too. :giggle:

As much as I want to say I'd pack a picnic and luncheon right out there on the ledge.....I saw way too many "Road Runner" cartoons as a child and will admit I am hesitant.

i am not a diana taurasi fan. so forgive me for posting anything about her LOL.
i do like seimone augustus. she is out. and she's from louisana, lsu. gotta love that. go sec!
i don't know if taurasi is or not, or even if she IS. but i do think she enjoyed that kiss. she even closed her eyes.
i personally would have taken an ejection and chest bumped her to the floor.
taurasi and company got stomped, btw. look at the score. haha!

Little Golden Books are now 75 years old. Hard to believe. I remember we would get one from Santa each year at Christmas time. I enjoyed them so much as a child, and again when I introduced my own daughter to them a few years ago. I think my favorite was.....
