Jawbreaker.

I've always loved girly movies.

homoe 07-23-2014 06:25 PM

Anita~~

The story of Anita Hill. Enjoyed it very much

A Wanted Man

Phillip Seymour Hoffman's last movie.

"A Chechen Muslim illegally immigrates to Hamburg, where he gets caught in the international war on terror."

IMDb

It sounded like it would be good but I slept for about an hour and I heard some snoring in the theater when I was awake...

Just watched...

Cruel Intentions.

Jess 07-26-2014 01:55 AM

last weekend... interesting film... very much a B- film, but I enjoyed it, even though I have a love/hate relationship with Val Kilmer's acting.

Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 2. Not the best horror movies ever made but I love 'em!

Don't waste precious time...

Divergent: I had the the movie geek insight to turn it OFF after 30 minutes. I don't even know where to begin on how utterly bad this movie is! It a shame really because Shailene Woodley was excellent in The Fault in Our Stars. It look like someone in Hollywood is trying to compete with Hunger Games..and is failing miserably! :2cents:

deathbypoem 07-26-2014 02:55 PM

Its on Netflix too :)

I highly recommend this movie!! It's great. But, I am a die hard Shai Lebouf fan so, guess that helps too ;)

deathbypoem 07-26-2014 02:57 PM

Also watched Blue is the warmest color. And I was so pissed at how it ended. :\

feminality 07-26-2014 05:36 PM

What Was the last movie you saw?

Sex Tape ... It was cute and very funny ... BUT WAYYYYYYYY to long... I never have been a Cameron Diaz fan.

Teddybear 07-26-2014 07:16 PM

Watched "Heaven is real" good movie be ready to cry

ahk 07-26-2014 09:40 PM

The Wolverine.
Intense.

Lone Survivor- Gut-wrenching. I'd like to meet Marcus Luttrell and thank him for his service. It would be an honor and a privilege to shake the hand of a true hero.
Never Lake - Seriously slow in the beginning, but got pretty good once they started tying everything together.
Ride Along- Cracked me up!
Frozen- Yeah, I just admitted to watching it. What? How could I say no to an adorable 10 y/o and her mom (who threatened to do bodily harm if I didn't go with them)? Despite the threats of bodily harm, I thought it was cute.

Saw Lone Survivor. Was an incredible movie of duty, bravery, and survival.

And, in the inescapable brutality of war, the Sabray tribe and the principles of Pashtunwali just blew me away. What they did to protect that soldier, without a second thought to their own safety and survival, rendered me speechless.

I liked Divergent, actually! It wasn't the best made movie in Hollywood history but I thought it was fun and I liked Shailene Woodley in it. She was the best part, really.

Zimmeh 07-27-2014 11:54 AM

Ruff and I saw the following two movies:

Tammy: Was a funny ass movie! Loved everyone in it and will buy it once it's available on DVD.

Lucy: Wasn't all that great. You could predict the ending after an hour. Save your money and rent it on DVD once it's available.

Edge of Tomorrow

With Tom Cruise. A well-done science fiction.

We both liked it.

ProfPacker 07-29-2014 08:17 PM

I just got roped in to taking 3 teens to see Purge...had to buy a ticket ($6.00 Tuesday) for them to get in. I am not sure I will review the movie haha

ProfPacker 07-29-2014 10:55 PM

so, here's the low done on Purge 2: Anarchy. It wasn't the worst, close but not the worst, it did have a message, now I can't sleep

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

Director:
Matt Reeves
Writers:
Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa.

Caesar: [in sign language] If we go to war, we could lose all we’ve built.

Caesar: [spoken aloud] Home. Family. Future.

I’ll be cheeky and say this is a remake of Battle for the Planet of the Apes, with more then one truck and a mounted machine gun. Both sides have prejudiced members who ruin everything. For course, it would seem, the apes have a someone who betrays everything that both sides have built, even the apes moral code is broken. You can understand Koba (Toby Kebbell, even in CGI he plays the villain) mistrust of humans. Massive set pieces of violence show us (in a film) that intolerance and animal testing will mess up the planet.

My husband's review.

Queenie 07-30-2014 11:07 AM

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Director:
Martin Scorsese
Writers:
Terence Winter (screenplay), Jordan Belfort (book)

quote: Jordan Belfort: I’m sure. Good luck on that subway ride home to your miserable ugly fuckin’ wives. I’m gonna have Heidi lick some caviar off my balls in the meantime.

Leonardo DiCaprio works well with Scorsese, it has to be said. Matthew McConaughey has a great scene and his character is a real mental case. Its the sort of film where you are suppose to dislike the main protagonists, but don’t. They want to make money but just got greedy, which is their downfall. The decadence is mind blowing really, but these people were making more money then god and could afford to do anything they wanted! I hope Scorsese and Leo work together again but i wonder if the director gets bored of making fraudsters, mob figures and murderers seem charismatic and cool

My husband's review.
I liked it a lot more than I thought I would have. In my book, mr leo can do no wrong.

Brought my nephew out for lunch and to see "The Purge" ( it was okay but could have waited for DVD but my nephew enjoyed so I am glad we went :) )

ahk 08-05-2014 10:59 AM

Blended.
It was a typical Adam Sandler movie.
But I enjoy Barrymore, so it made up for the corny jokes by Sandler.

SirenManda 08-05-2014 11:08 AM

Guardians of the Galaxy. Actually really funny, I really thought it had a clear message.

Seems every Tuesday I go to the dollar movies --

Captain America 2: Winter Soldier.

Really good!!

candy_coated_bitch 08-06-2014 11:02 AM

Gravity.

I felt about it pretty much how I thought I was going to feel--which was that it kinda fell flat. I mean, yeah--the visual effects were amazing. But I feel like the movie was driven by that alone. And Sandra Bullock panting in space and debris flying around to dramatic music. I feel like the entire movie probably could have been summed up in ten minutes.

Not my favorite.

I really disliked this movie. I was totally bored. I kept wondering: Is this all there is?

My GF who pretty much likes most movies (well, I guess she is not crazy about action flicks) said: "It's not that bad".

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Last night I watcheed Noah. Bible story with a twist. It doesn't completely follow the Bible, but I enjoyed the movie. My buddy at work had told me it was hard to follow don't waste my money. I'm glad I was hard headed and watched it anyway.

The opening scene is just wrong, yet I was laughing so hard I nearly fell down between the seats. I can understand his frustration!

If you want to see a feel good movie, this one will do. But, If you are looking for something besides a formula movie, skip this one.

August: Osage County

I really liked it because Oklahoma is home and I have family there in Osage County, it was just very dark humor
