I'm so sorry for worrying you all. I've just spent a week and a half drugged to the gills and hallucinating with a kidney infection in a hospital in the middle of nowhere Georgia. My fam was around, thank Goodness, or I might not have made it through as well as I did. As it is, I am still recuperating and in bed but at least I'm at home.

I'm so sorry about the projects. They were great! If I do say so myself, but I got sick before I had a chance to put them in the mailbox. Now I don't even know where they are, along with my laptop cord and phone charger. I'm especially sorry I will miss out on getting to see everyone's work, because I know it was amazing, and also that I will be on the naughty list for the next 6 months. I will put myself on it when I have a chance. I really appreciate the effort everyone put in to making me a project even though I didn't get to see it. I will be around bfp and let you know how I'm doing.

Glad to see you are okay now and on the mend. Take care of yourself!

Oh GeorgiaMa'am, I'm so sorry you were so ill. I knew something was really wrong and I'm glad you let us know. I'm also glad you're through the worst of it.

How would everyone feel about me sending the ones you made for GeorgiaMa'am to her?? She'd still be on the naughty list for 6 months (that makes me sad).

I haven't sealed the envelopes yet...I'm taking that as a sign from the universe that I wasn't done with the envelopes yet.

If you'd rather have the one you made for GeorgiaMa'am sent back to you, please PM me ASAP. I'm sending them out tomorrow about noon and I won't seal them until then.

GeorgiaMa'am, can you please PM me your address?

nina03 06-08-2023 09:27 AM

Yes! Please send them to Georgia Ma'am!

Also, I think that we, as a community, get to decide when the rules need to be flexed for extenuating circumstances. I, for one, really think that Georgia Ma'am shouldn't be on the naughty list for six months when she was so sick. I am all for giving grace in challenging moments, and Georgia Ma'am has had an extremely difficult year altogether. We can choose kindness in this moment in every way, both by sending her the art that was meant for her, and by letting her choose to join the next project if she has the physical and emotional capacity to do so. We have chosen to give extra time in the past when people were past the deadline due to extreme weather, and I think that this falls under the same kind of "circumstances beyond our control" clause.

Nina03, I am feeling the same way and if everyone agrees that there will be no naughty list for circumstances beyond someone's control.
I work my recovery program diligently and I learn acceptance, forgiveness, grace and so many other things. I feel the kindness and love in your post.

On another note, I love your idea of the recipe cards!!!

clay 06-08-2023 01:21 PM

Thanks for the update.

By all means, please send mine on to GeorgiaMa'am!!

I am amenable to "no time out" for her...she has had a really challenging year....with an aging, dementia mother, lost her doggy, and her partner of 17years!!

NONE of those are of her own volition...so, yes, "circumstances beyond her cntrol!

Or maybe a cabinet like this and adapt it to your supplies?

If you have a decent amount of space, I would consider doing shelving like nanners. It goes a long way and can go all the way up to the ceiling if more space is needed. Do your best to have as natural a light source as possible and, if that's not in the cards, Ottlite makes amazing lamps and light sources that last forever and provide natural light. Absolutely worth the investment! Winsome and Devaise are companies that make craft storage cabinets and organizers, many on wheels for easy maneuvering. A lot of Devaise's smaller cabinets and drawers come fully assembled (minus the casters, which are super easy to put on).

Now, my personal wish item is this beauty. It's got a little bit of everything...pegboard, drawers, display shelves and it's all on a swivel base. Perfection! One day she will be mine.

When determining what goes where, mind your plugs unless you have wireless charging capability. Rolling cabinets move better on hard surfaces so if you have carpet, you might want to put the sliding furniture movers under them so if you need to move things around, it won't be a big production for you.

Craft rooms are like finger prints; no two are exactly the same. Even if they have the exact same equipment and layout, the supplies will find different nooks and crannies in which to reside. You just have to do what feels right to you.

Good luck and have fun!!!

These are all really amazing recommendations Gemme, and give me a lot to think about. So much to wish for! It will take me longer to put this together than I originally thought.

GeorgiaMa'am 06-09-2023 02:44 PM

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes and support. You all are very generous about the offer for a reprieve from the naughty list, and I will gratefully accept whatever everyone decides. I love working on our projects and receiving everyone else's work. I just don't want anyone to feel slighted, because I think sometimes we all have had circumstances that are overwhelming and out of our control.

I did get a chance to take pictures of the projects I made before they were lost, and if I have your phone number I have already or will shortly send you a pic of the one I made for you. I know it's not the same as having the actual piece, but if you would like your pic and haven't gotten one from me in the next couple of hours or so, please PM me your phone number and I will text it to you.

(((Hugs everyone)))

nanners 06-12-2023 04:30 PM

Delivered!

According to USPS Tracking everyone except Nina03 got their pacakages today. Nina03, yours will be delivered tomorrow or Wednesday.

Are we ready to start the next project?

Also should we have a conversation about amending the rules for people being late with their projects?

Thanks GeorgiaMa'am for the picture of the zentangle!

clay 06-13-2023 09:09 AM

Got my package yesterday! Thank you for the fun project!!
I love each of the zentangles I did get!!! I LOVE them!

Thank you, GeorgiaMa'am for the pic of the one you made me!! I LOVE it!!!

GeorgiaMa'am 06-13-2023 12:53 PM

Wow! I got my package of projects and all I could say as I looked at each one was "Wow!!!" They are all so amazing. Now I'm inspired to see how I can better incorporate color into my Zentangles. I've never quite known how to begin, but now I want to move on. Thank you everybody for sending them to me, and for making them for me.

nina03 06-13-2023 10:13 PM

I got my package yesterday and they were beautiful! Thank you everyone for sharing your art.

I'd volunteered to wrangle the next one, and my suggestion was decorated recipe cards. I'm also open to any other ideas. For a timeline say a month from the close of sign up?

Also, in terms of the naughty list, I feel like the death of a close family member, hospitalization, or severe weather that closes down the post office all count as "out of someone's control." There are probably things I'm missing, but those should all be on the list. As for asking for that space to miss or be late, I think that we are all adults and it should just be the honor system. Nobody should have to prove what they're saying.

I'm interested in everyone else's thoughts. I like this crafty community so much.

I am not going to be able to do the recipe cards. My vision makes it difficult enough to draw, color, etc BUT to write...it is horrible. PLUS, recipe cards are usually not very big.

I STILL have high eye pressure, contributes to blindness (my vision is 20/60 ish so NO BUENO) and I use eyedrops 4 times a day, so those irritate my eyes to a degree.

Will look on from afar, crafters!

Hi Clay,
I'd rather pick another project than have you unable to participate. How about any of these as themes??
Water (oceans, lakes, rivers, beaches, fish, whatever tickles you)
Home
Transitions
Flowers/ trees anything that grows in the summer
Let's do the size as big as 8.5 × 11, and no smaller than 5×5. Must be flat, but can be decorated any way you want.
Do any of those themes sound good to everyone? It's really important to me that everyone is included who wants to be.

Awww, nina03, that is an incredibly sweet gesture to rethink your project for me. I REALLY appreciate that so much.

An 8.5x11 project substrate would be ideal.

AND, everyone knows how much I love anything to do with beaches, dolphins, etc...:)

Freeform mediums are even better for me (I LOVE the paint chip projects, and using colors).

With the wide parameters, I think I can make something, for sure!

Thanks! See how everyone else feels.....get input!!! I want everyone else to want to participate as well!

Can we broaden the theme to nature?
Is this going to be a drawing or just free form do whatever you want as long as the theme is there?

I like the idea of nature as the theme, and I really
love the idea of a free for all in terms of what people make. This is a chance to go crazy as long as it's between 5x5 and 8.5x11 and flat. Also, please seal your glitter well! How much time should we give for a sign up deadline?

That is a great idea....nature & "free form".

FYI: Want to make sure no 3D type embellishments, etc...as those would be hard to mail back, require more special packaging for returns ($$).....surface has to be flat!!!

Typically we allow 1 week for signups.

4 weeks to complete project

date to have back to you and a 1 week "extra" before on naughty list.

Thanks, nina03!!

Bèsame* 06-20-2023 10:56 AM

Yay! I received mine last week. I love how we all have different ideas! My friends are just excited to see the finished art pieces. I carry them around for a week.

I'm loving the new idea, I promise to keep it flat, I'm thinking fabrics???

Gemme 06-20-2023 11:52 AM

For some reason, I didn't have access to the site for a few days so pardon my delay in saying that the projects were nothing short of stunning. Georgia, the one you showed me is adorable! I love them all.

As for the current project on the table, Nature is great and very open as a theme and the size range of 5x5 to 8.5x11 gives us a lot of options as well.

I would like to revisit the 'flat' discussion though. Nothing crazy like 3D flowers or anything but what popped in my head initially would add a wee bit of height to parts of the piece. Like a puffy sticker kind of height. Nothing that would increase volume significantly or add too much to the weight or increase $$$ investment for anyone.

Would anyone have an issue with that?

Good to see us all back! No issue with that for me...I can't wait to get started.

I'm thinking fabric or puffy sticker kind of height would be fine.

Are we ready for sign ups?
