Transendance it is a good sci-fi futuristic move and I am not a fan of the main star and for a change the movie didn't depend on effects alone but istead the plot. I enjoyed it enough to biy the DVD.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - we loved it! Initially, my daughter did not want to go but she confessed early on that it was a great movie! It is funny that the movie makes you empathize with the apes so you are rooting for them to beat the evil humans. lol In my opinion, there are many good moral messages in the movie as well, such as the negative consequences of guns in a society and learning to coexist with those who are different than you.

dawn of the planet of the apes (saw it befo' i left fo' holiday to da states and loved it! am gon see it again wit' me sistah and her 2 kids next week, in 3-d)

guardians of the galaxy, in 3-d (saw it wit' me niece and nephew last week and LOVED it. the 80's sound track was awesome.)

the hundred-foot journey (saw it yestaday wit' me oldest sistah and really liked it a lot)

Double Feature!

It was funnier than I expected, which was nice, and I absolutely adore Zoe Saldana. She kicks butt in space just as well as she did in Columbiana. And she looks really pretty with green skin. Who knew?

I have a soft spot for dance movies, especially when they have some of my favorite SYTYCD contestants. A happy surprise for me was finding my Jaja in it. I didn't see her in the trailers so I was pleased to see her.

The Desolation of Smaug. Almost three hours of my life I can't get back. Lush to look at but, oh my, so tedious.

Mrs.Doubtfire. [revisiting for obvious reasons] A fabulous performance by Mr.Williams.

Freaky Friday (2003) Just because I like to watch Jamie Lee :awww:

I've been deep in film [read procrastination] mode and I can't remember all that I've seen. I've revisited several long time faves.

I found a Marlon Brando film length documentary either on Netflix or Youtube that was interesting although didn't cover anything that hasn't already been covered in other media.

Venus and Serena. Interesting enough doc. if you like tennis. Pretty much a year [2011] in the lives of the eponymous sisters.

Just watched "Spark: A Burning Man Story"

Good documentary about the inclusive festival.

MrSunshine 08-18-2014 08:56 PM

I record that new show called "Strain".
I finally had time to sit down and watch. Freaky!
I do not like snake like freaky shit flying out of infected peoples faces trying to attach to mine.
Other than that it's great :/

Gemme 08-19-2014 05:14 PM

It was good and full of action.

cinnamongrrl 08-22-2014 12:07 PM

I fell asleep watching Frozen Ground on Netflix. Nicolas Cage and omg I can't remember his name are in it...

It was really good...what I saw...Ohhhh John Cusack. :) Love him...love his sister more...

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Obviously, it lacked the incomparable Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowell, and Kim Hunter and also the shock ending of that 1968 original. Maybe it's just me, but the more CGI you throw into a movie, the less "soul" it has. Explosions and action don't make up for soul, or memorable characters.

I kept waiting for one of the humans to have a damn sense of humor and yell "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!"

I couldn't agree more, I like a good explosion as much as anyone, but I think the writer/programer ratio went off the rails a while ago.

OMG watching Excalibur. John Boorman's 1981 version .Sooo good and so bad lol.
I need a suit of armor.

Just finished watching Divergent. Well written I thought, kept my interest the entire movie. And Jennifer Lawrence is becoming one of my favourite actresses. Night night.

To be Takei

I watched this documentary yesterday. Granted, my knowledge of Takei was strictly as Mr. Sulu prior to seeing this film. This is one cool guy who grabs life by the balls, has a positive outlook, despite being in a concentration camp as a child and he lived most of his life closeted in order to have a career in Hollywood.

Time worthy.

Talon 08-24-2014 09:58 AM

I'm completely slacking on good films, apparently....

American Girl: Isabelle Dances Into the Spotlight:hk14:

Cute, fun movie I watched with my daughter. Good message on how to handle bullying.

Here shortly, I'm going to watch Tyler Perry's The Single Mom's Club.

A gritty realistic prison drama based in the UK. Great acting and full of characters you'll love to hate...if you can understand their accents! :)

puddin' 08-26-2014 06:25 PM

took my niece & nephew to see "if i stay" on sunday arvo. it was a film well adapted as much of it from da book wouldn't have translated well to film. what liberties they took only enhanced, yet did not alter da true story line.

Talon 08-27-2014 08:44 AM

A true story, pretty decent.

cinnamongrrl 08-27-2014 09:25 AM

Last night I finally watched Out Of the Furnace...

I had heard such good things about it. It was indeed a good movie but there was a lot about it that didnt make any sense....

MrSunshine 08-27-2014 06:25 PM

I was so excited to she the premier of "Intruders" on BBC America.

I'm still confused. I have no idea what the hell was going on and I didn't even have to bring sage to the party :| WTH?

On Netflix..

I watched The Killing Season with Robert DeNiro and John Travolta. I never even knew they had done a movie together. It was surprisingly good and kept my interest. The end was a little like....??? really??? But a good movie just the same...

Jesse 08-29-2014 01:45 PM

I am watching, The Family- 2013- Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones.

Does that count? lol

As Above, So Below!

I give it 3 out 5 stars, worth seeing if you can handle a bit of a scare, but not scary enough for me.

ONLY 08-30-2014 12:02 PM

Last night we watched "Grudge Match" with Sylvester Stallone & Robert DeNiro. We (my son & I) enjoyed it. Hard to believe that Sylvester Stallone is 68 years old. He has a well defined body for a 68 years old.....seems to me that he can still compete with much younger guys.

Talon 08-30-2014 12:12 PM

I've recently re-watched some of my favorite funny films...

And...what exactly, would *YOU* do?

Matthew Weiner's 'Are You Here'

I'm a big Mad Men fan so I was drawn to Matthew's film.

It's okay. Not enough. Or, I was left feeling like I picked up a magazine with great cover teasers only to find nothing between the front cover and back cover. It needs more that glitzy gals. [There are some very beautiful women in this film.] Amy Poehler plays dramatic. She's well rounded, that Amy.

Music in this film is good.

cricket26 08-30-2014 08:53 PM

i liked it :)

*Anya* 08-30-2014 11:56 PM

Spoiler Alert- The Railway Man

With Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.

I have watched many, many WWII movies. Some are harder to watch than others.

For me, the scenes of torture in this movie were just too graphic and too hard to take. I had to turn away several times and frankly wanted to leave.

The GF found the movie, on the whole, well-done and absorbing.
