in view of all the massive suffering in world, i humbly light a candle for myself. i am going through a particularly rough time right now. i have recently moved and am very homesick. i have had to go through all the bureaucratic and, harder, the medical changes involved. though i am getting better medical care in the future, i am very ill at this time and have received troubling news concerning neurological damage to my optic nerve. i ask for your prayers, my dear community.

For my Mom May 20, 1936 - March 12, 2007 I give thanks for the blessing of life, of companionship, and of memory. Though our loved one is beyond our sight, we do not despair, for we sense our beloved in our hearts as a living presence. My candle today is for Chris and Patricia, both losing family in Japan. And for Patricia's Mom as she struggles with memories of her childhood in Japan during WWII after the atomic bomb was dropped. The details of the nuclear power plant damage and leaks are bringing up a lot for her (PTSD).
For those of us that remember Three Mile Island & Chernobyl- light candles for those that were affected and have the scars to this day. Let's hope Japanese ingenuity gets those plants fully and safely shut down! And may we think about building more of these plants! |
