for those in OK
i am lighting a candle-carefully and in a well-protected area-for all those affected by the wildfires in Oklahoma. many have lost everything, homes, livestock, livelihood...and also for those devasted by tornadoes in Louisiana. for those of you who live in dry areas, please THINK before you toss a match or cigarette out of the window, or even light up a barbeque. we are in the middle of the dry wildfire season now, and fires catch so easily. i light this candle not only only for the humans affected but also for the animals whose habitat was lost as well as lives, the vegetation that was once more burned to a cinder, and to the very earth that was made even more barren than it already is.

for the earth...
i am lighting this candle for the earth herself. for her waters which are being unnecessarily polluted, for her dirt which is carelessly being eroded, for her air which is being fouled...we humans take her for granted and think that all the resources we use will always be there. they will not. all of these things-water,earth,air-are finite. if we do not start taking better care of what we have got now, we shall go the way of so many civilizations of the past and disappear b/c of our own diregard of the planet upon which we depend. this is not a political statement, just a simple geographical observation.
THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR ACTIONS. earth needs happiness, health, peace, and kindness, to rest in ease, just as much as any other suffering being! namaste, :praying: :vigil: |

For my cousin Jim, a couple months ago i posted a candle for him here, as he was being put into hospice... he passed away very quietly, and smiling.... last night. we're grateful that he went peacefully, and that we all got to say our goodbyes- it's not so much a grieving now... it's a celebration of his life as it was. sleep with the angels Jim, i love you. http://gi175.photobucket.com/groups/...owstoned-1.jpg |

lighting candles for the animals i saw today at the Humane Society. i was searching their online lost and found database last night again, searching for my lost kitten, and came across one i just knew was my Booger kitty- so i went in to physically see if it was him... it was not. first off, i shoulda never went by myself.... secondly, i never knew how bad that place is. i sat in my car after seeing all the caged kittys, and bawled. lighting my incense...
i burn incense for all those affected by the tsunami in Japan and now by the new conditions caused by nuclear complications. i light incense for all those affected by the fires in OK and those affected by tornadoes.
i burn incense for all who need comfort, compassion, healing, even the basic necessities. we who are so lucky to have all we do. anything we can do to help-prayers, candles, incense, donations-we should do. those affected could be our mothers, fathers, family in a past life.... namaste to all. |
on a more personal level...
i burn incense for my Elder's brother who just had a hip replacement.
i burn incense for his brother-in-law who is awaiting surgery. i burn incense for him that he might find comfort and light, that his dr.s might improve his vision. i burn incense that he, like many of us here, find peace and healing as he contemplates his own mortality. namaste. |
