my birth

serious fall aged 10months that left me with a 2inch scar on my forehead

breaking a friends bed by jumping on it like a trampoline. I still don't think I did that. My heals would have tangled in the bed clothes and I'd have fallen off, breaking more than the bed. http://www.emotty.com/images/emoticons/229.png

GM3

Not including those I've already been to...

1. Ireland, specifically Stonehenge. On the Summer Solstice. To pay homage my indigenous roots.

2. Italy. I'm not going to pick a city. Roma, Venezia, Florencia, Sicilia, Milano, Napoli, Polermo, etc etc etc... I want to see an opera at the Teatro San Carlo.

3. Botswana. Botswana wa Tsabakela (Botswana exists to glisten). I'm in love with the trees, the wildlife, and the people.

GM3 places you want to go back to.

Gráinne 07-11-2012 09:53 PM

1. England: much more time in London, more of the Midlands, Wales, the North.

2. China: well, much more of it than I saw, which was only Beijing and Shenyang.

3. Mackenzie River Valley and Three Sisters of Oregon

GM3 of your best travel tips or hints.

Wrinkle free clothing, and clothes that can be used for more then one thing. Clothes that are interchangeable. I can pack for 3 weeks in a small bag.

Ask the locals, they know the best restaurants and places to see.

Stay in guest houses and B&B's, you learn so much and get so much (non-tourist) information and learn all the best places to go.

Give me three of your least favorite tourist attractions

Gráinne 07-12-2012 05:51 AM

Oh boy, this will outrage some, I'm sure:

1. The Great Wall of China-not the wall itself, which was amazing, but the hucksters and sellers at the base of it. We had to run a gauntlet. It was the same at the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven. I will admit I did some shopping for postcards at all of them, and I do understand it's an income. It was just more aggressive than anything I'd seen in America.

2. Niagara Falls-again, not the falls itself, but all the cheesy museums and schlock around it. It was fun when I was a kid and I did the Ripley's Believe it or Not and the wax museum, but as an adult it was just annoying.

3. Graceland-I'm glad I went, and it's as over the top and cheesy as you'd think it is. It's also in a surprisingly rough neighborhood of Memphis (I'd thought he'd be in the equivalent of Beverly Hills), on a huge main drag, with little choice to grab lunch nearby. And again with the commercialism.

GM3 lesser-known destinations you would recommend.
