50 degrees and cloudy.

Gemme 04-27-2014 05:10 PM

Overcast and it's raining off and on. The next couple of days will be okay but then it's four or five days of straight rain.

Better than Nebraska's tornadoes and Arkansas's hail storms. A semi was knocked over by 70+ mph winds and an 11 month old died in a North Carolina storm.

Everyone be safe out there.

Gráinne 04-27-2014 06:41 PM

Oh, just a mile-wide tornado ten minutes from my home! Medusa's in my thoughts. Mayflower may be bye-bye :(.

Okiebug61 04-28-2014 06:36 AM

Arkansas Tornado

Hoping everyone is Ok in Arkansas. I have many friends near the location it hit and have not heard anything. Let us know you are ok.

RockOn 04-28-2014 12:53 PM

I just read the weather news around 1:30 P.M. CST for the first time today.

As Okiebug61, I have concerns for our members in Arkansas. I see tornados punched you hard in areas, Arkansas!

Grainne, thankfully it was 10 minutes from your home and not on your block.

I see our invitation to the party here in the Southern Gulf area begins at 6 p.m. tonight and runs through 6 a.m. in the morning. I hate nocturnal tornadoes the most because I cannot see the debris unless it is lightening. If sirens go off in the city, I immediately stuff the dogs in the center most bathroom with an extra fan and then go outside to watch and listen. I feel better if I can see.

Zimmeh 04-28-2014 01:19 PM

I am sorry to hear of what hapoened to the people of Arkansas. If there is something I can do, please let me know.

Zimmeh

Okiebug61 04-28-2014 03:52 PM

Looks like Tupelo Mississippi has been hit. Hope anyone and all near there is ok.

Tornado sirens went off a little bit ago. Kevin is such a good dog. He is sitting in the bathroom with a ton of comforters and pillows surrounding him. I have a fan blowing on him.

I am so grumpy, just want to go back to sleep. Only thunder and some lightening and a little rain - reminds me of summertime popcorn showers so far.

Corkey 04-29-2014 12:56 PM

*Anya* 05-03-2014 05:13 PM

Temp 84, "real feel" 92.

If it means that it actually feels as though it were 92, I agree with that.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be 72 with a real feel of 77.

Regardless, the 70's are soo much better then the 90's! It also cuts down on the new fire danger.

:moonstars:

Trev 05-03-2014 05:37 PM

The temp ..having a great day!

Relaxing is the weather report of the day.

Gemme 05-04-2014 04:36 PM

The weather is great here. Sunny, breezy, temps in the 60s with just a smattering of drizzling off and on.

I feel bad for Michiganers, though.

Well, we might be in the month of May, but it's doesn't seem like spring yet in Michigan. Residents there are experiencing what some are calling an ... "Ice Tsunami." WILX says:

"Huge blocks of ice wash ashore on Lake Superior. Neighbors in the community of Big Traverse Bay say the ice crept up slowly, smashing into their homes."

A northwest wind reportedly helped drive the ice up on the bank. According to Mark Gill, the director of vessel traffic services for local city Sault Ste. Marie, this is the most ice they've seen in a long time. Detroit Free Press says:

"This year the ice coverage is probably the worst or most ice the lakes have seen in probably about 35 plus years."

Ice plate thickness is measured to be about 3-4 feet, but the plates often break, stack on top of one another and freeze together.

Some homes were hit hard. Insurance adjusters plan to assess the damage in a few days.

But this ice-attack is affecting more than the neighborhoods surrounding the lake. It's also, to put it bluntly, messin' up the economy.

According to AccuWeather, the iced-over Great Lakes are slowing down shipments to and from Canada, which is a big problem, because as...

BMO Financial Group reports, the Great Lakes region accounts for 28 percent of combined U.S. and Canadian economic activity.

Due to this intense and prolonged winter, the region should reportedly prepare for a chilly summer, and a cooler fall.
