Went online soon as I woke up to check on a death row dog. She was scheduled to die at the kill shelter yesterday and I did not see her until late last night. I hurriedly pledged money to help save her. She had already been flipped into the UNKNOWN STATUS folder and that is a deadly place for these poor souls to land. They usually go straight to the GONE FOLDER from there. Anyway, this morning I smiled, then laughed out loud, got a little choked up too when I saw this adorable little bully girl in the SAFE FOLDER. A rescue did an awesome scramble to pull her out of that deathtrap at that time in the evening. I am so happy! Now she will get a great forever home! Rescues are so particular about who gets to adopt ... and they do follow up check-ins on the dogs too. If something is not right, they will take the dog back in a heartbeat with no apology.

I was checking on the eaglets who are now 6 and 8 days old. Even tho they still have the body control of a dish of jello, they managed to crawl their way over to the food pantry. By the time they got there, they were exhausted and ended up napping, using a carp for a pillow. Parents gonna have their hands full with these two. |

I actually cooked! It's nice to be home this week and can have time to make meals.
Breakfast was steak, scrambled eggs, fresh mushrooms. Dinner was pork chops, fresh green beans & parmesan risotto. The risotto wsa store bought and it was okay but next time I'll just skip it. I plan to cook again tomorrow. Yay! |

Several things...
I was leaving my client's house at the same time as the dishwasher repair guy.... He asked if he could help me carry my stuff to my car....chivalry is NOT dead in the south y'all.... Also... I had to ring the Massachusetts DMV for the umpteenth time...and I had a lovely conversation with the clerk up there...about the weather and long winters and gaining weight and the stupidity of the NC DMV system.... I love it here...everyone knows that...but seriously...their system is flawed... I had a nice talk and many laughs with a male DMV operator on Monday...its funny Cuz in Massachusetts they're not real well known for their niceness at the DMV...where as it was here in NC that I found a rude clerk. Whom I will be writing an official complaint about tomorrow. But I digress from my happy sunshiny smiling .... |

Want to hear another awesome something? I saw another little pittie girl late last night in the UNKNOWN STATUS folder. I did the exact thing I did the night before. Pledged $$$ to her. That same rescue did the exact same thing too. They pulled her out of harm's way when she was totally out of time. Seeing the little bully girl's sweet face in the SAFE folder this morning, I experienced same good feelings this morning like yesterday morning. I so wish every one of them had the opportunity to live in a forever home with kind, loving people. Every single one of them deserve this. |

The river running wild in Chimney Rock...the spot where I stood and took pictures a month ago is now under water... A nice talk with a lovely, elderly store clerk... Some yummy fudge from her shoppe... The tourists looking as awed by the surroundings as I always feel... Children. With actual manners... The horses at a farm nearby... Seeing a forsythia in full bloom....and a camelia too....scary as it is... |

It snowed today...just flurries...but still...it was pretty...
Listening to school closings because of the snow made me giggle.... And I think I have finally found the elusive trail head I've been seeking for a hike on a much loved mountain near me...I'm excited...there are cliffs as well ad a rocky bald...and I'm certain there are caves up there. I cannot wait to take in the view from above. I've been admiring it from below for so long now.... |

This is the second year I have been monitoring a webcam of an eagle's nest. Today mama eagle laid the first egg. That made me smile. Fingers crossed there will be a second egg in a few days.
