Because of this thread...I just HAD to go get a Nathan's hot dog today. Either I am extremely susceptible to the power of suggestion....or Day is practicing some serious mind control! :brainsucker: lol

I love sausages over hot dogs hands down. If I have to eat a hot dog it has to be garlic infused, and loaded with everything. Otherwise....:overreaction:

:gossip: Ok ,so here's the story on the Sauerkraut and the Relish and other wiener accessories not included in the Poll. The Poll thingy does not come up until you post the new thread, and generally I am prepared and have mah Poll options drafted ahead so as to make the whole thing timely n stuff. Apparently I was amiss in said drafting, and suddenly I had to hurry and type out like 8 options and people were already posting and there I was still typing shit and I was hella trying to hurry, then realized I only chose 8 options and ran outta lines to put in other stuff...and there you have it. :| The Poll is slower than the hurried Hippy. :huhlaugh: :smokejoint: With that said...I like Caspers Hot Dogs in Hayward, California. :cheesy: They even have the Sauerkraut and ya get to choose from a buffet of different types n sizes of wieners and their buns are always hella fresh. :happyjump: :daywalker: |
Before I got my cholesteral results: bacon. :boink: But alas, no more. :flyingpig:
I LOVE trying different types of relish - especially home-made. :cheer: Mustard: only the kinds made with uncooked seeds. :seconddoh: Really! It makes a big difference! And onions. Preferably cooked. But the absolute best thing to try with your hot dog: :beerbros: Especially when it's :tanning: out. |
mayo, ketchup, mustard, cheese, ONIONS, and chili.....MINUS the hotdog :) :winky:
|
Sometimes I grill them to a crisp but when I get more into it this is how i fix em'...........
:4femme:First I cut em open length wise. I cook the weiners in a pan with butter and diced onions, sauteing the onions, seasoning to flavor. Then just before the weiners are finished, I slip cheese into them, allowing time for the cheese to melt. Then, I remove them from the pan, butter a bun and toast it in the pan. Once finished, I put mayo, spicy mustard, hot sauce, and sauteed onions on the bun with the weiner.. yumm:badcook: |
|
my favs on my weiner are: chili cheese onions and ketchup
and also if theres no chili then mayo, ketchup and american cheese all beef hotdogs preferable the hebrew national kind |

I was reading this thread last night and I was reminded of the Dutch version of a hotdog that I was "treated" to last year while visiting the Netherlands.
I give you, the frikandel: http://andreiphx.files.wordpress.com...l_speciaal.jpg The Dutch, not really known for their cuisine, well, except they do have outstanding cheeses and breads, consider this their version of a "hot dog." It is a deep-fried long, thin (and I might add nasty) sausage, of which one of the ingredients is horse meat. Yes, horse meat. And please note the Dutchies love their fries (or frietjes) with a mayo-based sauce that has a slight pickle-like taste to it. If you ask for ketchup with them, they know right away you are an American. After experiencing it, but avoiding another Dutch "delicacy" - raw herring -- I took my Dutch girlfriend to the Ikea in her city, where we had American-style hot dogs. Even she noted they were a distinct improvement. And don't even get me started on that other favorite Dutch treat -- bitterballen. You can even order them at the McDonald's over there. lol Jake |

After Zweigle's, I'll never have any other kind of weiner.
But a weiner in a garbage plate....that's mmm-mmm tasty! (burp) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...bage_Plate.JPG |
I love them burned on the outdoor grill, then stand back while I grab four hot dog buns and squirt with ketchup and mustard. This won't be pretty! LOL!
Damn DW, you have me so hungry for a hot dog ... it's in the 20s outside,11:30ish p.m. and no chance of me getting out to buy hot dogs and even less that I would fire up my grill right now. :( LOL! |
I always get sort of a Chicago dog: ketchup, mayo, sweet relish, tomatoes, pickles.
In fact, when I go to the local hotdog shop, I ask for a Chicago dog with mayo, but without the onions, peppers, and mustard. :winky: |
I'll take saurkraut, ketchup, mustard, relish thanks on my weiner :) Thanks!!
