Armstong and Peterson - You Go To My Head
I wasn't a fan of Armstrong's till I heard this recording. I associated Louis with my father's music and I guess I dumped him in the "old timey" bin. I heard this song with Armstrng playing a muted horn and it stopped me in my tracks. Then he opened his mouth, started singing (interpreting) this son, and that was it. I was in love with Louis and have been a big fan ever since. It's comforting that I'm able to enjoy my father's music (ie., Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Eckstine, The Mills Brothers) in my silver years. Lucky me. |
