Brittany got herself caught today when she was being naughty. I was watching a show on my laptop and paused it to go to the bathroom. While I was in there, B. went into an area where she knows she is not supposed to go, which also just happened to be near where I left my paused laptop. Somehow, she accidentally touched the laptop and unpaused it, and the show I was watching started again. I made it back just in time to see her jump two feet in the air!

Our dog likes to snuggle with the grand baby and is very protective of us all. Our dog is no special breed. He’s a rescue dog and we hope to get him involved in our healthcare as a medical dog. His name is Oliver, Olly for short. He goes everywhere with us and he enjoys being off his leash. What dog doesn’t, right? :)

My poor little Arnie threw up six times.

Got adopted!!!!! The 2 littermate kittens I took to the Humane Society went home! I had told them if they went out together I would pay for one of the adoptions. I am so happy the girls went together!!

My sweet moon baby is terrified of storms. And we had a wicked one last night and milder ones today and unfortunately she is in panic mode. I had to give her anti-anxiety medication last night. It’s interesting how she knows a few hours before they’re going to come.

Turned 4 yrs old....
What a gratifying age to be for Ms Sasha!
She has overcome the anxiety of the local emergency sirens every Monday at 12pm noon-(loved to howl at them). She has overcome the need to expel urine when greeting new comers and old comers alike when they visit-(bladder surgery was not an option). She has overcome the need to chase the critters: furry and feathered alike-(they can eat and drink under her watchful eye though). She can reserve her desire to devour all things edible-(Her reservation is a trait I could learn from). Ms. Sasha has overcome living with her totally obsessed owner/caregiver/housekeeper who will forever be grateful that she is in her world for better or worse! Happy Birthday Ms Sasha :birthday: Love ya girl :dog: Ks- |
Brittany has gained 22 pounds. She weighed 57 before; now she weighs 79.
I didn't believe her vet's office when they told me I had ordered the wrong size of Nexgard for her weight. I took Brittany to their office and they reweighed her. I don't know where she has put it though. That's a large percentage of her body weight. She doesn't appear to have any fat, though. She didn't seem underweight at 57 pounds either. I thought she was about two years old when I got her, but maybe she was younger and she has just grown into her adulthood. I will have to ask the vet next time we see her. |
Not my dog, but I am the stepmom to Raven. (Boss butch's tripod dog)
I had them both over the night and I grilled shrimp and we had a few adult beverages. Anyway...Raven is about 90 pounds, not a little dog. That's how she was able to pull me over last week. Well, she loves me. She climbed up in my lap. I was sitting in a patio chair. It was soo darn cute. That was not an easy feat, but she managed to do so! Good time was had by all!! |
Brittany had an upset tummy today. Not sure why, we haven't given her anything unusual. I hope it's over.
|
Brittany turned my mattress pad and blanket into her new bed. I suppose it's my fault for leaving them on the floor after I stripped them off the bed, instead of putting them in the laundry right away. She swirled them around on the floor until they were to her liking, and promptly went to sleep. Now I kind of hate to take them away from her; she likes them more than she likes her doggy bed. I think I'm going to look and see if I have some old ones in the linen closet for her to have. If I don't find any, I'll see if Amazon has some less expensive ones.

Little Arnie is getting used to being alone, now that Bella is gone. He hasn’t left my lap since we got back from our short jaunt to Vermont, to see the eclipse.
|
It didn't happen today but I am thinking probably back on the day of the eclipse. I have a large barn (40X60) and at this point just about every bay is filled with "stuff". Out of all the cats I have had these past two years, I am finally down to four, my two originals, one I was going to bring to the Humane Society and then her sister (Pippie) who I was going to keep. Well, Pippie it seems, has graced me with a litter of kittens somewhere in that barn. Pippie is an indoor-outdoor kitten/cat and I had noticed she was getting chunky. Then a few days ago she started staying out all day and night. The last two days I have snuck down to the barn to see where she goes when she goes in there. I need to find the general location of those kittens so I can get them up to the house. The last two times I spied on her I was able to hear the kittens mewing when she returned after coming up to the house for a quick bite to eat. They seem to be in an area where I have about 30 boxes of things that are quazi stacked. Today will be spent figuring a way to move and restack the boxes so I can find those little rascals and get them up and into the house.
|
So I didn't find them on the 12th but got lucky today when I went hunting. Three new additions with two being black and white and one being grey and white. Everyone is up in the house now so I feel a lot better that they are safe and that there will be three less feral cats in the world.:cat: :cat: :cat: :paw: :paw: :paw: :paw::playingcat:

Brittany is home from the spa! (That's what we call the kennel.) I think they overfed her or gave her more treats than I had approved, because she was not interested in the celebratory French fries I had brought her.
But she was so excited to see me! And when we got home, she had to check out her yard first, and then we went inside and she got excited all over again to see the boy. She then took a nap under the kitchen table. (She has a bed under there, and there's also an air vent down there that she likes to snuggle up to.) All was right in her world, and ours too. |
Ok they are not my animals. I will call them my yard animals. My deer have been back and they are some darn big does roaming through the back yard. The turkey girls wandered through the front yard the other day and entertained me for a bit. I found my opposum in the tree outside my front door two nights ago and threw him some apple and bread. I had a male mallard in the pond a few days ago but he has been a no show as of late. He may have flown down to the lower and bigger pond about 100 yards away from the house. Their colors are beautiful. My newest visitor is Yogi. I have found him in my front yard twice now. As I normally throw the front door open for the dogs to go out, I am worried there could be an incident. I posted him on Facebook (Kc Cunningham) and most comments are about his size. I am sad to say if he is here a couple more times, I am going to have to call Fish & Game. Lastly, when I went to let the dogs out last night I did a front yard check with my lantern light. That was met by the glowing eyes of a huge fox running through the front yard. That put the door opening back about 15 minutes which was followed by a half hour of a doggie sniff fest out there when they finally were released.

I bought Brittany a weird new present:
https://i.imgur.com/6yqMXWwm.jpg This is what it looks like unrolled: https://i.imgur.com/efsfiUMm.jpg It took me 14 minutes to roll up all of the ribbons with a treat in each one. Brittany looked at me dubiously for a few seconds after I gave it to her, but once she sniffed it, she figured it out pretty quickly: https://i.imgur.com/Isr1L7jm.jpg Now she is studiously unscrolling it in the hallway. |
Brittany had an upset tummy again today. I have got to figure out what she's getting into and get rid of it. It has to be something in the yard. But nothing identifiable "comes up". Maybe she just has a sensitive tummy.
|
Surprised me! I'm down to Dorrie and Pippie for cats. Pippie was looking a little pregnant early this summer but I was hoping for a false pregnancy. Nope. Yesterday she showed up with 3 kittens down by the garage. They are around 6 weeks old. One is ok with getting picked up and the other 2 are feral as hell.
|
Spent her last day in doggie boarding school. I'm back from our vacay and will pick her up tomorrow. I missed her so much!
|
Brittany played quite a bit today. She also napped a lot. This evening she watched game 2 of the World Series with us.
|
little Miss Holly wanted to run outside this morning. I warned her it was a little chilly, 42° . I told her she didn't have mittens!
She lasted about 3 min and was wanting back in. I soon saw her laying on the floor vent with warm heat coming in. She cracks me up! And lately the two kitties have been getting along a little better. Sure they chase each other, but less hissing and showing of the teeth. A Christmas 🎄 miracle. |
Brittany was "at attention" when the delivery guy brought the groceries, but she was not straining to get away or lunging. She's so good!
|
Two of four pups enjoyed keeping me company on the cedar swing in the sunshine.
Blade's pup has watched football with him all day. My senior pup is doing good on her new meds and has rested comfortable today. The youngest 2 pups played hard today and crack me up how much they adore each other. |
Brittany started learning how to catch things that aren't thrown straight at her. She's already good at catching things that are thrown high, but not so good at judging how to move from side to side. By the time we finished, she was starting to get it. She had the concept, just not the moves yet.
|
Holly kitty chased a little pink balloon I blew up. I put it on the floor, actually thinking it would scare her. She batted it and was more interested in the little knot to tie the balloon. It was so cute. Well that lasted for a little while, until it got stuck.
I found it and pushed it towards her. She played with it until it popped. I didn't see her, so I don't know if she jumped or not. Lol. She was definitely curious about the remains of the balloon. I'm definitely going to do that again! |
Brittany is sick to her tummy. She hasn't been able to keep any of her dog food down for two days. Today I just fed her a banana, and when she did okay with that, I scrambled an egg for her. So far, so good. I will give her a little bit of pumpkin and some rice tomorrow and see how she does with that.
|

I'm also going to start feeding her three times a day with a slow feeder bowl (instead of twice a day out of a regular bowl). Slow feeder bowls are on sale at Chewy! |
My cats are being lazy freeloaders. A friend of mine got me "cat crocs" and I tried to do a photo shoot with them wearing the crocs but they gave me a hard "no". Now they are sleeping next to their abandoned shoes.
|
Brittany has continued to not be able to keep her dog food down, but we tried it again today - just a half scoop, with some pumpkin, and chicken broth rice with some pumpkin for another meal. I also gave her half a banana and an egg for another small meal. She kept it all down so here's hoping.
I caught her trying to eat paper twice, and I got to her before she swallowed any, so that may be part of her problem. She loves to make confetti. I had no idea how much paper was in my house until I had a dog who could find it anywhere. |
Dog food warning - AND, Brittany's fine
We finally figured out the source of Brittany's tummy problem; I had accidentally bought her the high protein dog food instead of the regular. The labels for Purina One are very similar, and I had ordered it delivered by Kroger, so I did not have a chance to closely inspect the bags at the store.
I told my sister about the problems Brittany was having, and she said the same thing happened to my niece's dog. Her vet explained that it happens all the time when people get the high protein version of their dog food. (And hers was Pedigree, not Purina One.) So we threw out the high protein food, got the right food, and started giving it to her in small and then ever-increasing amounts along with her "sick" food (rice in chicken broth, pumpkin, egg). For a few days now she has been completely back on her regular food with no problems, and she's had a few small Pup-peroni pieces as rewards, and she's had a couple of half bananas. She's doing just fine. I really want to spread the word about that high protein food, though. There may be some hard-working dogs who need it, but it seems like it makes an awful lot of dogs sick. |
I probably shouldn't be thinking about changing Brittany's diet so soon after we got her tummy straightened out, but have any of you tried an air dried kibble, like The Pet's Table? I did try Brittany on Dr. (somebody's) dog food once and she liked it, but it was way too expensive. The Pet's Table is about the same as what I spend on Purina One. Do you have any experience with it?

I often give B a single knotted dish towel with treats wrapped up in it for her to untie and get the treats out. But today I double knotted the towel. She gave me kind of a dirty look. and it didn't take her very long to figure out how to unknot it. I didn't think it would, but I was afraid she might not even try. No problem, she went for those treats!
