Tattoos in the workplace
Visible tattoos can be a bad idea in the professional workplace, but companies are getting more lenient as time goes on. Here are some of the most tatt00-friendly companies you can work for. This infographic, from specialty skincare boutique Skinfo, reveals all kinds of tattoo-related statistics. Not only will see what types of people and age groups have tattoos, you’ll also see which cities and companies are the most tattooed overall. Companies like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Best Buy, Lowe’s, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and even Google don’t seem to have a problem hiring folks with a little ink. And if you feel the need to ever hide your tattoos, a few makeup tricks can make them practically invisible. You can check out the full graphic below. http://lifehacker.com/these-are-the-...-fo-1755827988 I carefully chose to wait until I was older to get my tats, understanding not all places of work establishments are cool about them. The one on my right arm resembles this, but not so arty fartsy. http://www.iwanttattoo.com/wp-conten...9e-520x687.jpg One day soon, I want a 3-D. So mind-blowing these are! The Last Star in the Universe – Red Dwarfs Explained

Mother and daughter reunite after 82 years.
Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It had been 82 years since Lena Pierce had seen her first-born child—but Friday, Jan. 15 offered a reunion for the pair. At the age of 14-- on Feb.11, 1933-- Pierce gave birth to a little girl in a Utica hospital. She named her Eva May, and cared for her for six months. “She bathed her, and changed her diapers, and came to love her,” Millie Hawk, one of PIerce’s daughters, said. After six months together, the state of New York took Eva from Pierce—citing she was unfit for motherhood at such a young age. “There was a lot of times I worried about her and wondered where she was,” Pierce said. http://www.wbng.com/news/local/Tales...367260621.html http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...4463162525.jpg http://a.abcnews.com/images/US/HT_Mo..._31x13_992.jpg |

The book most people lie about, and it's not War and Peace
You might expect hefty Russian tome War And Peace to be the book that Britons are most likely to have lied about reading. But children's favourite Alice's Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll is responsible for the most literary fibs, according to a BBC survey. Those who have struggled to make any headway into Leo Tolstoy's classic, currently taking centre stage in the Sunday night TV schedule, can take heart that it is still responsible for plenty of deceit, coming fourth on the list of books that we lie to our friends about having read. George Orwell's 1984 and JRR Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings trilogy came second and third respectively, while Tolstoy made another appearance at number five with Anna Karenina. The erotic Fifty Shades trilogy, four Charles Dickens novels and Jane Austen classic Pride And Prejudice are among the top 20 books that Britons have lied most about reading. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/books/wha...ts-not-war-an/ Coming in fourth on the lied about list of books http://podularity.com/wp-content/ima...nd%20peace.jpg Number one lied about books supposedly read Alice in Wonderland http://www.cbc.ca/books/alice-wonderland-584.png An interesting human study why folks would fib about what books they read. In any meaningful conversation about said book(s) you'd be so busted. Just standing around and nodding I suppose....... |

Happy Birthday to the one and only Carole King!
My older sister had the 'Tapestry' album, learned there was great music out there that wasn't Black Sabbath or symphonies. ;) Carole King (born February 9, 1942) is an American composer and singer-songwriter.[2] King's career began in the 1960s when she, along with her then husband Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits for numerous artists, many of which have become standards. She has continued writing for other artists since then. King's success as a performer in her own right did not come until the 1970s, when she sang her own songs, accompanying herself on the piano, in a series of albums and concerts. After experiencing commercial disappointment with her debut album Writer, King scored her breakthrough with the album Tapestry, which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.[3] more at her wiki page http://assets.rollingstone.com/asset...arole-king.jpg http://media-2.web.britannica.com/eb...4-F0899242.jpg |

Sickly sea lion pup found sleeping in a booth in La Jolla restauarant
Employees at the Marine Room in La Jolla had an unexpected guest Thursday morning. A sickly sea lion pup was found sleeping in one of the restaurant’s booths. Restaurant employees found the pup, which is about the size of a small dog, on the seat near a window overlooking the ocean about 8 a.m., said manager Matt Caponi. Employees called a SeaWorld rescue team, and the pup was awake and moving around by the time the team arrived. The 8-month-old female California sea lion was malnourished and dehydrated, SeaWorld officials said. At 20 pounds, she is considered a “micro pup,” meaning she is half the normal weight for her age. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...205-story.html http://media2.abc15.com/photo/2016/0....0_640_480.jpg This pup is in good hands now, but many pups in similar dire circumstances will not make it. Their habitats are being ruined with mountains of refuse, fish are disappearing. My heart aches for our wild animal friends. |

Well, of course there'll be an anti-Beyonce protest.....
Many people of color are grateful she was brave enough to use her platform at a major American event to make her point - it's not like that she would have a chance at the Oscars. In the latest News To Make You Pull Your Hair Out, protesters are planning to hold an anti-Beyoncé rally outside NFL HQ. And in case you haven’t been following the American sports news (you monster), that’s because the singer dared to make her recent performance at the Super Bowl political. The performance referenced Black Panthers, Malcolm X, police brutality and the #BlackLivesMatter campaign in a style that many found controversial. New York City’s mayor Rudy Giuliani criticised it publicly, calling it ‘racist’ and ‘anti-police’. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/...-a6864911.html http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/201...ftime-435m.jpg *As an aside, how long will Rudy G. milk 9/11? for him it's 9/11 24/7. He is so pathetic. |
