Seeing Monte on his high up sleeping spot earlier. While he wasn't feeling well he didn't try to get up there at all so I'm taking it as a sign he's on the mend.

Still smiling over news we got last night.

My youngest is now officially engaged to be married to her boyfriend of two years!!!

Can't wait to get down to Asheville and help.her plan. The venue is already chosen. Just need the particulars. I'm so very happy and excited!!!

Around 7:00 this morning, I was way up in the back woods, reorganizing some wood I brought home to use in the stump-burning process.

I glanced up and over to my left for no reason. There stood the cutest little fox ... then poof, he was gone. I could not tell you which direction he ran. It was like he evaporated. That is twice that has happened now. I never see their exit because they are so fast. I stood there in total amazement with a smile on my face. I enjoy living out here so much. :)

Marking my calendar for two Pride events I am going to attend next weekend. I may even find a wig like this >>> :rainbowAfro:

A few things.
 

First, I got some major scores at the Thrift Store, that ALWAYS makes me smile. However, on top of that today I met two lesbians there- both femme- and the one with the shorter hair had her "flirt game" on point. It felt nice to have some flirty fun...and I am still smiling.

My daughters fascination with the butterflies... She just stares at them with amazement for ages & chases them as they fly off... I wish I knew what she was thinking or seeing in her mind sometimes!

It was such a bittersweet moment packing today.

I found one of C's earrings against the baseboard in the room where she took her last breath. There is nothing spectacular about it at all...just a small black costume "diamond" stud that she probably paid a couple of bucks for.
And now that I think of it, I'm smiling again because she had no problem spending her money on expensive shoes and boots but she was always fond of cheap costume jewelry.

I smiled when I found the earring because one of our last lucid conversations involved her telling me that she lost her earring and that I probably ate it.

It's been just over 2 months since she died. I still pick up the phone to call her and my heart still hurts like hell when I realize I can't.
She'd kick my ass if she saw me still raw-as-fuck and numb to the bone all these weeks later but it's what I've got to work with.

I put the black plastic diamond in one ear and had a total John Waters moment from "The Breakfast Club" where John puts in the diamond and raises his fist as "Don't You Forget About Me" starts playing.

Don't worry, C, I won't. <3

Running errands with my son's girlfriend. She's got such a fun upbeat personality, cheerful disposition. I always have “oh I don't want to go” syndrome. But when I push past that, force myself to go out with her to do the stuff that needs to get done, I actually wind up having a good time.
