GOT MILK

I was out of milk (which I must have for my coffee) and a few other things, and so got myself ready to go out into the big bad scary world. And as I got off the elevator, I saw a fridge in our lobby (which I kinda looked at with a wtf). However, there was a sign on the front saying open to get food. So, I opened the door and what do you know, a bunch of 4 litre jugs of milk !!! Yogurt and whipped cream too !!!

Our building manager is a peach, eh? :)

Now if only I could get him to get us all masks... :)

I still need bread and butter and a few other basics, so it's off to the corner market I go... bye (wearing my bandanna, saving my few masks for more dangerous times ahead)

My new across-the-backyard neighbor, who is clearly enjoying his new yard. I can see him from my kitchen window, where I sit to work. He worked in his yard all weekend, and about two hours ago he came out and plopped himself down in the middle of it. He has been there ever since, taking pictures of squirrels (or something) with his camera, lying on his back looking up at the sky, and just chillin'.

Feeling

Smiling today to see the sunshine now 3 days in a row. Spring is looking good. It is really nice to see things coming alive in nature after the long winter sleep. I do love spring.

While on my walk this morning, I heard an owl hooting to other owls (the parents, maybe?) and I also noticed there is a woodpecker pecking on a diseased tree, which is nearby too. Further out on my neighborhood walk, there are Mourning Doves too. I love their birdsong.

Heck, with all the trees off-loading their pollen into the air, it's a small wonder that anybody can breathe (birds included).

But hearing a variety of birds nearby (geese, crows, owls, the woodpecker, mourning doves) makes my heart smile. :stillheart:

Smile Today

I got a very unexpected easter basket of chicks and eggs. I usually don't eat any sweets but I do have a weakness for marshmello chicks. So that made me smile.

I was speaking to my brother and he asked me if I would like to go back down home where we were born and buy a house between us. I am looking at that offer very seriously as you can get a 2 bedroom house down there for about $20,000 down and we can split that. Really gotta think on this and start looking.

My co-worker came over to give me a different laptop. We stayed socially distanced! He left the laptop on the hood of my car and we talked through the glass door. It was just nice to see him and to talk to someone in person!

Last week my job gave us 5lbs of ground pork this week ground beef.

My new across-the-backyard neighbors have two little girls. One has a green bike and the other has a pink bike. They are so little that they have to be pushed around by an older brother or sister. Cute!

Food processing plants that have closed down during this have done so to protect workers not customers. There is no evidence that the virus is transmitted via food product or packaging.

the virus does live on plastic and packaging ~ how long ? different times for different materials ~ at least 13 - 15 days on metals esp. stainless steal ~ this I saw a few weeks ago on a food safety segment ~ if more testing has been done and the numbers have changed I'm not sure about. it's a shame that everyone who works to accommodate the public are getting sick ~ where I live the confirmed cases are very high and still growing. we just don't know.

2 to 3 days on metal and plastic. Meat is stored and shipped refrigerated or frozen. Generally temperature has an effect on how long things last outside of the body. Long story short, if you were to contract it from food packaging, someone in the store is more likely to have shed the virus onto the packaging than to think it lasted from the processing plant to the store then into your hand.

I received a call from my bestie in Southern California today. She said her girlfriend/wife was driving her crazy. She needed to vent.

I told her, breathe. Get into your car. Drive around the neighborhood. Turn up the music and have a concert in your car.

She says..great idea!

ok ok ok this one is sure to make just about ANY pet lover smile.

So, Pete has a certain song where as soon as he HEARS the first words of it...like literally the first three words. it grabs his attention and he RUNS from where ever he is...just so he can "sing" with it..

I smile, and comfort/encourage his signing because it is, after all, the song of his people...

Was fooling around on the internet last night and found a great price on some :wine:. I'm talking, half the usual price! I ordered a case and I can pick it up today! :)

Listening to my Mom tell me last night about the sign of the times. You need a cell phone to text you have arrived to the pharmacy so they can bring it out to you.

I said welcome to the sign of the times...way late.

We both giggled as she said she needed to jump on the band wagon.

Norma, you have made my life so much better. Love you more and more every day

So my job just sent out a notice... We are already getting 2 per hour hazard pay... Then they gave a $100 per paycheck if you worked your schedule for the week.. Now an email came out that it is going up to $500 per pay period if you work all your hours scheduled... I am hoping that is not limited to production employees. It is supposed to go through the end of May.

Bèsame* 04-24-2020 03:05 PM

Smiling, I get to hear this today! Rather the whole weekend. In California, yearly, there is an event that the country music industry performs. It's called Stagecoach Weekend. Due to obvious reasons it was cancelled.

Well, SiriusXM's Country Highway station has created an event with some of the performers, live from their home. How cool is that?
It's like a live concert coming thru my blue tooth speakers. Sometimes you need a break from the visuals on the TV. It's making my afternoon so much more enjoyable...Friday smiling. Perhaps adult beverages may or may not be required. Lol

In case you want to follow along. And, I'm not positively certain, but I think I heard that SiriusXM is free till May something?

I'm pleased whenever I hear of a company that is trying to reward it's employees and help them get through this pandemic. It shows respect and integrity, I feel. I am essential and am getting squat so your post made me smile for you today.

Reading that Governor Newsom is set to close California beaches again.

:) :) :)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Gov. Gavin Newsom is set to announce the closure of all California beaches and state parks beginning Friday, May 1, KABC reports.

A memo from the California Police Chiefs Association says the decision was based on "well-publicized media coverage of overcrowded beaches this past weekend, in violation of Governor Newsom's Shelter in Place Order."

Newsom admonished beachgoers in Orange County for overcrowding during a Monday news conference.

The decision comes just after Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced the reopening of San Diego City beaches for exercise beginning Monday.

The City of Del Mar was scheduled to reopen its beaches on Thursday, but has since canceled that move in anticipation of Newsom's announcement.

Hoping he doesn't change his mind.

A Trump backing sheriff fired his lesbian deputy. So she ran for his job and simply just CRUSHED it.

Cincinnati’s Hamilton County is likely to elect their first openly gay sheriff this November—a former deputy who was fired by the current sheriff, who attended a Trump rally in 2016.

Charmaine McGuffey, who has won the Democratic nomination for county sheriff, has the kind of storied career in law enforcement you’d hope for in a candidate. She also has the honor of having been fired for being a lesbian who tried to get Hamilton’s current sheriff to act on systemic misconduct against women.

“The current sheriff and I got into a pretty serious disagreement about the practice of him not holding officers accountable for use of force and harassment of women, female officers, and female inmates,” McGuffey told LGBTQ Nation.

She took her time away to come to the conclusion that she could do a better job than the guy who fired her. Voters agree: in the Democratic primary last month, McGuffey beat him for this November’s nomination in a landslide.

Eye candy! A new tenant directly across from me is moving in. I don't know if she's butch, a year in Alaska taught me don't judge a book by it's cover, but gay, bi, straight whatever, anyway you slice it - she's a looker!

Just tried a new feature on our internet platform that saves me time when making updates. Wasn't sure this feature would work for what I needed. Thousands of error messages would have went out had it not worked, but it worked perfectly so not one error message was sent.

Relieved and smiling.
