I guess I should say more than that so....
I helped my cousin put a bunch of stuff up into her crawl space/attic. Then we got pizza, good Italian pizza with sweet sauce and fresh cheese and pepperoni and pineapple. Then I worked on my new studio space a bit, which I am very excited about. Then my cousin and I rode our bikes to the beach with her decrepit but scrappy little pomeranian in the basket- what a happy dog! Then I trimmed my hair and went to meet a friend at a lesbian and gay comedy benefit. I was a bit late so I ended up in the performer staging area and got to meet all the comedians and chat and hear all their candid assessments of the other performers (who were Hell-ar-ious!). Then I found my friend and met a bunch of new wimmin that I had never met before. Then we danced, and this sweet little gay guy (that was initially disappointed when he realized I was a dyke) and I were dancing and the media guy came up and showed us our picture and said he was using it for the paper because we were such silly a-holes and looked like we were having so much fun (it actually seemed like a close-up of my double chin situation, but whatever). A really fun day all around. Thank you for listening! :rainbowAfro: |
I woke up this morning, and my two fur kids were in a snuggle pile sleeping on their bed together. It was awfully sweet. Punks.

*Crawling sleepy-eyed out of my bed this morning, but getting on the road for a gorgeous drive. It was about 75 with blue skies. Incredible. Window down, radio blaring.
* My cafe au lait, which still might not be enough to keep me awake through work tonight. * Laughing when I walked into our Firehouse subs and one of the girls there started pulling my stuff in the middle of what she was doing. Yeah, I eat there a lot. I am Norm. They all know my name. *grin* * Spending time with my snugglebutt pups and catching my breath before my work shift tonight. |

After finally giving in and going to a doctor, I met the most amazing man. An aging hippie doctor who runs a true "free clinic". It was awkward at first, as with my history of chronic illness, he was at first ready to usher me on to another venue, but after a brief conversation decided I was "too interesting to let get away". LOL! ( I think he was excited to meet a Butch Dyke where so few exist!)
A slight, quirky fella, retired from what he deems the "for profit business of doctoring", having relocated to this remote wasteland of economics in the foothills of the blue ridge from Canada via Maryland, he spends his retirement assisting locals with the small ailments/ nuisances that would cost them a small fortune at a regular MD or "doc in a box" establishment. Admittedly ill prepared to offer much in the line of pulmonary illness treatment, he continued to examine me, talk through my history, make notes, suggestions for where best to seek medical care, fill me in on his political views regarding healthcare reform vs universal healthcare ( for which he is an avid proponent), and give me a much needed script for antibiotics and prednisone for my current exascerbated condition. As of late, I have felt very alone in my sense of fairness in world views, and this chance meeting gave me hope. He reminded me that we are truly a brotherhood of man.. we are our brother's keeper and it is our duty to seek fairness and elevate the just in the midst of the games of politics, even at the risk of placing ourselves in the line of fire. I am still under the weather but I know the much needed meds will kick in in a couple days, so there is light ahead. I am still in a state of flux with my personal beliefs, but I know I am not alone. This is joy. Thanks for the thread! |
The shower I took when I got home to day to wash off the road grime and get rid of a headache.

i spent the night at the home of friends so that i could help them put in a garden today. we woke this morning to half a foot of snow. so we did what all gardeners do...we drank coffee and made plans...and then we shoveled the walk and went about the gardening.
5 hours of breaking sod, picking rock, digging the manure into the new garden and putting in fence posts and now there is a beautiful 12 x 18 garden. the fencing will go up tomorrow. the snow turned to sleet and the sleet to rain...and the rain into a beautiful evening. a hot shower, dinner, tea and some pleasantly sore muscles make for the perfect end to a very fruitful day. and i only broke one nail. |
