Did You Know? Goats were amongst the first ever animals to be tamed by humans, so we've always had something of a close relationship with them. They can even be taught their name, and to come when called. What an animal!

Radiolab, a public radio show and podcast, is presenting a show that heavily features Dr. Fauci. However, the portion with Dr. Fauci focuses primarily on his involvement with the HIV/AIDS virus crisis.

This week's episode, "Ashes on the Lawn", examines what current movements can learn from the LGBTQ community's efforts during the HIV/AIDS crisis about mobilizing large groups of people and gaining media attention. ACT UP was especially vital during this period of our history, garnering attention with actions like the AIDS Quilt, dumping ashes of HIV/AIDS victims on the White House lawn, and a day-long demonstration and burning in effigy of Dr. Fauci. Dr. Fauci had the same job during the AIDS crisis that he does now - head of the NIAID, and he has advised six presidents on HIV/AIDs.

A timely and good reminder for all of us. It's important to remember what we're living for, especially when it's all too easy to be completely cynical in the face of crap like what happened this past week at the Capitol.

The pylons at Los Angeles airport and other buildings downtown are lighting up blue for Tommy Lasorda. He was a Dodger from his cap to his cleats. I was lucky to have seen many games at Dodger stadium. RIP
