I see Vivek will be in Springfield, Ohio tonight holding a town hall. I'm sure that Trump minion is there to see what might await Trump if he were to go there. I hope he gets soundly booed off his stage.

Looking forward to the VP debate tonight. I have my adult beverage chilling and the woodstove is prepped and ready to be lit. Let's see how many times JD sticks his foot in his mouth.

Comet Atlas over Golden Gate Bridge
Notice how the comet is traveling in what looks like a westward position, with the tail blazing in front of it; rather than traveling eastward with the comet’s tail behind it??? Mysterious (indeed). |
29 hours until my toes are in the sand. It will be 82* F and partly sunny.
29 hours and two minutes until I have a hurricane in my hand. (the drink) It'll be 5 o'clock somewhere. |

Just a quick question.
Why are all the red states in the path of Helene taking all that "communist money?" trump is now refuting 3k folks perished in Puerto Rico. Isn't his arm sore from tossing out all of those paper towels? Here is a full list of the Republicans who voted against FEMA funding before Helene. https://www.newsweek.com/republicans...unding-1963980 Republicans make me physically ill. |

We already have the cancer of Trumpism in the body of GOP officials but the Supreme Court is on standby to enact Amerikan Fascism and has already given American’s a “taste” of their brand of mind control. Don’t drink the poison from the chalice of the GOP. Save America with your voice and vote. Vote BLUE And,,,,,,, vote for a new ways to combat climate change. Your life depends on both issues. Newsflash from Poulsbo, Washington
So, some poor lady has been feeding little raccoons in her back yard for years and guess what happened on October 3rd???
100 raccoons showed up in her back yard demanding food and causing a bit of trouble. So she called for help. The local sheriff showed up and to help this lady learn a hard lesson to never leave kibble out to feed wildlife, the sheriff will rehome all the raccoons at $500/per raccoon, which translates to over $50k dollar fine. I am learning my lesson from her: never feed wildlife or you might end up in a pickle just like her (lol, or not) Link to video and news article: https://www.koin.com/news/washington...an-calls-help/ |

I have always enjoyed perusing the internet for news and answers to questions I might have. I have to say I am struggling with this habit (?). Biased information, false information, the disgusting comment responses on articles, it's all making me question the sanity of our nation. I am old enough to remember when computers first came on the scene and it was said it was the devil's tool. I have to believe who ever said that some 30 odd years ago was wise beyond their years.

Living Microbes Found in 2B-Year-Old Rock
According to researchers from the University of Tokyo, living microbes have been discovered within a 2-billion-year-old rock sample from South Africa's Bushveld Igneous Complex, marking the oldest known example of microbial life found in ancient rock and potentially revolutionizing our understanding of early life on Earth and beyond. The groundbreaking discovery took place in the Bushveld Igneous Complex (BIC), a massive geological formation in northeastern South Africa covering an area of approximately 66,000 square kilometers - roughly the size of Ireland12. This rocky intrusion, formed by slowly cooling magma beneath the Earth's surface, is renowned for its rich ore deposits, including about 70% of the world's mined platinum31. Researchers retrieved a 30-centimeter-long rock core sample from about 15 meters belowground, which revealed living microbial cells densely packed into cracks within the rock14. The BIC's stable environment, largely unchanged over billions of years, provided an ideal refuge for these ancient microorganisms to persist in igneous rocks over geological time scales. The discovery of living microbes in 2-billion-year-old rock has profound implications for our understanding of early life on Earth. By studying the DNA and genomes of these ancient organisms, scientists may gain unprecedented insights into the evolution of primitive life forms12. These microbes, which have survived in a stable environment for an extraordinarily long time, offer a unique opportunity to observe life that has scarcely evolved over geological timescales3. This finding pushes back the known boundaries of life's persistence in extreme environments, potentially rewriting our understanding of how life can adapt and survive in seemingly inhospitable conditions over billions of years. https://www.perplexity.ai/page/livin...SbKomCK7TUAwug Didn't Michael Crichton write about similar topics? The Andromeda Strain and Jurassic Park? or am I a billion years off? lol |
You asked but I’m not sure I can give you an answer (lol)
Quote:
I don’t think you’re a billion years off (you are so danged funny, lol). I think Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park is a great counter-narrative to the ongoing dilemma we see in national politics. Tiny facts I know about this book: it took 8 years to write this book and 5 years of pre-publishing chit chat before it went to print. To me, Jurassic Park is a modern day dystopian narrative about good vs evil. :balloon: :hk20: <<<<<<——— does not think you are not that far off; in fact I think your pov is timely. The study of microorganisms is worthy of review and study. :) |

It's a balmy 39.2F here right now (don't be jealous). Normal for fall around here until the real cold weather comes in.

It's 37 degreed F here. I got up at 4am and am getting ready to hop in the car to drive to Cambridge to see the final day of the Head of the Fish Regatta. I hope that, next year, life is calm enough for me to go for the full weekend. Anyway, it's going to get up to 70 so I'm piling on layers and bringing a backpack. Should be an exciting day! Oh, I also hope that, someday, I can row in this infamous regatta!

Laughing at my sleep deprived post above. 'twas the Head of the Charles regatta. The Head of the Fish regatta is a much shorter drive.

A grand slam is a home run that scores four runs, the most possible in one play. A walk-off occurs when the home team scores the winning run in the bottom of the final inning. The term "walk-off" comes from the fact that both teams walk off the field after the winning run is scored. History Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history on October 25, 2024, in Game 1 against the New York Yankees. Freeman's 423-foot home run gave the Dodgers a 6-3 victory and a 1-0 lead in the World Series. Rarity Walk-off grand slams in the postseason are rare, with only two in MLB history. |

I am having to be an adult about what happened 2 days ago, I am staying away from t.v. politics due to the top of my head exploding if I hear or see t-rump one more fucking time!
He received so much free airtime since his petulant, incompetent demented self cried like a 2 year baby wanting a cracker, all the damn time. I have talked myself off the ledge and will fight back, if I see something I will say something. No longer afraid of MAGATs. How come it seems to me that these spineless politicians have so many things in their closets and trump is blackmailing them? I can not figure out how so many sane politicians started taking the wrong pill. Why do they continually vote against their best interests? If there is a 20 or 30% tariff placed on goods coming in, the price is going to go up? No company withstands pricing hikes, it is always forwarded to the customer! They want to eliminate the EPA, the FDA, and so much more (that is for the collective good!) Ear-worm boy is suggesting we remove fluoride in the water! WTF! More kids will get cavities and other ailments. These people do not have the best interest of us. They care only for themselves, let's not forget that. 6 months to a year, they will have buyers remorse because guess what? They have no one else to blame but themselves. Let's just hope the good people don't suffer too much. Thank you all who voted for good on this board! |
I have seen numerous news reports showing the U.S. is literally on fire right now. I can't help but think it is Satan celebrating his son's reelection.

Laughing to myself. I'm watching MSNBC this morning and they have a clip of Matt Gaetz doing his podcast. Gaetz is going on how Republican leadership does not need to pick from the Johns ie John Thune, John Cornyn, John Barrasso. Hey Gaetz.... maybe nobody has told you but you are now an admitted "john" and you're right, we definitely do not need you in a Republican leadership role.

Avocado toast breakfast served with one clementine
Today I had one slice of toasted avocado bread with seeds and used half an avocado on my breakfast toast, then cooked one egg over easy and sprinkled hemp hearts and chia seeds over the egg and had my version of “avocado toast” for breakfast. One little clementine orange for the perfect shot of vitamin C.
