I watched both of these yesterday.
Excellent visual smorgasbord of dino stuffs and I learned a new trick to hide my scent for when I'm being hunted by one. Rawr. This was a good movie but it disturbed me at certain parts, especially how Chappie was treated as he was learning how to process his world. It mimicked the patterns of an abusive household with a child in it and when he was attacked and then attacked again, I actually had to get up and walk away from the TV for a minute. That was a surprise to me. Thankfully, things took a turn for the better. One thing that I noticed is that in these movies there were 3 actors who typically play good guy roles (a detective, an FBI psychologist and Wolverine) and they played against the type here I did not like that. I like my good guys good and my bad guys dead. |
Had a bad movie day yesterday (all courtesy of netflix)
Watched "Sharknado" finally. .. wow Tara Reid.. wow.. Then.. We watched the ah-may-zing "Killer Mermaid". This movied is bad. Lol. I cant even explain how bad. But the weirdest thing, i actually hope they make a part 2. No idea why. Lrobably because I love mermaids. |
I saw this yesterday.
It was pretty good. I like to stay until the end because sometimes they add scenes or do fun little things. They had a list called Production Babies. I'm assuming it's a list of babies that were born during the production, but anything's possible. It was a looooong list. Lots of sex with animators, apparently. |
We saw "Jurrasic World" today...meh
I liked the original "Jurrasic park" so much more. |
Lots of movies I WANT to see. Jurassic World for sure.
But I was begged by the cutest boy last night to go see 'Inside Outside' so I am (happily) going to see that right after work :D |
The last movie that I saw in the theatre, was, "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2".
On Netflix I watched, "Barnyard" with my roommate's two daughters and a friend. Zimmeh |
I guess that would be Chef on netflix...
I felt rather meh about it. I waited for it to get gooder....it just never got there. This morning I woke up early and started watching The Cobbler with Adam Sandler. Very disappointing in so many ways. I won't bother to finish it. |
Last night again for the umpteenth time I watched Begin Again
|
The Cobbler ending was better. The beginning sucked.
I saw this movie tonight: I liked it. It was comfortable, like a cozy sweater on a rainy day. |
We saw two movies this weekend. Now that we are not working on my house every weekend, we looked at each other, asked what we should do instead and said, in unison: "The movies!"
We saw the first one entitled Spy, with Melissa McCarthy. She was funny but the F word seemed to be every other word and they used the C word a couple of times and I really hate that derogatory word! We got great seats and the movie starts and in comes a woman pushing a baby carriage! WTF? She also brought a boy around 5 or 6 and they stayed throughout the movie. I kept wanting to cover his ears and felt very uncomfortable! Yes, the baby cried periodically throughout the movie. The movie was funny in parts and I do like Melissa but the language was over the top <<<< getting old, grannie. The second one we saw this weekend was very good. It was a science fiction but for all that I know, the technology may already be in practice. It made you think and entertained at the same time. I always like that in a movie! Ex Machina :movieguy: |
I forgot! We also saw Jurassic World.
Pure escapism, great special effects, not much of a story line and same general premise as Jurassic Park. It is more violent than Jurassic Park and not for small children. My GF's 5-year-old nephew is obsessed with dinosaurs. He recognizes them on sight, knows all of their names and really wants to go to this movie but it would be totally inappropriate to take him to see this one. Sorry, little guy. |
We finally saw "Spy" last night!
I love Melissa McCarthy, and she was hugely funny! But....I felt the movie over-all was a spoof on the improbable "one person takes down the crime ring" spy movies of the past. Maybe that's what it was supposed to be and i didn't get it, but i was a little disappointed anyway; Something funny but original would have been nice for a change. As for the language...most people don't talk like that, and it is really jarring to the senses. During those times she was spewing her swear words, i became disengaged from the movie...it just wasn't nessasary to go on like that. |
I finally saw Spy as well after hearing that it was a good movie from several friends. It turned out to be ok.
I also finally bought and watched twice already McFarlane....its my new favorite movie. |
Watched "Air Force One" on TV in French ( no subtitles ) How the Hell did Harrison Ford EVER make a career as an actor? The man has only 2 facial expressions: granite or panic... and if you're only understanding every fifth word of dialogue it's that much worse.

Manglehorn Al Pacino, Holly Hunter
The Seattle times gave this flick 3 stars out of 4 HOWEVER I felt it was a slow, boring, and tedious little thing that lasted way TO LONG! :movieguy: |
I watched this tonight.
It was good but not great. The effects were fantastic, though, and I loved the cinematography for the wedding scene especially. Tatum was good. I enjoy a good action flick with solid stunts. |
Little Miss Sunshine....some how it had passed me by first time out but I watched it on DVD the other night and quite enjoyed it.....
DC |
If you let the trailer run through, it will show some behind the scenes training for the dogs. There were multiple dog characters and several stand ins for each character in the movie. It's interesting to show how some of the scenes were designed. If you continue to let it run, it will have a public service announcement regarding Belgian Malinois dogs and the prevention of 101 Dalmations Syndrome. I think this is very important. If you have time, please watch! This was the perfect movie to watch on Independence Day, for a variety of reasons. I loved it and shed many a tear throughout. 5 stars |
saw Spy and quite enjoyed it...they even managed to be funny without a single "fat" joke...more comedians need to figure that out.
|
The bone collector
|
I watched Let's be Cops over the weekend....or somewhat I did... I fell asleep. Yeah, it was that good lol
|
Advance Style...
Advanced Style examines the lives of seven unique New Yorkers whose eclectic personal style and vital spirit have guided their approach to aging. These women were amazing, and I had been wanting to see this documentary for some time! It was well worth the wait IMHO:popcorn:
|
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Quirky high school awkwardness turns subtlety and smoothly serious. This movie was a real treat. Directing was spot on. |
Casino was on TV last night....
I don't know what it is about that movie, but if it's on, I'm watching it! Funny thing about it, it's such a long movie that I often forget entire parts and what happens next. It's kind of cool when there's that much detail to a film that you can watch it numerous times and still see something new... |
I saw Magic Mike and Terminator: Genysis today.
Okay, here's my beef with MM XXL. I never saw the original but appreciate a little tilt in the sexual objectification game. I thought this would be a fun movie but even when the guys are the ones on display, women are still being put into compromising situations. Just because someone goes to a strip show does not mean they automatically want someone's crotch ground into their face. Seriously. I'm not talking in the general direction of someone's face. I'm talking a couple inches away to actually being ground on. Sometimes with hair pulling and head yanking. I need to know you a little better than that for that shit to happen. I was really wound up about it when I left the theatre but I've calmed down now. Yes, this is me calm. There was, however, a really nicely constructed swing. :eyebat: Terminator, however, did not disappoint. It was FANTASTIC. Now, for the sake of transparency, I've been a Terminator girl since day one. Love the series. They did a remarkable job blending younger/older Arnie battling together and the stunts are stupid crazy good. |
I finally finished watching Frankie and Alice with Halle Berry.
It took me 4 nights..:| NOT because it wasn't an interesting movie. It was. I'm just always so tired by the time I stop for the day that I fall asleep....a lot |
It's actually an HBO series... Olive Kitteridge. I've been wanting to see it and am finally on episode 2 (of 4 I think). Excellent so far....

Woman In Gold Helen Mirren Ryan Reynolds
Maria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish refugee, takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family. This was art work stolen by the Nazis! Enjoyed it very much:movieguy: |
I watched 2 movies today.
This was okay. I never read the book series so I'm not too upset over it but there was a lot left to be desired. I liked the dragons, even though they were the bad guys and gals in the movie. This movie surprised me. I didn't expect much and it was a freebie for me so it was an absolute pleasure that I really enjoyed it. I love me some Eve and all of the main female roles were strong. Good acting. Situations I could relate to. A win win. |
Clouds of Sils Maria (2014)
A veteran actress comes face-to-face with an uncomfortable reflection of herself when she agrees to take part in a revival of the play that launched her career 20 years earlier. I really didn't care for it but check it out and see what you think:popcorn: |
I saw this.
It was really cute and, if you go, STAY through the WHOLE thing. ALL of the credits. Otherwise you'll miss stuff. And, for fun. |
Danny Collins Al Pacino Annette Bening Jennifer Garner
An aging rock star decides to change his life when he discovers a 40-year-old letter written to him by John Lennon. It was a bit different but I rather enjoyed it:popcorn: |
Too Late for Tears (1949)
Through a fluke circumstance a ruthless woman stumbles across a suitcase filled with $60,000, and she is determined to hold onto it even it if means murder. SPOILER ALERT And murder it is, she kills one after the other!I really enjoyed this film noir flick:popcorn: I pray I never come across a woman a vicious and heartless as this Jane Palmer! |
I really enjoyed this movie a lot. It was very funny, had heart and underneath it all; had a sweetness.
I also liked that the female lead enjoyed her sexuality and made no apologies for it and neither did the movie. The theater was packed! Trainwreck (2015) R | 125 min | Comedy | 17 July 2015 (USA) Having thought that monogamy was never possible, a commitment-phobic career woman may have to face her fears when she meets a good guy. Batman
The Adam West, 1966 version:) |
This past week I have seen:
Closer (this is a repeat because I really like Natalie Portman) My Brother's War - I liked this. Though slow to start. Fireflies in the Garden - This was really good. |
I like to be entertained. That's just what this delivers. Good story. You can't help but root for her to figure it out. Amy Schumer is just freakin' funny. Period. Plus, I like being in during the genesis of what promises to be a long, successful career for her. And, I have a fondness for Bill Hader, leftover from his brilliant characterizations on SNL. It's like a summer read. Fun. Entertaining. Time worthy. |
I saw this tonight.
I enjoyed it but was glad that I didn't pay full price in the theatre for it. |
Watched "You've got mail" :) havent' seen it in a very long time. It's one of my top 10 movies.
|
Amy
The ultimate eulogy to a talented young woman who had her demons stoked by those closest to her. Not an original story. Unfortunately. I'd recommend seeing it only if you are/were a die-hard fan of Amy Winehouse. Otherwise, wait for on-demand or Netflix and then only a bargain matinee because it's more like an E True Hollywood Story than a rich documentary. But, then again, she wasn't around long, but she did leave a mark. |
