thank you Jen for doing this!!!!
you rock

amiyesiam 07-02-2011 03:13 PM

My reunion project is done
I kind of did what I was supposed to do
sort of
however
I am very happy with what I have done
it is all less than a quarter of an inch thick
and
ready to be bound
Corkey is almost done too

A thought:

I took pictures of mine, what if we all did that?
then maybe right before the reunion we could post them?
probably in the thread?
that way everyone could see what we did
even those not going
it might brighten their day

cara 07-02-2011 08:24 PM

I just wanted to let you all know that because of my past participation in some of the projects on this thread, I am able to purchase and store cheese in the freezer and refrigerator. Because aluminum foil just doesn't keep cheese fresh and I refuse to buy plastic baggies unless I absolutely have to. So...Thank You! :D

That is all.

I receive my packet of art!! Wow! Risky, frisky and beautiful!
I just want to say that mine was risky because I never used one of my (iPhone) photos in an art project before, and neither have I used glitter. I had taken the photo in preparation for the ill-fated "wet dreams" on my birthday during a visit to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and decided to use it (did you notice the shiny copper coins at the bottom corner?). Looking for a suitable way to mount the photos, I found I had enough mats recycled from a printing studio, and decided to actually "frame" them. Wanting the "frames" to look rich and opulent, I decided to use glitter I had purchased from Martha Stewart Christmas Craft Fair (thinking I would use it to make cards, which never happened).
I was pretty pleased with the results!

Elle*, looking forward to the next project, and very contrite about realizing I never sent Jenny the money!

nycfem 07-03-2011 10:27 AM

Hopefully the rest of you will receive your projects on Tuesday :)
Since Elle and I both live in NY the mail is only a hop, skip, and a jump away.
I hope that as people receive their packages, they will come to the thread and explain what risk they took and how they did it. I love hearing about that just as much as the art itself! Also, it teaches us all new techniques. I also like hearing about people's emotional process when doing something new :)

UPDATE

Tommi's gorgeous projects have been mailed out individually, including one Tommi made for Cara. Cara was not part of this project but luckily I know her address and was able to send it directly from the USPS today :)

Thanks for your service above and beyond the call of duty, and getting them out individually....and thanking the beloved USPS having them. :praying:

Yes. back to sculpting and painting.

Wishing you all a safe and sane Holiday,
and a
great summer.

purepisces 07-04-2011 02:29 PM

Two of my six PLANET pages done. It's taking longer than I thought! I had hoped to finish all six by the end of the weekend, but it doesn't look like I'm going to make it.

I can't wait to get the Risk project, I hope it's here tomorrow!

Corkey 07-04-2011 02:37 PM

I'm done with my Planet projects I did two instead of 3, hit a creative block for one.
They will go in the mail on the 12th.

nycfem 07-04-2011 02:38 PM

Can I get a reminder of what size each page should be?

Any size up to 8.5 X 11 (normal letter sized paper).

Leave at least a quarter inch for the binding!

Ya'll will see that I've included my thought process along with each piece, but if you have any questions about how or what I did, just holler!

purepisces 07-04-2011 04:20 PM

I finished one more! Only three to go. But, I think I'm going to have to wait until next weekend, my imagination is burned out.

purepisces 07-04-2011 04:23 PM

[QUOTE=Gemme;371991] Leave at least a quarter inch for the binding!

Good advice. I ended up having to do one over because I forgot to leave binding space. I'm being more careful now.

To kindly correct gemme.

You do not, if you are doing a normal size paper have to leave any room for binding. the book is bigger than that and I am doing some additional things to make it more cohesive after I receive them.....so please fill up the page if you so desire.

Corkey 07-05-2011 02:18 PM

I loved every single one! Thanks all for the time spent, the beauty shared, and the chances taken!! :)
