Good morning!
I am dancing right now! I have lost 2 pounds this week!! Yeah!
Not only that but got into the next decade! I believe that I shared that I look at each 10 pounds as a decade, rather than the overwhelming amount that I had started with. Much easier mentally to do it that for me. To tell myself: You can lose 10 pounds! When I accomplish that, I move onto the next 10. Exercise is key too. I had stopped walking for several months but am back to that again. When my dogs died I just stopped caring and it was shocking how fast the pounds came back on. I gained back 10 of my 50, in less than 6-months! I am actually losing the same pounds I already lost damn-it! Oh well, did it before, will do it again! Hang in there everyone:) |
Good morning everybody.
That sounds like a great meal Pinkie! Good job everybody on your journeys to healthiness. Some great progress and inspiration. Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend! |

It is so much easier to focus on weight loss in small increments... and 10 pounds at a time is the way to do it! It keeps us from being so overwhelmed thinking "oh crap, I've gotta lose 100 pounds". Yeah, that would certainly sabatoge even the strongest of wills! We are all proud of you Anya and look forward to seeing more success on your journey! |
My official weigh-in isn't until tomorrow, but I had to jump on the scale this morning because, honestly, I was a little worried.
Last week I spent 4 days sitting in a hotel conference room, eating the breakfast and lunch supplied by the seminar...and trying to eat a healthy dinner. This week I was 3-1/2 days in AZ at our corporate office, where everyone wants to take me out to lunch and dinner. And in between I was on planes, in airports, stuck in hotel rooms....and really didn't have access to the healthier stuff I've been living on. I was nervous....and wildly relieved to see that this morning I weighed exactly the same as I did when I left 2 weeks ago. No loss, but no gain either. I feel like I dodged a bullet! :) |
Congrats Jo Jo!!!

Thank you Rockin,

So I did pretty good this week. I am one week ahead of the goal I set for November 18. My next goal deadline is Jan 6 for the next 10 pounds. I am actually not too worried about Christmas. Mostly cause I am seriously allergic to chocolate... and lets face it Christmas = chocolate. So voila, instant problem solver. My kids are the beneficiary of the chocolate I get as gifts. Lucky them eh!!
I skipped one Zumba class this week. I took Monday off as a mental health day. Good thing I did because we had our first blizzard of the season Monday. Apparently a 15 minute drive turned into a 2 hour nightmare. However, our next "winter storm warning" was yesterday. It snowed from 7 am straight through to 8:30 pm. I am so glad I can walk to my gym and the classes start right after work. I miss most of the crazy traffic by the time my class ends. Yesterday was Zumba. I love Zumba. Anything that can make me sweat like that AND smile, is ace is my books. I finally measured. The only measurement that did not change was my chest. I love my girls and I am in no hurry to see them go. :winky: I don't remember having thighs like this since I was like way younger. All of my jeans fit different, well most of them don't fit anymore. :happyjump:. I can now pull my favorite ones (well new favorite with the weight loss) off without unzipping them. I was all like...holy moly... or some words like that. I use cleaner language online so readers don't think I am just one major potty mouth. But I have to admit I can be. Jo congrats on no gain. Sounds like you were relieved. I am so delighted when I come to this forum and see new posts in this thread. I am always excited to see what wonderful accomplishments we have. And how we encourage each other. I am always touched. (And not always in a helmet way either, although....) So, that is my update. I am going back to work now. I am off to yoga after. And then....ooooohhhh la la I am going to a CD release party for Kate Reid. If you have never heard of her, go to youtube. She is a great songwriter and a pretty darn good singer & oh yeah eye candy for me. Good thing that is not fattening!! :giggle: |
Ok...This week has NOT been a good one. Had 2 Thanksgiving dinners, 1 at each hospital. Next week has got to be better!!!! LoL
I did workout everyday this week. Took tonight off, cause my BFF came in. Hope y'all have a fantastic weekend!!! |
Yesterday I had pizza for the first time in over a year.
It's still trying to kill me. :| Guess that's off the menu for good. |

I needed to eat something after a job really late, and the ONLY thing open was Del Taco (blahhhh). I ordered a chicken burrito, and wow.... it is still sticking with me 2 days later! I feel so bloated and disgusting and it made me remember why I don't eat that garbage anymore. I also went out last night and had too many drinks and crab enchiladas (I only ate half). It did not help the cause. Back to lean meat, brown rice and veggies again to get this show on the road!!
Hugs!! Starry |
It's amazing how our systems change once we stop eating the bad stuff...
The last two weeks were challenging since I've been in hotels and restaurants so much. I tried to stick with oatmeal, fruit and yogurt for breakfast...and passed on as much of the carbs as I could manage....tried to stick with protein and lots of veggies. It worked....I didn't gain anything at the very least. The hardest was dinner out with my boss and counterpart...at an awesome Mexican restaurant. I passed on the chips and salsa and all the appetizers, and ordered a salad with black beans, corn, red cabbage, pumpkin seeds and other things I don't recall. It was yummy....but the cheese enchiladas and tamales were still calling my name. I did weaken and have a margarita though. :) |
Good Morning all!!! Legs and cardio done!!! Thought I was going to have to crawl out of the gym by my lips!
Have a fantastic sunday!!! |
Good Morning Everyone,
All of the running down the stairs in the parking garage and walking with Ruff and Jo Jo, has me down to a size 10 misses pants...Something that I have never been before... I am cutting back on the coffee and having tea instead; which is helping with the bloating and hyperness that I get from drinking coffee. Breakfast: Either one waffle or one slice of peanut butter toast and one cup of tea with one teaspoon of creamer Lunch: Friday it was Chik-Fil-A Saturday was vegatarian black bean soup. I snacked on the soup without the juice Dinner: Thursday: Curry Chicken with rice - I ate more of the rice and veggies- Friday: Tacos minus the tortilla and yellow rice - I ate enough until I was content Saturday: Wonton soup - ate it sparingly until I was content again Snacks: Thursday: Banana with some cookies from the potluck Friday: Turtles -1 Saturday: Lay's chips - personal bag- and chocolate milk Have a great day, Zimmeh |

On another topic... I like rice. I am not a huge brown rice fan. I love basmati rice and wild rices. I recently found a rice called "Forbidden Rice" which is a pure black rice. Its delicious! I bought 6 - 15 oz bags for 22.00 on Amazon. Its excellent with veggies, bake salmon, anything. |
I havent been to good on my food plan the last fue days, not off it much but I sitll need to get my ducks back in a row.I feel no guilt just need to get back on the program.

Good Morning Everyone,
I just had my last solid breakfast of one and a half waffles with water. Not the best breakfast, but atleast it is something. My dentist appointment is at 10:45am this morning...:byebye::sunglass::seeingstars::eatinghe rsheybar: Hope you all have a fantastic day and I will see you all this afternoon! Zimmeh |
Way to go everyone, I am so unmotivated but this thread helps! Ok I'm back. I had fun spoiling myself after my stomach bug but I can feel my jeans getting tight again so I need to get moving. 10 pounds needs to come off, at least. Had yogurt, banana and blueberries this morning. I also found a cool app on my iphone called *My Fitness Pal* ... http://lifesajournal.files.wordpress...7d166202a.jpeg You can punch in what your desired weight is etc and it logs your calorie intake if you are counting them. Also a bajillion foods with caloric value. Also has a buddy system so if anyone wants to add me my name is deecajun. It's also great for looking up stuff, what a shocker as I haven't counted calories in ages. I just can't do the low carb right now, even though it's the easiest for me. |
Good Morning everyone :bouquet:
This morning was my weigh in, and i lost 2 more lbs, so 65 lbs gone forever!!! It's been a very difficult week for me, and i was really scared to weigh in. i've had some really challenging moments with binging, wanting to purge, etc..blah! But i'm back in this and ready to rock a much BETTER week! So, i'm quite excited for 2 lbs lost.. Yesterday, i began what is called the 28 day bootcamp workout challenge, which i found on SparkPeople.. Yesterday was a 10 minute cardio routine, which i completed.. Today, i start some toning along with 30 mins of cardio, and believe i will do that each day.. Not sure though, i need to go check in for day 2.. SparkPeople i started really participating last week, and the encouragement and support i am finding on that site is wonderful, i'm loving it so far.. i restarted the 100 pushup challenge yesterday.. Decided doing that, the squat challenge & the situp challenge was too much at once, i got overwhelmed and just quit.. So, doing one at a time along with my regular cardio, etc will be enough.. Once i complete that one, then i'll start another. i started something new on the treadmill (when i use it), i still love walking outside wayyy more... i usually walk at the speed 2.5 right now, i do that for 5 mins and now i speed it up to 3.5 (so i'm jogging) for 1 minute, then back down to 2.5 again for another 5 minutes, then i up it again for a minute, etc etc.. i did that for about 25 minutes yesterday... On Friday, i made my own homemade salsa (which was so pretty, colorful & delicious!) & then used my salsa to make the Salsa Chicken recipe i posted last week sometime... i would definitely make it again and again.. It made a lot so i'm going to freeze some today, otherwise i'll be eating it all week, lol. Breakfast today: 1/2 cup cheerios 1/2 cup grapes 1/2 cup skim milk 1 yogurt, blueberry Morning snack: 1 medium banana Lunch: Salsa chicken with an ancient grain wrap, YUM! 1/2 cup watermelon for dessert |
Salsa chicken?? Sylvie could you share the recipe? I don't eat chicken much and other than baking it (extra crispy lol) or gumbo I really don't know how to cook it. I had taken some frozen chicken out to cook tonight and am lost. So you just add salsa after it's done? We all love the salsa and I have tons of it home made from the summer garden.
Thanks in advance! |
Hi Dee!
Of course i will - i'm a huge salsa fan as well, hehe.. i am a huge fan of chicken, though.. It's all i eat (and fish too).. i don't much eat other meats.. i found this recipe on SparkPeople.net.. i made my own Salsa like i said, and i made a few changes to the recipe.. i added lotsa fresh mushrooms, cuz i love them.. i lessened the taco seasoning, (cuz i watch my sodium like a hawk).. & there was so much flavor with my salsa etc anyway...And of course making my own salsa cut back on some sodium as well.. Also, i didnt add the water, because there was enough juice from the tomatoes in the salsa and the diced tomatoes..Depends on how much vegetables you use etc, i gather.. http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/foru...postcount=2220 |
Cajun_Dee Chicken is easy and fun. The big thing is to get the boneless skinless version. Tons of protein not much fat.
I make chicken parm by taking about 4 oz (which is not a complete breast BTW) dipping it in egg white and bread crumbs and a little parmesan. I heat up a cast iron fry pan with about a teaspoon of olive oil in it and drop it in there. I don't cook it over the stove, I put the whole mess in the oven at 350 for about 6 minutes per side. Crunchy exterior, minimal damage. Then I heat up some diced tomatoes add some basil and garlic and cook up some whole wheat spaghetti. The whole thing with a salad is about 400 calories for dinner. Or I also throw it on the grill. About 6 minutes per side. I use that Cajunland lemon pepper seasoning on it. Or cut it into about 1 inch cubes and saute it in a little olive oil with some salsa and put it in a tortilla. Throw some lettuce on that and a little more salsa and you've got tacos for about 350 calories. |
If you've been on the fence about soda read this article:
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...1121_DNL_art_1 This includes regular soda and diet. You really should read it and do additional research if that's what it takes. |
I buy this wild caught tuna from amazon called Sustainable Planet. It's delicious. One of the biggest challenges for me staying healthy is my love of spicy food and lots of flavors. I'm also super busy and often have to make meals ahead of time. I'm addicted to this snack/meal.
I use my mini food processor, chop pickled jalapenos, sometimes celery too. Then a can of tuna and a very small amount of mayo. You don't need much. I whip it up and serve on organic whole wheat pita or a whole grain cracker. I love putting it in a pita the stuffing the rest with fresh tomato and or arugula. Then my next fast, filling snack is any kind of hummus. You can buy some or use the countless easy recipes online. I even eat this in the morning for breakfast, lots of hummus and a huge handful of arugula all smashed into whole wheat bread or pita. This also helps me get even more raw healthy greens throughout my day. opps so really I keep lots of pita in the freezer and take out what I need. Then I have tubs or tuna, hummus, goat cheese, tomato sauce, grilled veggies and sometimes chicken. I can whip something up pretty fast these days, all natural, organic and can still satisfy my cravings. I'm a huge foodie! |

Your salsa chicken sounds yummy! We eat A LOT of chicken in our house... and I often get bored with the same meals, so I will definitely try this out. THANK YOU! |
Good morning & happy Monday all you healthy folks! It's such incredible motivation to come in here and see the continued success! Y'all keep up the amazing work!!!
I've been doing pretty good keeping my points under control. I'm trying to drink as much water as I can, and then alternating to iced tea with meals. I still do drink the occassional soda maybe twice a week. My downfall has always been getting my body going. Seriously, as much as I work and/or play, I feel like there is never enough time in the day to devote to exercise. But, I know that I can and WILL make the time... even if it's 30 minutes a day to do a video or take a walk. Meals planned for the day... Breakfast: Raisin bran cereal with 2% milk a banana Lunch: leftover chicken & veggie stir fry over steamed rice Dinner: peanut butter & jelly sandwich on a deli thin an apple Snack: yogurt string cheese and/or 100 calorie pack of almonds Y'all have a great day!! |
Could someone please stop by my house, close my laptop and drag me to the treadmill?

I NEED to drink more water, I just don't like it. I used to try to say that it was the main ingredient in coffee, but that didn't fly :| |

Doesn't that sound like fun??!!?? |

Thank you Ma'am :) Will make this for Monday dinner, I am Venisoned out and don't eat much other meat, but I know I need protein. So if I drown the chicken in yummy stuff I can choke it down. We are mushroom lovers here too so I always have em on hand, and never would have thought about them, sounds great! I was SHOCKED at how much sodium is in those seasoning packets, I used to use one to make pasta salad until I read it. Now I just make my own, and its better :) Also can veggies are chock full of sodium, frozen has literally no sodium. We have lots of frozen veggies in the fridge so they will get tossed in too. I try to sneak them in when I can. Thanks Diavolo I love cooking anything in cast iron, and with Cajun Spice, you can't go wrong . :winky: |

Holy moses I lost another pound, how I will never know cause ive been eating more food than useal,I will take it and b glad it went gone. The next fue days will be some what of a trial with holliday cooking,im still cooking the bird but changing some of the ways I fix the rest of the meal. For the veggie dish im steaming some bag veggies,we r going to have home made dressing w/giblet gravy but if u use the mix in the small bags from the grosery store there isnt any oil or fats in it plus the claories are low along with the carbs..5 carbs.Im makeing cranberry sause on my own with splenda wich will cut the sugars from it,I am bakeing an apple pie but again splenda insted of sugars in it..to add flavore in roasting some corse choped pecans to bring out the flavor in them then adding them to the pie..Im geting a store bought crust but im looking for one with the least carbs and calories.Im doing my best to make this meal as healthy as I can with out loseing the idea of a holliday meal.I figure up the carbs and calories from a normal t-day meal wich is in the thousands of carbs and calories fort he total meal not the individual serveings,I fugure I can cut that by 3/4 of what it was...anything that needs butter will have to do with molly mcbutter insted of the real thing.

i hear you about the sodium, actually i am off all processed foods, except a few very select things.. Now when i eat something that has salt in it, can i ever taste it.. *zing* i always add whatever veggies as i go, i tend to make recipes my own lol - in all honesty, i think i would like the salsa chicken minus the taco seasoning even.. and using spices of my own.. Anyway, happy cooking ! Hope you like :) |

Each time i even lose a lb, i want to cry i get so excited.. And i know exactly what you mean, i continually get motivated by you all and your journeys, you all keep me going each day.. if i feel unmotivated, i take a few moments and get reading in here and think hell yeah, it's ON! The salsa chicken was delicious, just had it for lunch today, again..i often get bored of the same meals too, so promised myself (starting last week) that i would find one new recipe to try each week... That reminds me, i better get hunting for one for this week, heh.. |
Oy... Sodapop!
For years and years, i drank Pepsi, and then switched to Diet Pepsi.. (thinking it was healthier, lol...) It was all i drank, with the occasional sugary juices.. Back in April, i decided on a whim, i was ready to quit, for the sake of my health & i did.. i haven't touched it since.. i had headaches for a few weeks, and cravings that made me almost crazy, but i stayed strong and finally.. After i got out of that 3 week period, i started feeling better.. Not just better, but literally like my whole body smiled from head to toe, lol.. i don't seriously crave it anymore.. i do have days where if someone else is drinking it, that i wish i could too, THEN i crave it, but it passes fast for me.. So glad i got off of it.. i wasn't strong like some of you who can manage to have one or two here and there.. i had to just downright quit it, altogether. One sip makes me want it bad again.. |

Thank you! I didn't realize that is the same chicken salsa recipe I saw before and wanted to make, I am so glad you posted it today. It's in the Magnalite pot now (I am so thankful I was reunited with it) and smelling the whole house up. I was running behind time so I boiled the chicken first then threw it in with all the rest of the stuff. I am going to do some Basmati rice so Syr doesn't starve to death but I am still thinking it's pretty darn low in calories. Congrats on all of your achievements, you are inspiring for sure. |
