Spda pop again.
Up intill I started this quest for health I drank a 12 pack or more a day of regular coke I figure it a 24 cans in a carton X 7=168 cans a week to 168 cans X 4= 672 a month so now I drink less that one 24 pack a month...makes a bigh diffrence..I may not have drank 672 cans a month but real close to it.

I'm a big advocate of vitamin C. I buy a huge container of NOW citric acid, pure vitamin C- its sour! I stir a bit in my water now and then and add a little raw organic agave to it. It's like lemonade. You can also but fruit infuser which basically lets you fill a mesh type tube and submerge it into a decanter of water. I prefer my water plain but this is a good way to get more water if you don't like it plain. |
Dee here is the glass fruit infuser

You can even buy a good sparkling mineral water like pelagrino and pour it in. |
Tonight was jambalaya. Chicken andouille sausage, turkey breast, brown rice and a ton of spice so I forget that there's barely any fat in it!

Being I dont drink sodas anywhere like I use to,I keep a pitcher of ice water in the fridge, plus I keep bottles of desani water in the freezer to take with me when I go any where..I defrost them enough for water to slosh in the bottle and off I go,these are the 2 1/2 serveing bottles so im drinking atleast 3 a day.

Good Morning Everyone,
I had yogurt, soymilk and ice cream all day and I woke up from my nap to no pain! Woohoo.. This morning I had: Breakfast: Chobani Greek Yogurt with a glass of soymilk. Snacks: Applesauce -Publix has it on sale for $1.99 for the large jar of Motts- Lunch: I am going to try and have one scrambled egg so I can get my protein in today Dinner: Not sure yet. I may have some soup. It is hard to eat due to my baby tooth in the front being pulled; so I cannot bite into anything. Have a wonderful day! Zimmeh |

((((((((Zimmeh))))))))))) I'm glad that you aren't in a lot of pain after the dentist. Just take it easy honey! If you have to stay on liquids, pick up some Ensure so you know that at least you are getting plenty of nutrients. |
Double Creme
I confessed in the I Confess thread...and won't bring up the 'trigger food" here.
I can't eat just One of anything...unless you consider the whole package. :seeingstars: |
I didn't think about picking those up lastnight..I may go out today and get some. It feels odd having my lip finally touch my gums since my baby tooth is gone. I am going to the movies this afternoon with a friend and I still have tomorrow off. My dentist gave me a dr's note just in case I need to call out on Thursday. Which I need to call my supervisor after my phone interview for a holiday job, to see how many personal days I have. If I have enough, then I will call out and give myself an extra day of rest. I still blame a lot of the issues I have with my teeth due to the high sugar diet I had as a kid and up until 2007. If I knew now back then, I would have giving up soda back then and saved myself the trouble that I am in now.
How are you doing this morning? Zimmeh Quote:
|
Zimmeh, take a look at the protein replacement drinks. I used Myloplex and Muscle Milk after I had a tooth pulled.
My dentist told me to stay away from dairy that it would help in the healing after I had the tooth extracted. I did and he was shocked when I came back in and it was healed over. He said "Did you do what I asked you to?" I said "to the letter". He said that nobody ever listens to him and it was amazing to see how fast I had healed. He also said no straws, fwiw. |

I am doing good, just working like a mad woman trying to finish up a short work week and get ready for Thanksgiving. Yep, I STILL haven't gone to the grocery store yet... and I'm the one cooking dinner :) |
I found some Cranberry Stuffing from Stove Top yesterday and I am looking forward to making it on Thursday...I went to Ulta last Friday and picked up a few stocking stuffers for my nieces, but I haven't gone shopping just yet..I may end up giving everyone money this year since I don't know what to get them. Ulta has this candy cane hand lotion and cranberry hand lotion..They smell yummy...

Good Morning Diavolo,
The whole no drinking from a straw was the first thing he told me not to do. I have been rinsing my mouth out after I drink the soymilk and eat my yogurt and I am using a pink baby toothbrush to brust my top teeth...Which is weird...:seeingstars: I will try eating solid food by the end of the week. Have a great day, Zimmeh Quote:

Sylvie's salsa chicken was a hit!!! We all loved it and they arr already requesting it again!! Thanks again. Have a great day everyone :) |
Today I made organic boneless chicken thighs I got on sale with a coupon. I placed them in glass baking dish, pour EVOO on them, then smothered them with mushrooms, garlic, some wild oregano and tossed some dried cranberries in. The cranberries were an afterthought but it came out really nice. Then got a bunch of containers and put rice, the chicken on top and some organic veggies, making my own little healthy TV dinners. I use to buy a lot of Amy's Organic frozen dinners, I still do, but cut back after seeing the amount of sodium in it! wow
Now I'm cooking extra every meal and freezing some. Saves me so much time and money, especially eating as much organic as I do. One can of organic beans ( 99 cents) can span over three meals. The organic frozen veggies are often on sale and I buy LOTS. You can stir fry them, eat them as a side. Oh also I wanted to add.... most frozen dinners, organic or others, the serving size is too small for me. I try and stay away from lean cuisine but when I did eat them I'd eat two! so I make my own dinners, add more veggies, less rice and then include a salad. I'm a pretty big eater. |
Just got back from my pre-Thanksgiving shopping, which occurred at the farmer's market...
I picked up my turkey...fresh, not frozen...raised with all organic grain diet and no antibiotics. I also got:
|
This sounds yummy!!! Can you FedEx me some of the veggies? I picked up a six pack of ensure drinks, ramen soup, tuna and Triscuit crackers from the grocery store. I bought ice cream lastnight, which didn't sit to well with me so my roommate can now have it..
Have a good day, Zimmeh PS. Love your picture! Quote:

I'm a member of Weight Watchers though I'm terrible at tracking anything. But, honestly, I've been on it (on and off) for so many years that I know what I can and shouldn't eat. I'm also a diabetic, so weight loss will help all that better than any meds will. I try to make it to the gym for an hour 3-4 times a week. There's a Planet Fitness in my town and they're super cheap, no frills and open 24-hours during the week. In the land of protein drinks, I'd like to recommend Oh Yeah! brand shakes. They're lactose-free, really high in protein, and taste pretty good. I drink only the chocolate shakes and since I buy them from Amazon, they're the same price as the other brands. Good luck to everyone! I'm still catching up on all the back posts, so I'll drift back in once I see what the rhythm is here. |

Rooster and I are opting for a less traditional menu....turkey, mashed potatoes (no gravy because neither of us miss it), green salad, fresh fruit salad, corn on the cob....and a one crust apple pie for dessert. |

Thanks for sharing!!! I have been taking Aleve...doesn't help. |
Good Morning Everyone,
Thank you Tonya for suggesting the Ensure drinks! I picked up a six pack of them and I am keeping them for when I go back to work tomorrow. I wen to the movies lastnight and I had a handful of popcorn and I ate it one piece at a time and drank water right behind it. I looked like a squirrel trying to eat it, but it was delicious! I then went to Olive Garden and had their chicken & gnocchi soup and was able to eat that. As long as I don't attempt to bite into anything, I will be good. I am not craving any form of candy, coffee or tea..Which means, that I probably will not go back to the coffee or tea once this is done and I will cut back on candy. I am thinking of making pumpkin bread for work tomorrow. I can eat that... Have a great day all, Zimmeh |
Good morning healthy friends :)
Well, I have learned that even healthy snacks can be overdone. I picked up a bag of pistachios yesterday at the farmers market (forgot to put those on my list...also asparagus and a couple other things). Anyway...nuts are on my "yes" list. And these were unsalted, fresh and beautiful. I was nibbling away at them and suddenly...ACK...the bag is empty. Normally, I put snacks into a little bowl instead of eating right from the bag anymore, but I was distracted and simply forgot. This morning, my stomach is not impressed with me. On a happier note, the scale informs me this morning that I am the lightest I have been since I moved to Florida over a year ago. Yay! |
Congrats Jo Jo!!!!

Woooooooohooooooooo CONGRATS Jo on your numbers this morning! I bet that started your day off in a great way!
As for the pistachios... there is no way in hell I could only eat one! Once I get started, you have to physically take the bag away from me :) Sorry your tummy is not happy with you today! |
Good morning & happy Thanskgiving EVE healthy peeps!
As you can guess, I STILL haven't made my way to the grocery store to shope for tomorrow's dinner. Ugh, I'm a total slacker. In my defense, I was patiently waiting to see if my 2nd job was gonna give us our Thanksgiving bonus, like they've done every year. It's always a $100 gift card to Walmart... so I was hoping to save my cash & use the card. Well, it doesn't look like I will get it till tonight, so I'll be one of those crazy people fighting over a ham at the last minute :) Like Jo, I'm gonna go pretty easy this year and just do a main dish (the ham) and then load up on fresh veggies for the sides. I'm staying away from the casseroles that we all love, but don't love us back. Instead of the traditional yeast rolls, they will be getting wheat rolls.... and they better like it! Hey, I'm buying and cooking ~ they are just eating ;) Since it's the long weekend, and most folks are gonna be hitting the sales, I made a promise to myself to go to the gym. I'm thinking I'll be able to get in a good workout on my favorite pieces of equipment, and not have to worry about the gym being packed! Other than that, we might take in a movie, put up the Christmas tree, and just plain relax. We never seem to get enough of it these days. So, I hope y'all have a very happy Thanksgiving my friends! |
Good morning, everyone!
Congrats, Jo!! That's wonderful news and a great motivator. I'm impressed with everyone's delicious-sounding-yet-sensible meal plans for tomorrow. Alas, I do not yet have the willpower to forego all of my favorites dishes, BUT I plan to go to the gym Friday-Sunday. I won't kill myself, but I won't allow myself to slack, either. And as my friend says, if I'm going to eat what I know I shouldn't, at least I'll enjoy every bite, guilt-free, and get back on track the next day. That's my plan. Much strength and support to everyone, for a healthy, happy and safe holiday. -Julia |

Normally if my mother were doing all the cooking, I would have pretty much been surrounded by all my favorites ~ which I am sure that is how Christmas dinner will be since it's at her house. I'm gonna do my best not to throw my family into shock with too much... so I'm still gonna do the mashed potatoes, baked sweet potatoes or squash instead of the candied yams, steamed green beans instead of the green bean casserole, and make any other healthy modifications I can do without pushing them over the edge :) |
Happy thanksgiving everybody! We all have lots to be thankful for.
|
Gonna hit the gym in a bit.
Happy Thanksgiving y'all. |
Dinner tonight was a little bit of pork tenderloin sauteed with olive oil, onion and garlic....small serving of mashed potatoes (made with a tiny bit of the butter/olive oil combo and 1% milk)....and a huge pile of steamed asparagus. Delicious! :chef2:
