I saw this tonight:
It had a lot of gratuitous violence and stoner humor but I still liked it. You can't help but like the poor guy. |
I woke up wicked early today...like 4 or 5...and started watching Being Flynn...but I fell back to sleep...soo...Im gonna finish it later...what I saw seemed really good...
Oh and I watched part of Steel Magnolias today...because it was on TV.... |
Spare Parts 2015 George Lopez, Jamie Lee Curtis, Carlos PenaVega
Four Hispanic high school students form a robotics club. With no experience, 800 bucks, used car parts and a dream, this rag tag team goes up against the country's reigning robotics champion, MIT. This was a very good movie and if I'm not mistaken based on a true story:movieguy: |

I just watched "Fruitvale Station" I don't know why I didn't watch it earlier.
http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV..._SX214_AL_.jpg Until recently I lived in and around the area. It was strange to see all the familiar places in a film. I was there when the events happened and it only seems like yesterday. Weirdly homesick. :candle: |
Stories We Tell (Sarah Polley) Canadian
In Stories We Tell, Sarah Polley plays with the documentary format to explore the nature of memory and storytelling, crafting a thoughtful, compelling narrative that unfolds like a mystery. This was an interesting movie, however I'm still perplexed if this was her story OR just a story, otherwise check it out and see what you think:popcorn: |
Straight Outta Compton.
I loved this movie. The writing was excellent and the music fantastic. The GF does not really like rap and also really liked it. Very worth seeing. It was like a time capsule of the period. I wish the excesses of the police of the time were also a thing of the past but we know that is not true. It felt so shameful watching it, just as it does now. From Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 90%: In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war. -- (C) Universal Pictures http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/straight_outta_compton/ |
Mr. Holmes
Loved the slow pace, small details, and character development. It seems so counter to most movies today. |
Where Hope Grows
I enjoyed it, made me cry actually. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. |
I DVRd it.
Eh. I saw the ending come from a mile away but c'mon...it's 007. |
Daniel Craig put me in the mood, I guess.
I saw this movie today and it was AWESOME. My only twitchy thing is that they put things in the trailers that aren't in the movie. Now I wonder what the movie would have been like with those scenes in there. Oh well. At least it left the door open in case they want to pursue a franchise. |
I'll See You In My Dreams
With Blythe Danner, Martin Starr, Sam Elliot, Rhea Perlman, Mary Kay Place, June Squibb. Saw this a couple nights ago and enjoyed it. Images and lines from the film are still with me. The chemistry between Danner and Ellot was nice and believable. It's almost a quiet and thoughtful movie, but it was funny and sweet, too. It also moved at a nice pace. A bit of a spoiler follows.... Generally, I moan and groan about not liking happy Hollywood endings, but I was hoping for one in this movie. I didn't get it, but I still enjoyed it. |
This weekend I am going to watch
Jupiter Ascending: Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under signs that predicted future greatness, but her reality as a woman consists of cleaning other people's houses and endless bad breaks. Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered hunter, arrives on Earth to locate her, making Jupiter finally aware of the great destiny that awaits her: Jupiter's genetic signature marks her as the next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos. and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: As the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel has only a single remaining vacancy - posing a rooming predicament for two fresh arrivals - Sonny pursues his expansionist dream of opening a second hotel. |
I saw this earlier in the week:
I love a good action flick and this was pretty damn good. Plus I really adore Simon Pegg. |
The Minions! King Bob lol
|
Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine
Fascinating documentary that shows the man who had feet of clay. One interesting quote in the movie was that his products were beloved but the man, himself, was not. He was brilliant, a visionary, occasionally ruthless and cruel towards others. Knowing more about the man that he was, does not change my own love of my Apple products. This is a documentary worth watching. |
...........Deep Blue.............
|
I loved this as well. The actors were so good. Was surreal seeing Cube's son as him , that worked out perfectly. Also an important message about a number of issues were conveyed through this film as it was about so much more than just nostalgic gangsta rap.
Was a little bizarre seeing a guy my friends and I went to high school with as an actor in the opening scene. Quote:

I haven't seen this yet but have seen the trailor on yahoo. Its called The Daineish Girl staring Eddie Redmain, He plays a man who became s a trans woman. He is married in the show and she stays with him as well as assist him in transition.. There are lots of twist and turns in the movie. Not sure it will be shown in the states but If the short blurp I saw was this good the rest will be worth seeing...check out yahoo to find it.

Based purely on the action, it was fantastic. As a fan of the franchise, it's not the same without Jason Statham and I kept focusing on the new guy's teeth. He can fight and he's got a sexy voice but I really want to hold him down and put braces on his teeth. Plus his dad must be a shit spy to get kidnapped and ambushed as much as he does in this film. No wonder they only gave him 791 euros. |

Yesterday I saw this movie:
I liked it because I knew what I was getting into. It's an Adam Sandler film. It's fun and childish and is going to have good to great graphics. I was not disappointed. I even enjoyed myself quite a bit. This, on the other hand......this disappointed me. Actually, Samuel L. Jackson disappointed me. He's too good of an actor to be playing these shit roles and too much of a badass to be believable as a weak and clueless politician. I might be scarred for life. |
The Cobbler
Not the best movie I have ever seen but filled the time space I had before sleep. |
Boulevard
One of Robin Williams last films, sad how people live this way..I mean the role he played..there's restraint and then there's suppressed.Do you suppose this actor was like that?. |
The Best of Me
One of the best ones I've seen in a long time that was clearly reminiscent of The Notebook. |
Steve Jobs Man in the Machine:
I realize he was brilliant when it came to computers but on a human level, thinking not so much! |
Human ( I noticed this on the google search bar today.)
You can watch it right here or on youtube.com .
Disclaimer: I have not watched the entire movie but very intrigued. What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight ? That we laugh ? Cry ? Our curiosity ? The quest for discovery ? Driven by these questions, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Yann captures deeply personal and emotional accounts of topics that unite us all; struggles with poverty, war, homophobia, and the future of our planet mixed with moments of love and happiness. Watch the 3 volumes of the film and experience #WhatMakesUsHUMAN. The VOL.1 deals with the themes of love, women, work and poverty. |
I found this movie made me think of society and how the homeless travel the road they arrive at. I am always interested in issues that impact the society we live in. The homeless situation concerns me deeply.

Went to see this film yesterday in IMAX
Wow what a film, it keeps you gripped from start to finish. Its based on a true story. A must see film. Also saw the new Woody Allen Irrational Man. This was ok, but not the best Woody Allen film by a long shot. |

Good to hear that you felt it was a must-see! |
A favorite.
If you like movies about time travel, love and loss. Please check this out!
A man (Hugh Jackman) travels through time on a quest for immortality and to save the woman (Rachel Weisz) he loves. This movie is also absolutely stunning! A metaphysical, time traveling yet present romance. <3 |
Last night I watched S.W.A.T. on Netflix...I was in the mood for an action flick and it fit the bill...
|
Went to see A Walk In The Woods based on the Bill Bryson book of the same name. I was very disappointed, not only because of how it differed and failed to capture the experience of the book, but also because the directing seemed to falter in weaving the episodes and connection between the actors.
Ho-hum. |
I'm a sucker for all things Indie. And, this indie film brought it well. Also, |
Amy...but my date was a non stop talker. Major pet peeve

I also watched a version of Jane Eyre I hadnt seen...with Joan Plowright and William Hurt. Always a favorite. I TRIED to watch The Prince with Bruce Willis...yeah no |
Dracula the untold story! It was outstanding!

Some Kind of Beautiful Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba
A drama about a Cambridge poetry professor who begins to re-evaluate his life of Byronic excess. Complete waste of time IMHO:popcorn: |
