Water almost always does it for me. Something about the waves, the gentle salt air breeze, and just losing myself...and a dolphin....SCORE!!!
Music, writing are also very helpful. I rarely get down, but when I do, I can write and that is such a soul soother!!! |
Go fishing
Pray Look for solitude, spend a lot of time alone |
First I generally try to make certain that I am being truthful with myself about whatever it is that has me down in the dumps. After that, I'll write or talk it out with a close friend that I can talk to about most anything. If I am close to a good wooded trail, a river, or the ocean then I will walk and explore for hours.

When I'm feeling. down
I put on upbeat music and I come chat and play with friends.

Take the back roads home, have a concert in my car :)
|
Oh I usually lay there and take a nap ;)
|
I get lost in my camera. I'll go for a walk in the woods & forget everyone and everything that brought me down and just click it all away. And music. The songs that don't remind me of anyone or anything... the music that is just mine and mine alone. And a few pieces of Godiva chocolate just to be sure I'm back to good.

I shop. A new outfit always makes me feel like a new person. I sing. I tell myself to keep moving forward. My babies need me.
|
I try to make others smile, say hi to a random person in the airport, at the gas station, etc. When I make another person's day or cheer someone up is what pick's me up, motivating others. Rewarding myself with an awesome cup of coffee always does the trick or going out with friends.

I've been fighting the blues for a while lately ...
spend time with certain people I really enjoy and hearing their laughter has a healing touch..
I try to find some outside activity in a peaceful setting where I breathe fresh air and find "treasures" that make me smile ...from birds singing to tiny frogs to beautiful simple touches of mother nature .. I go through photos of special family members ...and favorite photos of my adventures in the past few years... I talk to my best friend from PA.. she's amazing! I go down memory lane of my times with Gramma D... I cuddle and play with the sweetest dog in the world .. I try hard not to focus on what's upsetting me so much... |
eat cake
