And so the preparations begin. We're ramping up inland, too. You guys don't keep your generators ready to go at all times? I feel for ya; at least I'm full-time Fire and we have sleeping quarters, but there's not going to be much rest for any of us for the next several days. Be safe out there, brother. Check in when you get a chance.

Happy first responding high fives your way! Good news. Everything secured, weather taped, sand bags filled and placed and all battery lights charged. And yeah, I don't fore see much sleep either. Thanks for all your department does! Thanks Clay for your concern! Catch Y'all later

Fine here on my end, just tired of the rumors and fear mongering on social media like facebook and twitter.

Stick to the local news websites folks.

Hoping everyone affected stays safe over there and that there are no casualties. Am really, really glad we don't get weather like that in the UK!

May deity watch over you all.

I'm awake cause I was feeling warm. The fan I had on wasn't. Leads me to believe the electricity went off. It's super F'n windy out there. I stepped out on the balcony and the lights went out. It was super dark.

They are back on.. And I hear tonando warning for the next 20 min. Just spotted near me.. And just called out my part of the city.

The lights are still on..I'm sitting on the bathtub now.

Good thing....cereal tastes good when you mix two different kinds 😃

Man does this bring back memories. Please stay in touch!

Yep it's a storm all right

I still have power and cable

Gutters are full but street is passable

I am in central Houston and our neighborhood is new construction- houses are built up higher than older neighborhoods

All I need is a little slack to walk my dog but she is not actually "doing the dance" yet

Update: we walked and got kind of wet. It might have been our only chance but some "people" were picky about their "spot" and now we have to try again later for #2

Oklahomagal 08-26-2017 08:35 AM

We have not got the affects from the storm here in oklahoma. Yesterday rained all day and streets flooded.

justkim 08-26-2017 08:48 AM

good morning! At least I hope it is a good morning. Thinking of all of you as Harvey continues to bring rain and wind to some of you. Be safe and be smart. Check in when you can.

VintageFemme 08-26-2017 09:51 AM

Friends have been texting and calling me since yesterday. I'm very far north and central in Texas so we're good. Harvey is pushing the envelope though and people as far north as Austin are feeling effects of the storm with tons of rain, but we're good up here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

Hello????...........

Bèsame* 08-26-2017 02:54 PM

I've been responding to everyone, I thought I had here ...

Made it thru the wild night, the tornado came eerily close, according to reports this morning. It's still windy and I haven't seen much rain. No fallen trees on my car, that's a plus!

The river that crested last year in town is expected to again. We moved further away from there! Reports say rain is coming.
