Another 2 cards in the mail today
That makes 15 so far....yay!!!
What a nice reason to go check my mail daily now

Tcountry 07-05-2011 08:19 PM

Another one today...
Thanks Morningstar...love Niagara Falls.
More porn for Sunshyne...lol She will be back the 11th.
Hope she is getting some awesome ones from San Antonio. We will send them out this weekend :)

Fancy 07-05-2011 08:37 PM

I like the idea of a scrapbook of sorts containing all the postcards received.

2 more came today, and 4 went out today...

Thanks everyone!

cara 07-05-2011 08:51 PM

I only check the mail once or twice a week since I'm never expecting anything other than bills. I was surprised to not only get my address list (thanks!!!), but 4 post cards, too! How cool is that? So, I guess I should start checking my mailbox more often now. :)

Thanks, everyone!

:stillheart:

scootebaby 07-05-2011 09:48 PM

we got 3 more cards today...well i should say i got one and Jo got 2...im STILL waiting on something from Iowa or wherever:lol2:

i chuckled when i saw scoote ONLY and Jo ONLY...then turned them over and they were the same kida card---which was very cool.

as soon as the ones from the bahamas arrive u all have to tell us bc im curious how long it takes for them to be delivered.

glad to see how well this is doing....KEEP'EM COMING!!!!

Nina 07-05-2011 10:06 PM

I finally was at the PO today, sending out 5 BFP related packages so I checked my PO box...and what fun!!...

I got some great cards from chancie...the first one had a heart on it, I've seen her drawing those hearts so I thought it was from her, and when I saw the neat 3-D robots on the others, I knew it was from that sweet math-teacher and robot maker teacher all rolled into one...thanks :)

a vintage card from pam was interesting and neat to look at...

alwaystolate sent a really neat card which reminds me of years of fall in the east coast, though I didn't see many (read any) bears :)

wolfy sent a card with a sweet little poem and reminded me, again, about how special this site is to many of us...

oneplayfulfemme sent a card with a wonderful bridge...funny how bridges can identify a place, we have so many iconic bridges here in SF, but not the same kind that evoke the kind of peacefulness which this one makes me feel

and speaking of iconic, gail sent me a perfect image of NYC...statue of liberty standing tall...

socialjustice sent a perfect summer card...a B & W photo of a group of children sitting on the steps of what look like an old big city apartment house, each one enjoying an ice cream cone...

there were two great cards from the erie PA contingent...both of which made me smile since they mentioned my favorite couple, dave and cody, and how they now are getting into the cookey duo...and, they were involved in me getting the other 8 cards...

and those, are from my sweetie who had a plan, enlisted corkey and ami and sent them all the way across the country so they could send them to my PO box and I'd have a true surprise...which I did indeed, get!

I sent out a bunch more post cards today with the packages, and have ready to send out an additional 5 more tomorrow...I can see that another sheet of post card stamps are in my near future...

thanks to you all

cheers

nina

Is this going to be an ongoing thing? I would love to do it but am moving out of the area in 1.5 weeks and probably won't be ready to send any out for a few weeks after that. Sounds like a ton o' fun!

We mailed our Bahamas cards from the hotel too (since we were clueless about where a post office was and had no personal transportation)....I wonder if they might sit a little while at the hotel before someone remembers to give them to the mail carrier...

Ehhhh....hotel staff is a crapshoot. Having worked in hospitality for years, I hate to admit it, but there are some really doozies out there and I've known folks who would have tossed them. Hopefully, ya'lls stuff just got delayed by a day or two.

We had a mail drop slot at my hotel that was locked, so the guests knew that their mail wouldn't be messed with.

Cards going out this weekend!

LaneyDoll 07-08-2011 09:06 AM

I have had such a great time with this! My kids love seeing all the postcards in the mail and think that the "postcard game" I am playing with my friends is pretty fun. Since I have not ventured anywhere lately, all of mine were purchased locally, of things/places I am fond of. If you have not gotten one from me yet-you will soon :)

And, honestly, I am probably going to send out another batch in a few weeks.

Post Card hunting today!! Sending the next batch on Monday! Yay!!

Can those that have purchased postcards at stores, please tell me where you got them?

Being in OK, I had a hard time locating a store, so I went to a tourist info center a few miles from where I live.

It isn't actually that easy Wolfy...I had to really think... Truck stops, large gas stations, "Made in Michigan" Store, sometimes "quaint" small town stores around me have them like the local Ice Cream Parlor, drugstore or local historical society building. One of our Dollar stores carries them and our local travel agency and nature center too.

I live in a really small town area though. So, I am sure others may have better suggestions for you.

Good Luck!

These are all good options, Wolfy. I got mine at the Chamber of Commerce. They had some displayed at my work bank and I asked about them because I thought they were nifty. Someone also mentioned to me that I could get them online.

amiyesiam 07-08-2011 06:21 PM

we got a card from morningstar , it had a recipe on it!

and 2 from Nina (one each)
mine did not have a crustacean on it

i've found some really cool postcards at bookstores. yes, the huge conglomerate ones. barnes and noble usually has a decent selection. they may not necessarily be "about" the area you're in, but i've gotten some cool marilyn monroe, david bowie, and just rockin' photo postcards. also, while you're at the bookstore, look around in the travel area. lots of stores carry postcard "books", some specific to your state.

scootebaby 07-08-2011 08:40 PM

i came home and found a postcard from the Alamo! :cheer:

now i am only 1 behind Jo WOOT! WOOT!

Which, I grant you, is very cool....but not quite as cool as the one little man sent me. *smug grin*

Rivkeh 07-09-2011 06:18 AM

I would love to join this, am I too late? I collect cards and postcards too. I'll pm JustJo. Also, there is a website called PostSecrets which is good, it's kind of an appropriated postcard thing, just in case anyone is interested in taking a look.

Nina 07-09-2011 06:42 AM

it is possible the theme of my cards to corkey is: Food in the unexpected...dunno why it turned out that way, still...it. is. art. ...I try and send something with a clearer comment to ami...not sure that made sense, but I (kind of) know what it means...and hope she does as well...

I am worried that jo and scooty didn't get their cards...I find, with them, I am looking for and sending cards which I hope will make scooty laugh, and which I hope speak (somewhat) to Jo's heart...

thus far all the cards I've sent are ones which I have had in my collection...I may have to start venturing out for more since, while I have over 1,000 post cards, they are not leaving the house...I do have a good number I can send out left, still if I feel my to-do and/or worry-list starts to get light, I am glad to have one. more. thing. to add to it...

yeah, I'm just nuts...what more can I say (insert self-deprecating question mark, or bold point period, here)

happy weekend and all :)

And we'd love to have you...especially seeing as you're in Australia. :cheesy: Just make a note that I love wallabies, k?

I found mine at a small grocery store near my office. I live in a small town and was not having an easy time finding any then I remembered having seen some there. I honestly I thought I may have to venture to the airport-lol.

Big change from being in Florida in May. You could close your eyes, swing a bat and knock over a dozen postcard racks, regardless of where you were ;)

Fancy 07-09-2011 11:18 AM

Picked up some while traveling this week. I may be able to get through the rest of the list. I like the idea of doing themes...maybe that will be the next batch I send around by end of summer. :)

I've lost count of how many I've received. I'll be starting the scrap book this weekend.

Dutch Leonard 07-10-2011 10:45 AM

Please be advised- postcard postage to Canada and Mexico is 80 cents. All other countries is 98 cents.

This week I received cards from LaneyDoll, little man, Fancy and amiyesiam & Corkey.

little_ms_sunshyne 07-10-2011 07:28 PM

Alright Postcard Lovers...T & I sent out 25 cards today. I do not believe we missed anyone and hit someone up twice :) (Scoote if you don't get them this time, I hate to break it to you but your postman hates you) This time we also made sure that everyone received a different one. Not all are San Antonio related, some we thought were just fun!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday and made it a lazy one :) We sure did!!!

Can't wait to get home and check our mailbox!!!

wimsiclegirl 07-10-2011 08:11 PM

Postcards bought in LA this weekend....sending them out tomorrow....YAY!!

Love this game...

ok....wallabies, sure thing :)

JustJo 07-11-2011 07:32 AM

Love this! :)

Scoote got her own card from little man....and then, yesterday when we got home from our overnight "take Rooster to the airport then go have adults only day at Disney" trip last night, we had more!

Two from Nina....mine was lovely (hugs) and Scoote's made me laugh...and then a beautiful one from "Diva's Road Trip" :cheesy:

This is so much more fun than bills in the mailbox!

Still crossing my fingers that you all get your Bahamas cards....the official Bahamas website said postcards can take 2 weeks...so we haven't given up hope yet.

Got Rivkeh's address, so I'll PM it out to all of you later today, and get a hardcopy of the full list in the mail to Rivkeh :)

justkim 07-11-2011 08:10 AM

I would like to play... if it isn't too late that is...

Tcountry 07-11-2011 08:35 AM

Never too late to join....
Sunshyne & I still have a trip to Mount Rushmore planned for nxt weekend.
We are loving sending them about as much as receiving them.

We get back home in a few hrs....can't wait check mail :)

Fancy 07-11-2011 08:45 AM

It's odd the places you find postcards...
I went out to a movie Saturday evening, and there were these cards on the counter about the movie. I remarked to my companion that they would make good postcards. I flipped the card over, and sure enough, it WAS a postcard. So, I stuffed several in my purse...here comes another batch!
:)
