Miss Meadows Katie Holmes, Jean Smart, James Badge Dale,

A story centered on a proper elementary school teacher who moonlights as a vigilante.

This was a quirky little movie. Although I enjoyed, I'm still somewhat baffled by the ending

Gemme 09-20-2015 06:56 PM

I saw most of this movie tonight.

If anyone else has seen the full ending, please rep or pm me as to who did 'it'. If you've seen the movie, you know what 'it' is.

The disc cut out on me at. the. very. end.

We saw Everest today in 3D IMAX.

It had really believable mountain-climbing sequences, particularly the shots that made you feel like you were looking over the edge of the mountain.

I had read Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer, several years ago.

Everest is not his perspective. It is more from Rob Hall's; with Krakauer as an incidental character.

The movie is worth seeing.

Single Moms Club. It was endearing to say the least. But, I think it could of been better.

randrum 09-26-2015 11:26 AM

I watched this on Netflix last night

cinnamongrrl 09-30-2015 05:42 AM

I started watching Reservation Road last night but fell asleep about 30 minutes before the end...

What I saw was excellent...

I really liked this movie! I laughed at times and it gave me a tear at times.

We saw it in 3D.

The Martian.

Starring Matt Damon.

betruetoyoursoul 10-05-2015 09:15 PM

A movie based on true events. The disturbing events that took place based on racism may make one question their thoughts and open up dialogue that still unfortunately continues today. Us vs Them imho is dangerous. I am passionate about social issues as well as liking non-fiction. I would warn others that this movie can be very distressing to watch while promoting awareness.

C0LLETTE 10-05-2015 09:53 PM

Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol.

Love him or hate him, Tom Cruise sure can pack in those great special effects.

Liam 10-06-2015 06:57 AM

The Martian; Ridley Scott delivers and this film is destined to be a science fiction classic.

Gemme 10-06-2015 07:22 PM

I also saw The Martian tonight as well as The Intern. Both were fantastic. De Niro and Damon were excellent.

kittygrrl 10-06-2015 11:18 PM

Saw "The Martian" (w/Sis). Great movie and the popcorn was awesome!

GeorgiaMa'am 10-10-2015 02:04 PM

Pan - not worth it

Saw "Pan" in 3D. It had lots of exciting visuals, they utilized the 3D pretty well, and the costumes were great. I really liked the character Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara). Sadly, they spent almost no time telling the actual story. It was very thin on plot, and kind of boring, really. Most of the story is told in the trailer. The movie was mostly action sequences and scenes where you felt like you were on an amusement park ride. This is _not_ a Disney film, BTW, it is Warner Brothers. That Disney-type of magical wonder was lacking in all but a few brief places.

cinnamongrrl 10-10-2015 02:38 PM

I watched We Were Soldiers the other night on Netflix....

What an awesome movie...

Gemme 10-10-2015 06:29 PM

I saw these movies earlier in the week.

It was adorable and fluffy; just the way I like my animated films.

I was disappointed. I haven't read the books so I wasn't expecting what happened near the end of this movie that I did not like. The movie was great in visuals and getting the blood pumping and heart rate going but I was NOT happy with the ending. I hope the next movie makes me happier.

*Anya* 10-10-2015 09:58 PM

We saw Freeheld.

I always try to support lesbian movies (since there are so few of them).

The couple on whose lives it was based did have a large age difference between them but it was so disconcerting to me to see oh-so-young looking Ellen Page with Julianne Moore. It made it more difficult to get lost in the story for both of us.

Gemme 10-11-2015 08:36 AM

I'm watching this movie right now.

I'm about 20 minutes or so in and there's no Jennifer Lopez yet but I do enjoy watching Jason Statham in action. I'm a sucker for a criminal with scruples.

*Anya* 10-11-2015 09:52 AM

Cartel Land.

Unbelievable but true documentary about two vigilantes fighting the drug cartels on both sides of the Mexican and American borders.

It was gut-wrenching but also opened my eyes in a new way to the experience of the people that live it every day.

Truly great documentary.

The New York Times reviewer called it "urgent and unnerving".

That it is.

homoe 10-13-2015 04:42 PM

Focus~~ Will Smith Margot Robbie

It isn't the normal type of movie I prefer, but it did have one or two good scenes (like at the Super Bowl game)If you enjoy Will Smith check this one out:popcorn:

*Anya* 10-13-2015 04:54 PM

93% on tomato meter and I agree completely. Cartel Land had piqued my interest in seeing it and the reviews were great.

An extremely suspenseful movie. All performances terrific. Not an easy one to watch.

IMDb:

Sicario (2015)

An idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by an elected government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico.

Director: Denis Villeneuve
Writer: Taylor Sheridan
Stars: Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, Benecio Del Toro

Movies from Fat Kid Night

My sister and I hung out this weekend and these were our picks:

Fancy 10-16-2015 06:06 AM

Saw a few shows at the local ImageOut film festival, but this one stuck in my mind the most....

Two 4 One

It was well done, dignified, lovable, and funny. I'd see it again if I could. What impressed me as well was meeting the writer/director after the show for Q & A. A lot of thought went into this movie.

Orema 10-16-2015 07:36 AM

Loved this

Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives

I was able to stream this last night and am so glad I did. I really like this movie and look forward to seeing it again. The dramatizations were intentionally campy and over the top, but the real-life stories of these Canadian lesbians were touching, heartbreaking, and sweet to me. And, there were some handsome old-school butches in it. :)

Thanks to homeo and QueenOfSmirks for mentioning this film in the "Randrum Should See These Movies" thread.

Talon 10-16-2015 10:24 AM

I watched a true and powerful film on HBO called 'A Normal Heart'.

It's about the AIDS crisis in NYC in the 80's...definitely NOT lighthearted,
but very good.

You'd never know it from the lousy clip I posted earlier. This one is better...

The Walk

Went to see this movie last weekend in imax 3D cinema.
Its about a french man who wants to tight rope walk from one of the twin towers to the other side without any safety wire.
Such a great film.
And even if you don't go and see it at an imax cinema, its a must see film.
Its not a widely played film, but make the effort and you won't be disappointed.
Thrilling but very human to.

deathbypoem 10-17-2015 10:54 AM

In Lieu Of Flowers.

Amazon Prime.

Yus.

Awesome little indie flick.

*Anya* 10-17-2015 06:06 PM

Have to admit I did have a couple of beads of sweat pop out on my forehead when Channing Tatum danced at Jada Pinket Smith's club Domina on Magic Mike XXL.

Oh, ok, one little shriek escaped my lips.

The movie is not Shakespeare but it did have its moments...

...damn Andie McDowell is still looking awfully hot and so is Jada.

The GF just shook her head at me.

deathbypoem 10-19-2015 10:56 AM

When you get caught up. Literally.

This documentary is... too far too touch, but close enough to feel.

Great!

bright_arrow 10-19-2015 02:07 PM

Curse of Chucky. The night prior was Fast and Furious 7

jools66 10-19-2015 11:32 PM

Suffragette

Great film.
Just makes you realize how much we take for granted now.

Gemme 10-20-2015 08:44 AM

I saw Goosebumps. Because I wanted to and I adore Jack Black.

It was fun and true to Goosebumps. There was a mild twist in the middle and a bigger twist at the end.

Liam 10-20-2015 05:45 PM

I caught the early bird show of Bridge of Spies, and loved it. Steven Spielberg ran me through the gamut of emotions, and even made my eyes leak. I have always been a fan of Tom Hanks, and I think he just gets better, each time I see him. The best part though, was a movie for under $7.00!

randrum 10-20-2015 05:57 PM

Sunday night I watched this:

And I loved it!

Today after work ABC Family had a couple of good Halloween movies on for the 13 Days of Halloween:

Steve Jobs (2015)

Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter.

Director: Danny Boyle
Writers: Aaron Sorkin (screenplay), Walter Isaacson (book)
Stars: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2080374/

Danny Boyle's movies are always great. Michael Fassbender did an outstanding job portraying Jobs. Kate Winslet is fantastic in any role.

Steve Jobs, the man himself? Two words: tortured genius.

Talon 10-27-2015 12:30 PM

On Netflix......pretty brutal....just a warning.

jools66 10-27-2015 02:43 PM

Far From Heaven

Watched this film at the weekend.
Watched it mainly because Todd Haynes directed it.
Heard it was beautifully shot, and wasn't disappointed.
Julieanne moore is brilliant.
Would say this film is great film to watch, but don't watch it if you arte feeling a bit down.
Its not a feel good movie.
