:chef2: Good evening everyone,

We just all pigged out on filet mignon and baked potatoes...yummy. It was so tender that Scoote was cutting hers with the side of a fork. :giggle:

Now we all have big bellies....including the kittens. :)

Jake, sorry to hear that you're sick too...hope you start feeling better. :rrose:

Chocolate cake, mmmmmm......

Good Evening Zimmy,

OOOOooooOOOOh.. I love crossword puzzles. My Gram tried to pass along the knitting, crocheting, sewing thing to My sister and I. ummmmm.. let us just say .. it did not pass along well. laughs. Actually My sister can sew with a machine and by hand. I can sew by hand.. no machine for Me. My Mom can do the whole thing.. same as My gram.

I paint with acrylics and the brand I use are Windsor & Newton.. the same brand I use for watercolors as well. However, I am sure Michael's sells a good brand.. and probably not as pricey as what Mine run.

Thank you for the Aleve tip.. I have a feeling it is a hunger headache.. if I wait to long to eat I get them.. and they are the worst to get rid of.

Weekend was.. ok.. nothing phenomenal. laughs.

Hugs you back

I hope you have a peaceful evening.

Jake

Good Evening Jake,

I got into doing crossowrd puzzles because of my grandmother and I enjoy it. My oldest niece got the craft gene from my mom and when her and her brother were down for the summer, she made me a butterfly and a "I love you" plaque out of crayola clay. I now have to find some good quality acrylic paint to paint them with. Try taking some Aleve and see if that helps with your headache and I am sorry that you don't feel good.

How was your weekend?

Hugs and have a good night,

Zimmy

scoote.. I am glad you are starting to feel better. Well I am sure the hood vent being down and you breathing all that nasty stuff in.. did not help your head at all.. let alone your lungs. .. even with the ventilation of having the doors open. The headaches just stink because they just knock the energy right out of you.

laughs @ the innocent look.. and chocolate cake sounds goooooood. However, I am thinking I might do some french pressed goodness..

Hola Jake,

When I flew to Chicago and Seattle, I would put my iPod on play and start doing crossword search and finds. Music is my life and I have to listen to it all of the time. My mom loves to cross stitch, which I can do, and she loves to crochet baby afghans for everyone. Maybe one day, I will sit down and take that up as a hobby, but for now, I have way to much energy and I love to be on the go.

I will definately check out Michaels and see what kind of paints they have and see if they have just a glaze type. In my opinion, Aleve works better than prescribed painkillers. When I had to have the needle removed from my foot, the dr gave me Darvocets, which did nothing for me, but the Aleve took the pain and swelling away.

Have a good night, I am going to watch another episode of Bones before I go to bed...I love that show...It's a mixture of science and medicine.

Zimmy

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you all slept well and are enjoying the start of your day!

I am thinking of a delicious fruit salad with eggs, toast, juice, milk, coffee and tea for breakfast this morning. True brain food I must say.

Tomorrow is my microbiology lab final which I am kinda nervous about. I have a 97 in this class and I don't want to ruin my A. As for my micro lecture class, I gave up on the professor and I am going to be emailing her boss this afternoon and start to contest my grade. The witch gave me another F on the paper that was due yesterday. No matter how much information you put into these case studies, she just fails you. I am done with her as a professor.

Have fun today, and I have to stop by and see my niece's mother on the way home. She was standing in a tire store on Sunday, when a drunk woman lost control of her car and hit the building and knocking a tire display on top of her.

morningstar55 11-30-2010 07:06 AM

lol Jake...... my grandmom and mom and sister could all sew me under a table.. im lucky i can sew a button on. lol
and like you...... i know i can draw and paint them under a table.. lol

I use acrylics too.... and use them mostly when i face paint.. yep face paint.. lol .... and use that on cloths, wood, rocks...
i love the water color pencils and have 2 sets ... it makes it less mess in the truck.. lol i carry some of my art supplies with me.
i like using the chalky pastels too.... dont like the oil ones much
i go to micheals sometime.... or AC moore..... but my favorite is a real art supply.... here in buffalo we have Hyatts..... there is a store in nashville i like to go too.. when i get loads there i can park the truck in there lot... and its near the interstate. easy on easy off... :)

here is there web site....
http://www.jerrysartarama.com/

next yr is the going to be the yr of change for me....... i have too.
I cant take it anymore wasting my days away , waiting for loads in truck stop/wal mart parking lots , when i could be home doing something more constructive.. plus its effecting my health.
im making it a goal to come out of the truck in the spring .. april/may .. cuz its when festival /carnival season kicks in and even with a local job, it will help with some extra income...
im looking forward to hopfully booking into a couple art festivals and have some of my art.. other then face painting to sell..... and jake.. if you care to join me and maybe split a space.... would love it..
face painting.... ill give u an average income for a good 2 day spot... around 300 to 400 bucks. thats the carnival spots... i have good connections for some of these places too.
anyways....... this is turning into a book.. lol ....

Good luck on your test!!! And I hope your neice's mother is ok. What a terrible thing to have happened to her!

Morning Star, good for you making a change like that. I know it must not have come easy at all. But you do know your own body and what it can take or not take. I wish you all the success in the world. And as I stated in my PM to you I would love to be included at some of the festivals as well in the Spring. Lots of fun and perhaps some sales too.

I love watercolor pencils too. Derwent wc and Derwent Inktense are awesome. I bought them at Hobby Lobby on line. Thanks for the link. I have heard of them but never visited their site. Going there now!!!

I hope everyone has a terrific day!!!

JakeTulane 11-30-2010 08:06 AM

Good Morning lovely Kitchen patrons,

Here is a link to where I have purchased My art supplies in the past. They have an awesome selection of everything and run some great sales. I am also pretty picky about what I purchase (same goes for purchasing My supplies for making jewelry) and have a hard time buying online because of it .. mainly because I want to "see" what I am getting. More than likely not so much with the art supply stuff as with the jewelry making supplies.

http://www.aswexpress.com/

Let Me know what you think.

One can buy from Hobby Lobby on line! If we have a debit or a credit card it is so easy....I hope you get a good night's rest very soon!!!

Morning Star, Prismacolor colored pencils are awesome. Goes on the paper like warm butter! I also like some of the art supplies at Blick.com. Are any of you artists members of wetcanvas.com? An awesome site with almost a million members world wide. Some of the artists there are so helpful to newbies to the arts. There is a reference image library that is free and has tons of images from all over the world as well.

Have a great day ya'll!!!

I love Hobby Lobby and miss it terribly there are none in the state of NJ wonder if there are some in Florida?? I think Orlando has one. I didn't know you could order online too. Yes I need a good night's sleep for sure. Hopefully tonight will be better than last night. Suppose to rain though that could be a problem with the noise I'm a very picky sleeper and with sleep apnea its worse!!

Hello everyone :)

It's been a busy day...conference calls, agendas to write, minutes to update and wrestling with a spreadsheet.

Time for iced coffee (or hot for those in colder climates) and a nice hot apple turnover! :eating:

Thank you!! At first, when they took her to the hospital, they thought she had crushed vertebrae, and they had to cut the glass from the glass window out of her. I haven't been able to get ahold of her today, so I will see if my mom has heard anything. I feel bad for the girl, she stopped off at the tire store on her way to my mom's house to pick up my niece. When she didn't show up, my mom called her and that is how we found out. Hopefully she will be able to go to her daughter's dance squad show in the Christmas parade this coming Saturday..

Have a good night and how are you feeling?

How are you feeling today? When I was in high school in PA, the art teacher had us do three point drawings of a city. To this day, I can still do it and I love doing it.

I am thinking once this semester is over, I might just do a three point drawing.

Have a good night,

katsarecool 11-30-2010 08:07 PM

Well I hope she will be ok!!!

Doing ok. Now. Earlier (around 5ish) we had some hellacious weather pass over my county here in Georgia. Three bad thunder storms (two with rotations on Doppler radar) converged south of the small town where I live. A few houses were destroyed not too far away. No injuries thankfully. For 45 minutes while all this was going on all my joints and most muscles were on fire. Low barometric pressure can affect injured body parts and I sure felt it. So in the middle of all the storms I took a pain pill, turned on the electric blanket, covered my head and went to sleep. Probably not a wise thing to do. LOL

Hope everyone is doing well!!!! and please I could use a cuppa hot chocolate now... with marshmellows please....

One massive cup of Godiva hot cocoa with marshmallows. Glad to read that no one was hurt during this storm. They had an earthquake off of the coast of Eastern Long Island sometime today.

Have a good night,

Sounds like an eventful day, and not all in a good way! Glad to hear that you're okay kats...and hope everything goes well for you tomorrow with your exam Zimmy...

You should all know that Scoote was ad-libbing (a tiny bit) in her post...I did go to cuddle and not to wake her up. The rest, however, was true :giggle:

You're all so artistic and crafty and stuff...I'm impressed! I can knit and crochet, but only a little...and I can sew on buttons and hem if I must...and couldn't paint or draw to save my life. I can cook and bake, and that's about it! :)

Not only did my Sweetie take me out to breakfast, but to dinner as well....and I'm stuffed with the best Reuben I've had in ages. Yummy! :eating:

Time to go tuck the Rooster in....back later. :gimmehug:

...and :kissy: to you baby....I love you :love1:

scootebaby 11-30-2010 08:27 PM

i can pay someone to do all those things....or if im feeling cheap just "negotiate"with Jo

Good Morning Zimmy, (yes here I am at 1:40am with insomnia)

I am feeling better.. the headache seems to have finally left.. I ended up getting some Aleve and using that.. it worked better than the high dose of Ibuprophen.. who knew? laughs.. well obviously you did..

I loved Art class in school and college. I have always been an appreciator of the Arts.. and could walk through galleries upon galleries.. in fact I took a vacation once and that was all I did.. was visit any Art gallery or museum that I could find..

you should do a three point drawing.. then take pics we can see it.. grins.. see Me and My ideas.. always finding work for you.. just like the wrangler for the Christmas Cards.. laughs..

I hope you had a peaceful night.

As Always,
Jake

Hi Jake: Glad that your headache is better!!!! A drawing experiment that I want to take part in is to do a portrait of someone with the reference photo upside down! It is said that doing it this way will make the portrait more lifelike and accurate. The reasoning is that if we are doing something familar we often do not see the entire picture, which makes sense. Rather like walking the same way to work or the store. The first time, one sees many things. But over time, we miss a lot. Anyone else want to try it?

Hi kats,

Thank you for the kind words.

The experiment you speak of sounds interesting. I was sitting here trying to think if I had ever tried that before.. even with basic sketching, and I have not. I am also surprised given I have taken Art in school and college none of My professors and/or teachers ever had us try this method. It totally makes sense.. given the reasoning you shared. Anything done over and over.. we are bound to miss something, indeed. For one because we never see the true "big picture". That is why when I sketch, paint, etc.. I always stand back a million times and try to see it in "full view". I also go through ALOT of paper. laughs. I hate to think how much of that I have thrown away over the years.. just because 'one' thing was off. It is also the reason it takes Me forever to finish a project..

I think I could give it a shot.. so are we talking..just a basic sketch of something simple to start out with?

ALSO.. this is NOT in any way getting Zimmy out of doing the 3-point drawing.. if she decides to participate. laughs.

The experiment spoke of just portraits. I imagine it could pertain to anything. Often when doing watercolor paintings I have my easel board upside down to get the values to sink into the underside of an object; have that color run deep the closer it is to the underside of the object. Isn't it fun to talk about art and techniques? Have a great night and I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight!

Sounds like Scoote's getting ornery in old age :sunglass:

Good Morning Jake,

I will see what I can do about the drawing. Speaking of the Christmas Card list, I am sending it out in a few minutes.

Have a wonderful day,

Zimmy

As Always,
Jake

I think Scoote was born ornery :sunglass:

Hope everyone's having a good day...I took the dog to the groomer (Scoote has been calling him "ass breath" again....so he needed it), lubricated the garage door (which has been sticking halfway up and being generally annoying), went grocery shopping, and am slow cooking brisket for dinner....OH...and I worked too :)
