and she had some kind of nubby fake panties imbedded on her torso. As I walked, I wondered if everyone got a one -legged Barbie. I wondered how I could make a prosthetic for her, or maybe make a Roundabout wheelchair with racing stripes, or some neat crutches.

Arriving at the car, I dug into the package and found some little pink things like shoes, and ...oh,...I found her leg. :police:

She's sitting here all pretty and I hate to mess with her...

amputee.........the ideas are flying nowwwwwwwww

My "barbie" is done!! This has to be the coolest altered art I have ever done. I have over 100 barbies with the intent of doing this.......so the project was very cool to be able to do!Hope who ever gets "it" loves it as much as I loved doing it!!

nycfem 01-12-2012 09:12 PM

Tell more about having over 100 Barbies. That's kinda exciting!

I have a mix of Bratz and Barbies that I collect, maybe about 30. Bratz are my all-time fave. I don't radically alter, more like make them more alternative or dress them different. I love playing with my dolls!

I played with my dad's extra appliance parts forever! using them like legos and lincoln logs to build castles and things.....later on a family friend bought me a barbie suitcase that came with 6 of them and clothes and a dorm room....lets just say ken was the servant to them and they had sex with eachother....they were also a nudist colony....soon after my baby brother told me I wasn't doing it right and took them for his entertainment.....

nycfem 01-14-2012 09:32 AM

There's something to be said for Barbie just as she is. I'm not making any grand changes in mine, just some little things. I'm using her as an inspiration for a writing piece which will be, along with her, my finished project :)

I have one Barbie so far -thanks, LWF! The rest of us, including me!, need to get cracking! The end of January is right around the corner :)

nycfem 01-26-2012 09:29 PM

This is a great weekend for us all to get cracking on our Barbies! Leftwritefemme's Barbie is enjoying the spotlight on my mantle but she's also starting to get lonely :)

Turtle 01-26-2012 09:41 PM

Would you believe that I do not have ANY Barbies!?

I wrote a paper on Barbie once though...it was not a favorable review.

I managed to say my goodbyes and mail her out yesterday.

But, I forgot the $$ ... :seeingstars: ... so that will go out to you tomorrow. It seems like this might be the first time I've met the deadline in quite awhile. Maybe I've turned over a new leaf for 2012?!?

LadyRain 01-31-2012 05:14 PM

Gemme 01-31-2012 09:55 PM

No worries :)

Good. You'll make up for me being behind.

Sorry, Jennifer. I'll get her out very soon!!!

nycfem 02-04-2012 09:50 AM

I received the Barbies from Purepisces and from Tommi. They both are amazing and thus far all three that I have received have chosen a completely different theme! It's so cool! And now Leftwritefemme's Barbie has some interesting characters to sit with on the mantle!

nycfem 02-06-2012 08:04 PM

Tommi and Purepisces, your $$$ arrived :)

Thanx!

nycfem 02-06-2012 08:05 PM

Waiting on Barbies from Wryly, Rain, and Gemme. Oh, and myself :D

princessbelle 02-06-2012 08:16 PM

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh i can't believe i've been missing this thread!!!!!! I guess cause it says crafts and i assumed people were in here that could like make stained glass out of flour and aluminum foil and it was being showcased on NBC and sold for thousands or something.

I love to do things. I'm just not artsy talented but i still enjoy doing!!!!

I'm so sorry i missed the barbie swap...dang-it!!!!

I'll keep up with this thread and look forward to the next shindig, and give it a go, if that's ok.

Great thread and the peeps in here are wonderous!!!!!!

That's the spirit, Belle.

I look forward to being creative with you.

Jennifer, I was close to being done and I ran into a problem with my Barbie. I'm trying to fix it. If I can't, I'll buy another Barbie and make her pretty real quick like.

nycfem 02-07-2012 03:11 PM

Gemme, I have a few extra and am happy to send you another one if you need it. Just let me know :)

If you don't mind and it wouldn't put the project toooooo far behind, please do. I'll enclose extra moolah for both mailings. I got a little creative and went beyond my skill level.

Barbie's in the burn unit now.

LeftWriteFemme 02-07-2012 04:26 PM

So Jennifer, will you be giving us a full description of the Barbie photo shoot? My opinion that might be as creative as the Barbies themselves!

nycfem 02-07-2012 04:42 PM

LOL, no probs. I'll mail her after work tomorrow :)

Well friends, StumbleUpon sent me a link to a timely group of images for those of us decorating dolls and Jennifer suggested that I share it with all of you, so here it is! Hope you love it!!!

I'm loving how the 4 Barbies so far are completely different, as in no one has chosen the same concept at all! Wonder if that shall continue! I will miss this amazing group when they leave to their permanent owners :)

Princessbelle, there will definitely be pics. I'm so excited that you joined this thread :)

Gemme, I just Priority mailed you a Barbie yesterday (Friday evening), so, anyway, don't freak out with time because I'm waiting for 3 other people's Barbie's, so no worries :)

Anxiously awaiting the doll show.

nycfem 02-11-2012 01:06 PM

For those who might be passionately curious ;), when I get all the Barbies I'm going to take a group photo but won't post it until I send out all the Barbies and they've been received. Also, to be clear, you will receive one Barbie, and you don't get to choose from who, and just because you got one Barbie from someone, doesn't mean that that person got your Barbie. It's madness I tell you :)

nycfem 02-11-2012 01:07 PM

Oh, and to be clear - you will know which person made the Barbie you receive! I mean, after all, you may want to thank that person :)

Tommi 02-11-2012 01:16 PM

:moonstars:
Are we almost there?
When ...are the other's in the mail? Will they be soon?
cept for Gemme, and she'll get hers done and ....

and are we almost there?

nycfem 02-11-2012 07:04 PM

It would be nifty if Rain and Wryly would poke their head in here and just share where y'all are in the process :)

Or if anyone wants to write to them and report back here on the thread, that's cool too. (I'm too lazy :D)
