I saw this today.
It's a true story and is absolutely phenomenal and another heartbreaking example of our government and military letting down our troops and operatives. Those men didn't have to die and be injured the way they were. |
This could be a puzzle to figure out which ones you did see*S lol...

The last Jurasic Park movie. Saw it last Summer when my sister and her kids came down for a weekend visit. I like going to the movies but my spouse is in a wheelchair and we have to sit up close and she says it hurts her neck.

I liked it. Cate Blanchette was good as usual. Redford was good, too—better than I thought he would be. There's a stiffness to Dan Rather that Redford captured well. I think this was made by a first-time director and it felt like it. Kind of felt like a made-for-tv movie. Still, I enjoyed it because of the story. It was nice to see Stacy Keach—always a good actor. |
Carol and for me, I found it very moving on different levels. I am also in awe of Cate Blanchette's regalness, acting ability and beauty.

Stacy Keach has a sexy voice. I imagine now that Edward Hermann has passed he will be getting even more work...
I bought the movie Wild last night. Its one of the only movies I've seen in the theater the last year. I was particularly excited to watch the extras. And im so glad I did. The little girl who plays Cheryl as a child is actually Cheryl's daughter, Bobbi, named after her mother. The woman who drops her off to start her hike is the author herself. The family at the end that passes and waves to her is the author, her husband and their 2 children. I just loved these little touches.... :) The book was still better. They don't even mention how she got her Bob Marley T-shirt and they don't mention a guy she met along the way that I swear was her soul mate...you just have to read it and see for yourself lol |

I saw Carol last night. It was very beautifully filmed, and the acting was first class. Rooney Mara was completely convincing as a young lesbian developing her first love in the 1950s. The movie does an exceptional job of depicting the subtleties of two lesbian lives in a repressive era.
Visually, this film was gorgeous. The 1950s details, from everyday objects such as cars and furniture, and the costumes, makeup and hair, to places such as roadside motels and The Drake hotel in Chicago were fun to watch for someone like me (I'm a lover of mid-century everything). Therese works in a toy department, and one of the first things that hit me was seeing my old tin doll house. Every scene was like a delicious flashback into my childhood. I was engulfed in this film, as the setting drew me into the parts of the story I was less familiar with, such as a 1950s butch and femme flirting in a NYC record store. I heard screenwriter Phyllis Nagy on NPR's Fresh Air, and she commented that this story was "extremely forward thinking" at the time Patricia Highsmith wrote the novel. Apparently it was typical for lesbian novels of the time to end with one or both women dying, or ending up in a mental hospital. Carol does have a relatively happy ending, and it made it easier for me to watch, knowing in advance that this would be the case. |
It has been awhile since I have posted some of the movies/documentaries that I have caught. I thought I would share a list here this morning. Many fine people have posted some of these if not all. (((((hugs to all*S)))): Brooklyn- difficult predicament and I felt there are some similiarities to LDR's .... The Big Short- I appreciated the actors and the honest perspective concerning what happened.... Burnt- I really enjoyed this movie more than I thought. Carol- moving and haunting The Danish Girl- Interesting Freeheld- I am a fan of non-fiction based movies, books etc. This was emotional. I appreciate how far we have come in the last four years or so... I Am Potential-A father puts his energy into his son who is blind and wheelchair-bound helping his sone overcome obstacles that shows the other's the sons potential.... Inside Out-I loved this..when I lived in England my grandfather had these comics which I loved to read. They were comics of people with little people in inside the body making everything work...not sure if I explained that in the best way but the movie made me smile.... Joy- Better than I thought it would be and enjoyed it. Room- good movie The Intern- I liked this The Stanford Prison Experiment - Interesting Trumbo- I encourage watching this another non-fiction based movie that opened my eyes to a history I didn't reallize existed in that arena. Spotlight- A must see *CAUTION-TRIGGER PRONE* so protect yourself mind body health before you decide to watch this movie, I suggest reading a bit about it and then making a decision. *Hugs* Steve Jobs- It was okay .... Straight Outta Compton- Very insightful What Happened, Miss Simone?- A must see Just my brief two cents*S Have a great Friday!!!!! |

Trailer is marginally better than the movie :/
Vin Diesel tries to leave his Fast & Furious persona but fails miserably. He is better in films with that genre as not much dialogue and acting is required as action scenes dictate the plot. |

This movie is so riveting, and put me on such an emotional roller coaster...I think I felt just about every emotion imaginable....I ask myself with events that are constantly being brought to life ..tears..the injustice..the brutality of police officers ( I know not all are like those portrayed in this movie or in the news) ..there is a very huge problem that needs to be addressed though....I could go on and on.....I ask myself have things really changed that much today?..Peace and love....." |
Saw Star Wars today! Was soooo good. Wish that had been the version that came out when I was a kid.

Saw "Hateful 8". It is the latest Tarantino film. Did not not care for it. Thought it long and rather boring. It had a few moments...just too few for me.

Inside Job, Documentary
Documentary about the 2008 worldwide financial meltdown that cost 20 trillion dollars and ruined millions of people. Liked it very much and highly recommend it. It has the meat and seriousness I was looking for in The Big Short. This filmmaking team did a lot of research, interviewed a lot of people, and have laid this out in a cohesive and easy to understand documentary. Great job by them. |

Foreign film. A now-famous conductor (orchestra, not train) reflects on his early life as a troubled boy living in a very strict home for problem children.
The lives of the boys are changed with the hire of a supervisor who reaches them through music. Kind of a tired format, but the film was quite good. If you enjoy foreign films, I recommend it. |

I saw Ted 2 and Fantastic 4 tonight. I got what I expected with Ted so I wasn't disappointed and it was okay. The F4 reboot was unnecessary and was also okay.
