Study yourself. Find your strong points and make them stronger
as well as your weak ones and strengthen them. Study yourself carefully and you will see yourself as you really are. Theron Q. Dumont |
Only by much searching and mining, are gold and diamonds obtained, and people
can find every truth connected with their beings, if they will dig deep into the mine of their souls; and that they are the makers of their character, the molders of their lives, and the builders of their own destinies, they may unerringly prove, if they will watch, control, and alter their thoughts, tracing their effects upon themselves, upon others, and upon their lives and circumstances, linking cause and effect by patient practice and investigation, and utilizing their every experience, even to the most trivial, everyday occurrence, as a means of obtaining that knowledge of themselves which is Understanding, Wisdom, Power. James Allen |
Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.
Carl Jung |
Most true happiness comes from one's inner life, from the
disposition of the mind and soul. Admittedly, a good inner life is difficult to achieve, especially in these trying times. It takes reflection and contemplation and self-discipline. William L. Shirer |
Reflection must be reserved for solitary hours; whenever she was alone,
she gave way to it as the greatest relief; and not a day went by without a solitary walk, in which she might indulge in all the delight of unpleasant recollections. Jane Austen |
The real man smiles in trouble,
gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection. Thomas Paine |
“Sleep is perverse as human nature, Sleep is perverse as a legislature, Sleep is as forward as hives or goiters, And where it is least desired, it loiters.”

and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world. Oscar Wilde |

The Summer Day
by Mary Oliver Who made this world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? The grasshopper, I mean the one who has flung herself out of the grass the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? |
Vince Larkin [John Cusack]: "The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by observing its prisoners." Dostevsky said that... after doin' a little time. To know someone deeply

A lot of people mistake a short memory for a clear conscience. ~Doug Larson
Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught. ~J.C. Watts You do not wake up one morning a bad person. It happens by a thousand tiny surrenders of self-respect to self-interest. ~Robert Brault Glynn |
"As I started to picture the trees in the storm, the answer began to dawn on me. The trees in the storm don't try to stand up straight and tall and erect. They allow themselves to bend and be blown with the wind. They understand the power of letting go. Those trees and those branches that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break. Now is not the time for you to be strong, Julia, or you, too, will break." - -- Julia Butterfly Hill |

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.” -Walt Disney |
I wrote this at Christmas time for a woman called ROSE, she has been my muse for a couple of years now.
You MUST sing it to tune of RUDOLF THE RED NOSE REINDEER. Rose has a couple of puppies Hidden down her sweater top And if you ever saw them You would think their gonna pop One of the little puppies Has a cherry for a nose And i would love to see it Can i have a peek dear Rose Then one frosty christmas night Rose fell on her ass And the puppies both fell out And rolled round in the grass Then as i watched her struggle To put them back inside her bra I smiled and i whispered to her I love them just the way they are. |

retrosexually speaking
"Think of him as the anti-metrosexual, the opposite of that guy who emerged in the 1990s in all his pedicured, moussed-up, skinny-jeans glory. That man-boy was searching for his inner girl, it was argued. The retrosexual, however, wants to put the man back into manhood."

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is it's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

"Somewhere someone is thinking of you. Someone is calling you an angel. This person is using celestial colors to paint your image. Someone is making you into a vision so beautiful that it can only live in the mind. Someone is thinking of the way your breath escapes your lips when you are touched. How your eyes close and your jaw tightens with concentration as you give pleasure a home. These thoughts are saving a life somewhere right now. In some airless apartment on a dark, urine stained, whore lined street, someone is calling out to you silently and you are answering without even being there. So crystalline. So pure. Such life saving power when you smile. You will never know how you have cauterized my wounds. So sad that we will never touch. How it hurts me to know that I will never be able to give you everything I have."
