I know that fruit is full of carbs, but I seem to be able to eat more of it now than I used to and still have good blood sugar readings and lose weight....as long as I stay away from the "bad" carbs....the white flour, white rice, sugar kind.

I'm really starting to think that if it's processed then I probably shouldn't eat it, period.

Getting in touch with my inner cavewoman and eating a very "primitive" diet seems to be the key for me! :)

Carbs are interesting little critters aren’t they? I have done so many food trials around this it is ridiculous. :seeingstars:

As soon as I think I’ve got them nailed down another surprise shows up. Processed stuff is definitely out, if it has a nutrition label they are using it to hide something.

But then as you just mentioned, whole foods require effort even if just remembering to have them around. Yet we are surrounded with crap food at all times.

I too can eat fruit until it comes out of my ears and almost all vegetables too; my exception on this is white potatoes, can’t go near them. Yams, sweet potatoes, and squash are fine though.

Grain? Forget it. Low nutrient, high carb and most things have them refined in some way, to some degree. I reserve the right to experiment more with whole quinoa in the future as a possible maintenance item. :deepthoughts:

When I finally dropped the grains my weight loss became very predictable and kept at a steady rate for over six months and is still going strong. I know it’s a tough sell, but the palate will re-educate itself. I have no desire for those things anymore.

I think they are a gateway drug to crapland. At least for me.

One thing I am certain of is that something will come along, probably sooner than later, to turn everything I think on its arse.

Good morning everybody!

It's crunchy oats with almonds and slice strawberries for breakfast and black coffee. Mmmm.

I hope you all have a good healthy day!

I woke up this morning wanting something sweet (I know, bad), but the other day I bought some new yummy toaster waffles.

http://www.kelloggsfiberplus.com/ima...hipWaffles.jpg

For 2 waffles they are only 180 calories (5 WW points). No butter needed! I just toasted 2 of these, grabbed a banana and headed out the door for work.

I've been seriously watching my carbs and eating no white flour or sugar...and my weight has been steadily dropping for the last week and a half (I weigh daily because it helps me stay on track).

Yesterday, a couple things happened...highly stressful last 2 days, ran out of Greek yogurt and the salad greens I really like and didn't get to the store, let myself get actively hungry several times and ate dumplings (only 2, but made with white flour) last night with dinner.

This morning, the scale was up 1/2 lb.

The irony? I probably ate less yesterday in total than I have been for the last week and a half. Shows me how ready my body is to pack on the weight when I don't eat right, and when I let those bad carbs back into the meal plan.

Needless to say, this morning's breakfast is Greek yogurt and blueberries...and I'm making doubly sure to avoid the white flour and bad carbs going forward.

Definitely if you drop carbs (white bread, processed foods, flour tortillas) and sugar you will lose weight. I was in a competition once to see who could lose the most weight in a certain amount of time. . and I won. The way I did this was to get rid of Pizza, Breads, Carbs, Tortillas, and Soda. I lost about 15 lbs with that and walked away with some money. haha. And I walked away with a lifetime lesson of what packed the pounds on to begin with. Now I eat whole wheat or multigrain breads and wheat or corn tortillas. They even have some that have no fat. and I have small amounts of sugar which is mostly in fresh fruits and maybe some sauces. When I go to the store I look for alternatives with no fat, no sugar, low sodium. If you're a pizza lover, which I am. Try thin crust and only eat a couple slices. If you just make a few changes without going crazy you will definitely see results! Happy healthy eating! (:

Hi. After our WW meeting on Saturday John Shaft and I went to Costco and did our shopping for HEALTHY FOODS and when I turned my back, JS put these in the cart... When I saw them I thought that he was kidding and immediately yelled, "what!" and it wasn't a joke, so I'm all, 'Are you sure?' and he was emphatic...

This huge package of cookies is all gone and I ate most of them. I am blaming JS--What a JERKHEAD!

Well, hopefully things will slow down a bit for you to catch up and get back on track. Remember, one meal at a time!

PinkieLee 08-24-2011 01:14 PM

apretty... I think that I just drooled all over my keyboard, thanks to those yummy looking cookies. Is there ANY possible way, they were in fact fat free and/or sugar free?! I think they were ;)

That JS of yours... is a freakin' cookie pusher!!!

That splurge is ok hot stuff.... we've all done it. My downfall ~ booze! All my weekly points are spent on alcohol :)

Good Evening Everyone,

I am having a half of a cup of brown rice with a half of a cup of black beans and chocolate soymilk for dinner.

We are having our monthly potluck lunch/dinner at work tomorrow. I found out that most of the items people are bringing in is, fried foods. Which means, I won't be able to have any of the food, so I will be packing a lunch tomorrow.

Hope you have a great day and night!

I just did 15 minutes on the bike. Eh, not great at all but I'm exhausted and doing 15 minutes was a chore.

According to my calorie thing on the bike, it burned 115 calories. I don't trust it so I'm going to look it up. :fastdraq:

Hey everyone,

I found this nifty tool online. It's a little weird to use at first, but....you put in your weight, how long you did something, and click on the activity you did (like biking, stationary - moderate....that's the weird part) and click calculate.

It tells you how many calories you burned.

According to it, a 220 lb. person doing 30 mins. of moderate stationary biking burns 349 calories. So I'm guessing you both did better than you thought. :)

Here's the link: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php

i am so so so down on myself right now, i want to cry.
Last week, when i weighed in, i had a 36 lb loss altogether..
Today, i weighed in, and i gained 4 damn lbs.

Why? Well, Monday, i had a BINGE day, and i ate out at Mother Nature's.. Salad was good but the wrap, not so much probably... The binging that night was here at home, no junkfood, but overate with my portions.. Then, last night, i broke down and made pasta and it was white pasta, which i know isn't good... PLUS, i didn't exercise yesterday, i'm still so sore from overdoing it the other day, and i just...

BAH! =(
i know, i know.. it's a new day and get back on track - i'm trying.. But just makes me wanna cry my face off.. my clothes still fit loose, and i don't notice it much that way at all, still lotsa energy..

Just really friggin' discouraging!

nycfem 08-25-2011 07:52 AM

I'm so sorry you are feeling so down today :(

It helps me to focus on thinking in terms of what I've lost overall from my highest weight. In my journal every day I always start it with (pretending I'm you):

"I have lost 32 pounds since [date of highest weight]"

It's a reminder of the bigger picture of how much we have done. In other words, unless you weighed in and gained 37 pounds this week, you are still on the right track and have accomplished a lot!

I am proud of you and very impressed (f)

I think sometimes it's easy to forget exactly how long the journey to a smaller body can be.

I am hovering at 295. I migth hover at 295 for a week or two or three but I know eventually I'll get on the scales and I'll be 294....293....290........275................goal weight. :)

I set 6-pound goals for myself. My next goal point is 289. It seems like getting into the next number bracket is always a huge thing for me personally so I like to make sure I am focusing on small goals that feel super-reachable. Of course, my overall goal is 165 and that's a long way off but if I can lose a total of 170 pounds doing it one pound at a time, I think I can make it. :)

Luck to all!

ruffryder 08-25-2011 08:01 AM

Good morning Everybody! We will hit a plateau or gain some weight back. It's bound to happen. Let's not get discouraged. Let's be strong and get back on track. For me today I'm gonna go for chicken breast, salad, fresh fruits, and fresh veggies. Lots of water! This morning I'm just gonna start with coffee.. then I'll have a mid morning snack of honeydew melon and for lunch it will be chicken breast tenderloin and fresh green beans.

Cowboi 08-25-2011 08:17 AM

Damn!!! What a workout. My arms feel like noodles.
Chris was there "To pump me up" LoL
