sorry for the sappy video; this has best audio |
Some weird things to note about this:
First, were those two women there when we shot the video?? And if they were, are they twins? And what, really, is their purpose? This song is about Little Jimmy Brown, birth to death. The guy singing it is Jim Ed Brown. Little strange.... Watch how Jim Ed Brown directs his gaze. Also, a little strange.... My mother used to play this--and many similar songs--when I was little to see me cry. (Don't worry--she had redeeming traits.) |

Why must I feel like this today? I'm a soldier but afraid sometimes To face the things that may Block the sun from shinin' rays And fill my life with shades of grey But still I long to find a way So today I pray for grace I take a moment to myself So I can heal myself To feel myself And be real myself Life's addictions and afflictions Cause abrasions from their friction Sometimes it's easier to live in fiction I can run but I can't hide From the pains that Reside deep down inside There is no pill That can be swallowed There is no guru That can be followed There's no escapin' From my own history Those that I hurt And those that hurt me I was dead for a million years 'Fore I was born and I'll be dead for a million more After I'm gone So I live to give somethin' That can live on Like the way you hum a song when the music's gone Like the warmth of the sand When the sun goes down And I'm sittin' with myself Nobody else is around but Why must I feel like this today? I'm a soldier but afraid sometimes To face the things that may Block the sun from shinin' rays And fill my life with shades of grey But still I long to find a way So today I pray for grace Been a long, long time Since I been away Been a long, long time Since I felt this way Been a long, long time I found the words to say How much I'm grateful For my life today 'Cause under every cup You might find a nut Behind every corner You might get jacked up At the end of every rainbow You might find gold The last bite of your sandwich Hope you don't find mold 'Cause none of us Can live the perfect life The kind that we see on Nick at Night And sometimes we all Just lose sight Of the pain that will guide us From dark into the light We fall down yes, but we get up And sometimes we just need A little bit of love To help make it Through another day Into the night, into the light, Into a Saturday So in the morning when I'm waitin' For the sun to raise And my head's a little foggy Like I'm in a haze I remind myself that Everything is gonna be okay I take a breath, slow down and say... Why must I feel like this today? I'm a soldier but afraid sometimes To face the things that may Block the sun from shinin' rays And fill my life with shades of grey But still I long to find a way So today I pray for grace So today I pray for grace.......... |

Hope Has A Place Enya One look at love and you may see it weaves a web over mystery, all ravelled threads can rend apart for hope has a place in the lover's heart. Hope has a place in a lover's heart. Whispering world,a sigh of sighs, The ebb and the flow of the ocean tides. One breath, one word may end or may start a hope in a place of the lover's heart. Hope has a place in a lover's heart. Look to love you may dream, and if it should leave then give it wings. But if such a love is meant to be; Hope is home, and the heart is free Under the heavens we journey far, on roads of life we're the wanderers, So let love rise, so let love depart, Let hope have a place in the lover's heart. Hope has a place in a lover's heart. Look to love and you may dream, and if it should leave then give it wings. But if such a love is meant to be; Hope is home, and the heart is free. Hope is home, and the heart is free. |

In my fantasy I'm a pantomime I'll just move my hands and everyone sees what I mean Words are too messy And it's way past time To end in my mouth Paint my face white and tried Reinvent the sea One wave at a time Speak without my voice and see the world by candlelight I ain't afraid to let it out I'm not afraid to take that fall But I have found beyond all doubt We say more by saying nothing at all In my fantasy no such thing as time Minutes bleed into days Avant garde Show me your heresies And I'll show you mine We only speak in pantomimes on this carpet ride I ain't afraid to let it out I'm not afraid to take that fall But I have found beyond all doubt We say more by saying nothing at all In my fantasy you look good entwined In my hair and skin and spit and sweat and spilled red wine You're my deep secret I'm your pantomime I'll just move my hands I promise you'll see what I mean |
The Little White Cloud That Cried
First one has the best audio version; the second one shows Ray performing, which is... interesting. Johnnie Ray was profoundly deaf. You can see his hearing aid in the video. Amazing that his voice is so rich despite that.
This is another song my mom played to make me cry. Ha ha, god love 'er! |

Little Becky's Christmas Wish
This is an anti-war song with an interesting slant. Many people have said that this is the saddest song they've ever heard. I bawled my eyes out back then and I might have even teared up over it today, too, but not really. Not crying. Not. |
