Son & I watched "The Family" with Michelle Pfeiffer (aging beautifully I must add :)) and Robert DeNero. It was a pretty good movie, we liked it. I believe it was 1 hour 45 minutes, so not to long.
We have "Kick Ass 2" for later today. |
EnderGame and it was STUPID

documentary about cross dressing man who was almost beaten to death and used his artwork to help himself recover ... Have watched it several times. |
Fruitvale Station: best film I've seen in a long time, so genuine, its from the heart and heartbreaking; it's a beautiful, powerful little independent film by a first time director. This film was overlooked by most of the major awards shows this year - their loss, this film outshines most every other film nominated in the top Academy Award categories.
American Hustle: I h.a.t.e.d. it. I really wanted to get up and leave less than 10 minutes in. I was so disappointed, I had really high hopes, I love David O'Russell's films, I loved the Jennifer Lawerence/Bradley Cooper pairing in 'Silver Linings Playbook' ... but this film just fell flat for me, it felt completely disingenuous on every level. It featured a cast of wholly unlikeable 2-dimensional characters, the actors did a good job with what they had, but what they had was a whole lot of nothing. The screenplay was full of holes and jokes that missed their mark, the direction was meandering and self-indulgent. The only upside to the production were the costumes, hair & make-up design --- it says something when the only redeeming aspects of a film are Amy Adams navel plunging necklines and Jennifer Lawerence's hair. What a hype-machine they generated for this mediocre movie, it irritated me that I bought into the hype. And it definitely doesn't pass the Bechdel test. :P I know my opinions on this are in the minority. |
Identity Theft for about the 10th time

Watching the Wallander series on Netflix.. based on Henning Mankel novels... moodiest detective imaginable. What is it about those Swedes?
|
Holland's. Excellent. Very moving and disturbing
|
Ok. I feel redeemed. I thought I was the only one who thought American Hustle was a barely comprehensible thud. Thanks Sparkle, that's a terrific review (see above).
Bring back Boogie Nights or some old Ron Jeremy masterworks. |

Weird. I meant to say Philamena where Holland came from, I don't know, lol

My husband's review of the last film we watched.
Only God Forgives (2013) Director: Nicolas Winding Refn Writer: Nicolas Winding Refn I do think if you edited down the film to the dialogue and violent scenes this film would last about twenty minutes. The film does capture pointless acts of violence leading to more pointless acts of violence both Julian, played by Ryan Gosling and Chang (Vithaya Pansringarm) have a very disjointed moral compass. Enter Crystal (Thomas) as the mother and you soon realize why her sons are messed up! Nicolas Winding Refn’s usage of mise-en-scene is certainly apparent between this film and previously Drive. |
We're the Millers (or is We are the Millers)? Anyways it was okay, I guess I thought it would have been better. Not gonna lie some parts were real good ;)
|
Lizzie Borden with Christina Ricci.
It was well acted by Ricci. It was disappointing in its focus, which was almost completely on the trial. It would have been better to focus on what led up to it or her life after her not guilty verdict. Both of those aspects are much more interesting. |
Saw the second Hunger Games film. I liket it, cant wait for the next.

Blue is the Warmest Color.
Overall, I did not really like it. I don't want to talk about why in case others still want to see it...(no spoilers here). :movieguy: |
