Globs of Heinz Catsup, sweet pickle relish, sauteed onions and French's Mustard....yummy
|
I watched a show on the Food Network once a few years ago..and on one of the Hawaiian Islands, is a place called "Puka Dogs"...and NOW I want to go and have some so badly. I believe if you google them, you will find out about them.
Basically they place a bun on one end, on a pointed,, sharp spike, that toasts it..then slide a wiener inside and fill with so many differing condiments..one is like coconut sauce, and so many other exotic ones...yummmmmI WANT ONE! NOW!!!! |
Nick's Coney Island Hot Dogs
http://www.twentymile.com/Cookbook/coneydogsl.gif mustard, onion, coney island sauce I miss these. A lot. Next time I'm anywhere near Boston or Cape Cod I will make sure I visit Fall River, MA. Home of the best food in the world. Coney island hot dogs are just the tip of the iceberg. Hartley's pork pies, chow mein sandwiches, Chourico or linguica pizza, actually chourico or linguica anything, malassadas...I guess I'm hungry. For junk food apparently. |
OMG! Those look scrumptious!!! Have a couple for me, too...please? TY for sharing!

Oh My Mr. Day! You actually got me to thinking and I like them more than one way...depends on the day.
Sometimes I make them with ketchup and lots of raw sweet onions. Other times I do them with hot mustard from McDonald's Still yet there are kraut dog days with mustard And lastly, there is the days that I want chili cheese mustard and a ton of raw sweet onions. Like I said just depends on the day...Haahaa! Day---day. Ok. I crack myself up! |
When at home (it's a staple for the "fend for yourself" dinner) I have 2 Oscar Mayer beef hot dogs, first boiled a little to heat, then pan seared ('cause boiled hot dogs are just nasty), split in half length-wise, put a slice of american cheese and let it melt. Served on toast (just regular bread, I don't use hotdog buns 'cause they're a luxury), slather BOTH sides with plenty of ketchup. (It's actually the only thing I eat ketchup on, but will not eat a hot dog if it doesn't have ketchup.)
Out in public, I love them all kinds of ways. |

I am a huge hot dog fan, I think I could live off them, and Puka Dogs win hands down. http://www.pukadog.com/menu/english-menu I love Summer because all the hot dog stands are out. Here in Alberta we have Fat Franks and I love the Honey Ham with Yellow mustard and Sauerkraut. Oh, now I want a hot dog, but alas its blizzarding so I will stay inside and have a bowl of soup. Sigh :girleating: |

I truly discovered the difference between a good dog and a GREAT dog when I lived in NY. My favorite is.... A Zwegles pop-open red, yellow mustard, onions, chili and cole slaw! YUMMMMMMMMMMM!

Not much of a hot dog eater, but when I do, I like chicago dogs which are bun, weiner, relish, tomato, onion, pickle and a hot pepper.
|
I ate mine plain for most of my life... yep, just a bun, no fixings. Now I like a little, and I mean a little, yellow mustard and sweet relish. I am ashamed to admit I like mine cooked on those slow roaster machines that turn them constantly, like at 7-Eleven... LOL
