Excellent question! For this vacation, I'm looking for opportunities to meet the locals, b-f folks in particular. I don't know if there are restaurants, bars, etc. that would be welcoming.

There's a gayborhood called Oaklawn...Cedar Springs Road is the main street that the bars/clubs/restaurants are on. Sue Ellen's is the women's bar. There's also JRs, S4, Rose Room (drag shows), TMC, Round Up (country western), Woody's (sports bar), etc.

I miss the Sue Ellens of the early 2000's, its not the same bar as it was 15 years ago. Its in a new location and I just can't stand the music there they have now.
