You refuse to be the one in the only red shirt when going out with friends.

I am actually looking forward to the next expansion, this one just didn't do it for me~

thedivahrrrself 04-02-2012 08:43 AM

I might be a geek.

If the release of this video game made you go EEEEEEEEE!!!!!

And, if you've ever considered donning the Leia "slave" outfit to keep a relationship alive!
:darthsmiley:

thedivahrrrself 04-02-2012 09:01 AM

and many more....

If your dating application has a section on differential equations and/or quantum theory.

If you've ever dated someone only for their brain.

If you've ever used Bazinga! to indicate you were joking.

If Neil Degrasse Tyson and Stephen Hawking make your heart go pitter-pat.

If you would literally give your left leg to get on Richard Branson's spaceship.

If the word "exterminate" makes you think only of Daleks.

If you never miss an episode of Nova.

If you've seen the Chad Vader web series.

If you regularly quote The IT Crowd even though no one else around you has ever seen it.

If you feel vile repulsion for Jar Jar Binks.

Oh, I could go on for days.... This thread is making me smile!

thedivahrrrself 04-02-2012 09:19 AM

oh, and since season 2 is almost out!

If you know that there must always be a Stark in Winterfell. :)

You might be a geek if you routinely find yourself in photographs with storm troopers, boba fett, or other random star wars characters. (including 3 or 4 different Vader's)

You might be a geek if you leave a convention, only to start the countdown to the next one, and refer to the time in between as *Convention Depression*

You might be a geek if you know who Codex is, and know all of the words to Do you wanna date my avatar?

You also might be a geek if you have extensive knowledge as to why playing ACTUAL dungeons and dragons is so much more fun then dungeons and dragons online (yet you play both)

p.s. i love this thread!

After you teach your child something new you call them young padawan. . . . . . hehe.

wolfbittenpoet 04-02-2012 06:18 PM

If you are going to buy a kinect simply to get your sith on.

If for your birthday you really wanted a steampunk cake but settled for a new pocketwatch and a sonic screwdriver.

trixie 04-02-2012 09:18 PM

...you know that Wednesday is new comic day.

thedivahrrrself 04-03-2012 02:28 PM

comics

Or if you could have an hour long discussion about the merits of Marvel vs. DC...

I want.

...have you ever seriously considered dressing up as lets say a Night Elf Druid, perhaps and playing your character in character.

my favourite nerds ever!

http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/26/n...ie-from-shame/

back in 2008 this was a written about my two fav nerds, by Justin Villasenor
*before wi, before kinect, before total immersion was but a dream held by a few of us, that wanted to get moving while we game*

"Apparently mice and keyboard controls just aren’t immersive enough for some people, as evidenced by the two guys in the above video. They show off the treadmills they’ve rigged up to control character movement in World of Warcraft, and for some reason they also decided it would be a good idea to cosplay as female Night Elves while doing so. Don’t ask me why.

Elijah and Aaron start off in Shadowglen and race to nearby Darnassus. Elijah narrowly won with a time of four minutes and fifty seconds. The two of them look pretty damn tired afterwards; maybe they should have used a more rigorous training regimen.

Once he’s able to breathe normally again, Aaron goes over how the treadmill controllers work: a mouse tracks a pad on a bicycle wheel that is spun by the treadmill. A scripting program then converts this movement into ‘W’ pulses, resulting in forward movement. He also mentions that while a WoW character has a running speed of 12 mph, they only needed to maintain a speed of 6 mph to get their Night Elves running. I guess a 1:1 pace was just too much for them to maintain.

Do you think a movement scheme like this could be a good way for some gamers to shed extra pounds?"

and most guys love to play female toons, at least over at Blizzard. My theory is because females are so much nicer to look at, especially kicking ass and taking names! And most guys are straight, if they are going to spend hours on end in front a computer screen, they would like to have something lovely to look at.

hot

thedivahrrrself 04-03-2012 04:24 PM

I might lose some geed cred for this ...

I might lose some geek cred for this, but I have actually never dressed up in character. And I've also never played WoW.

[ducking to avoid the flying collectors items being hurled at me]

Maybe one reason I've never dressed up is because most of my favorite SciFi characters are male, and you can't really be a sexy Dr. Who.... LOL Although, I have thought of making a fabulous silver mod dress that looks like a Dalek. (must. learn. sewing!)

I love all things space-related, though. When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. I even went through the Space Academy summer programs a couple of times at NASA. Good times... Now, I need to have kids so I can go back with them!

And I ♥ technology, except Apple. I hate Apple. [ducking again] Mainly because iTunes is the stupidest music software ever made (REALLY?? You can't drag and drop? WTF?!?!?!) Linux is beautiful because it harnesses the power of freedom; open sourcing is like technological democracy. I will admit that Siri kicks Iris's ass, though. Android will evolve to be better. It always does.

So, I have no idea why I'm writing all this, except that this thread keeps me going through the whole workday. Oh, geeks, how I love thee!

Me either! I'm not creative enough to make a costume - and DragonCon takes place on Labor Day weekend - which is hot as hell in Atlanta. Oh - and I'm a voyeur I guess lol

As far as WoW - just never appealed to me. :)

Me too - but mainly because everyone loves it. I call them Apple Heads. :) Lovingly of course since my wife is a communis... eerrr I mean Apple Hea.... err I mean she's a lovely woman who I sleep with and thus mustn't upset. ;) lol

trixie 04-04-2012 08:47 PM

I've also never cosplayed. Or played WOW. But, I have worked at comic books stores and own way, way, way, way too many comics.
