This would be more like a wine cooler. On another note: I handle my beer quite well. :-)

Beer of the Week!

This could be fun. I am going to post a beer that may or may not be available in your area. If it is and you have time to try one, let the rest of know what it was like and if you are coming to the reunion maybe you could bring a few bottles to exchange.

Let start with this one.

I love stouts too, especially Imperial Stouts. Unfortunately, they are expensive.

My favorite is Bell's Expedition Stout:

Kiwi beer

Not much point in talking about it detail and actually I don't know the type of beer I like. I drank Corona (with lime) and Sierra Nevada when I lived in the States. Liked both of them.

Here's an article about NZ beer: http://www.beer-pages.com/stories/new-zealand-beers.php

An old-school brand is Tui Beer and a brand I discovered when last home is Monteith. Monteith has nice beer!

I had two cans of Carlsburg tonight with my dinner.

The last stout I had was a microbrew and not good.

Chai stout -- from Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. You only tasted the spices the first few sips, and after that it was thin and tasteless.

I really like Carlsburg. I drank a lot of this on tap when I lived in Scotland. I was glad to see it was available in Oklahoma. I use this when I crave a snake bite. :-)

Snake bite????

Martina 07-29-2012 09:14 AM

Confession: I am a bad beer snob. I am a music snob, too. But I don't roll my eyes when people love some insipid pop singer. I am pretty much "to each her own." But with beer, if someone tells me they love Pabst Blue Ribbon and wants to high five me, saying "YAY, Pabst," it's all I can do not to roll my eyes so far to the right that all you see are the whites.

Just a heads up. (Good that this is text and you can't see the eyes.)

Found this article on PBR. God, it's from 2003. Feels like it was yesterday that I read it. I am getting old.

Anyway, interesting re marketing.

Thanks for the link. I have always been a PBR drinker. We don't have real beer in our grocery stores here and have to go a liquor store to get beer. A 30 pack of PBR cost 15.99 here so I got use to having it cooling 24/7.

Don't Try This One! Yuck

Ultra 19th Hole!
Light Tea and Lemonade.

If beer could have a rotten taste this would be what it tasted like.

Yuck

I love the idea of doing this. I doubt I would like this since it is a blonde, but I looked and can't get it around here, anyway. I would be very happy to play this game if there are any beers I would have access to.

Imperial Stouts are my favorite, as well! I looked up the Bell's you posted and I can't get it around here.

I totally get this. It is like Boone's Farm versus <insert expensive, quality tasting wine here>.

I think we can assume that a beer thread such as this would be mainly about craft beers/microbrews :praying: , so no worries. :D

Bad_boi 07-30-2012 12:27 AM

Amber and red ales for me.

I like pyramid and redhook best.

DapperButch 07-31-2012 08:13 PM

Oh, Martina, Darling!

Tonight's Imperial Stout.

http://victorybeer.com/beers/storm-king-stout/

Fantastic.

I was over at a new friend's house and he introduced me to Victory beers. The other night (after I read the thread), I ran out to pick up a couple of individual stouts to try and decided to give this one a go since I liked Victory's Golden Monkey beer.

For the Imperial Stout lover, it is a WIN.

i'm an every now and then social drinker. seems like i have to have a drink when i go on vacation or road trip. i like bud lime, miller lime, corona, ... yeah i do like lime. i had a beer in knoxville tn (made there) called cherokee red ale. pretty good, i liked it a lot. i like to try beers made in the towns i'm visiting. and wines too lol. something to do.

RockOn 07-31-2012 08:31 PM

Before I got into recovery ...

I was a beer drinker. My favorite beer was Miller Lite.

For someone wired like me, giving it up was a tiny price for a huge and wonderful payoff. In the beginning, I was terrified. I did not see how I would ever be able to get the Miller Lite Monkey off my back ... But I would not give up on my recovery, in spite of being driven by 100 forms of fear.

It worked out. ;)

Cheers!

Blue Moon Honey Wheat just for hanging out at a BBQ. Wenatchweisen when at the Columbia Brewery listening to music and pear cider (not beer I know) when sitting down at the Saddlerock Brewery....just to name a few.

Mrs Arcstriker 07-31-2012 10:59 PM

Arc loves Corona (with or without lime...He only insists upon the lime at Jimmy Buffett...)

For me, there is only one beer and it is Stella Artois...and only then with the full beheading ceremony...
