Good morning Mrs. Strutt :) Enjoy your mini-vacation...always good to get a few days break to enjoy!

You aren't kidding on the "month ago"....actually I was shooting for late spring...then June....then July 1...ugh. It's a nightmare.

Basically we're on hold until we hear from the bank about our offer....then it's a few weeks until we can close on the house and I can move. I would even toss stuff in storage and go early, but it's what to do about the critters :seeingstars:

I'm just hoping they hurry the heck up...I am more than ready to get moved and settled...and I LOVE the idea of a party.... :cheer:

As soon as we hear a peep...we'll let you know. :)

Bella~Vita 07-07-2010 10:09 AM

Gm 'everyone'

The sun was out ... now its dreary again ... oh well ... could be worse, it could be snow

There's alot people moving here in Fl. and to Fl. :goodluck: to all of you.

For your information, people, it had nothing to do with weatherboi's post...that was a simple miscommunication.

And further for your information...may I remind you all that my father just had a triple bypass not two weeks ago? So why did was a bunch of freaking drama and assumptions automatically drummed up because we simply said we were not attending? Why didn't anyone wonder if something came up with my dad's convalescence and maybe my parents need me instead?

This is exactly the kind of bullshit that caused me to stop posting on the dash site.

Mrs. Strutt,

Your announcement was sudden and no explanation was offered. Under such circumstances, of course people are going to wonder and look for a cause-and-effect in the realm in which it occurred. That is human nature. You had quite a few people planning on coming from out of town for the get-together. Did you not feel that any explanation at all was due? Even a simple, "it's a family/personal issue", would have sufficed and all this could have been avoided.

You say that people shouldn't conjecture, but yet you scold others for not considering it may have to do with a surgery your dad had 2 weeks ago. Would that not also be making an assumption? Regardless, I hope your father's convalescence goes well. My father had the same procedure a few years ago and did very well. I hope yours does, too.

Zimmeh 07-07-2010 04:07 PM

Good Afternoon Tranzman,

If they are into nature, there is a nature preserve in Bradenton, just south on I-275 called Emerson Point...You can see Tampa Bay and the Sunshine Bridge from the shore. There is also Amelia Island in Bradenton, it is on Route 64 or State Road 64, it has been a few years since I have been to Bradenton. You also have all of the horse farms in Ocala, FL and International Drive in Orlando that is within driving distance.

Hope this helps and have a good day,

Zimmy

It's looking as though the rain has finally left the area and the sun is shining brightly once again. Now perhaps I can take my sister and nephew out to explore this beautiful coast of ours. :)

I'm up for any get-togethers that crop up, I am newly single and new to the area as well so I am a tad bit bored out of my mind. :seeingstars: Also if anyone is into moving parties, I will be moving into my house at the end of this month. j/k

Zimmy,

The nature preserve sounds like it would be fun, thanks! I am taking them to Tarpon Springs on Saturday.

Any other ideas are appreciated as well. :)

Stearns,

So, the issue was my fault because I didn't "explain" why I and my family had to decline? I find that interesting. I was under the impression the issue was caused because others took it upon themselves to throw all kinds of conjecture on a simple "I'm sorry, I can't make it."

No, I didn't find it necessary to "explain" why the Strutts were not able to attend. The last thing I expected was a bunch of panties and britches in a bunch, so the apparent necessity of an public explanation didn't occur to me when I posted.

I appreciate your well wishes for my father.

Stearns,

The thread is back on topic as it should be. It would be nice if you would not keep stirring it back up. This is purely a social thread, not a debate thread and we aim to keep it that way.

Attempts at good communication are a two-way street. It is not just the reader's responsibility, but the sender's, too. I am done, if you are.

If you all have a moment, I'd appreciate it if you would check out this post and consider signing these petitions. I can't believe either Disney or Discovery would even entertain the idea of aligning themselves with someone like Sarah Palin.

Then again, maybe not :seeingstars:

You made it a point to bother with me, Tranzman, when you posted what you did. Just let it go and go on with the thread.

MODERATING:

I really dislike having to do this twice.

I realize that there are some personal issues involved here, trust me, no one here is flying under the radar. NO ONE!

Reporting posts for reasons that apply to others as well, is not going to go over well with me.

Everyone needs to act like adults and take your personal issues out of the thread. I will not ask a third time.

I wish this thread was really a social thread, but I see it more as a some of you are welcome and some of you are not.

Good Morning Tranzman,

Your welcome and if you are into driving, there is always St. Augustine, which is about 3 hours from the Gulf Coast. I am taking my oldest niece and nephew and possibly my youngest niece there next Friday, before the two oldest head back home.

Ocala is gorgeous, but hot. Have fun at Tarpon Springs!!!

Morning, Florida. It's another lovely day on the west-central coast :)

Jesse 07-08-2010 08:33 AM

Zimmy,

Yeah I was raised over on the east coast of Florida, in Jacksonville actually so am very familiar with St. Augustine. It is a beautiful city. :) Thinking we are going to explore up and down the gulf coast a bit and may take them to Homosassa Springs as well as a nice drive down the coast one day. I have a pool so that keeps them super entertained much of the time, but I would like for them to be able to see some of our gorgeous state too. You're a great help, with wonderful ideas. Thank you :)
