I just finished making my bbq sauce for the ribs we'll have later. I think my sauce gets a little better each time I make it.....no store bought for me when I'm the one cooking.

My mind is filled with how good those ribs will taste when they're finally done cooking.

contemplating what I'm gonna do about this Tom Cat that keeps appearing on the porch, harassing my kittens. If she isn't careful the Moma cat will lead him to Chainsaw which I haven't caught yet. If I see him hurting Moma cat or Chainsaw, his days will be numbered on Peaceful Ridge.

Where are all the kind and tender-hearted? Where are our old values and standards? Why is it cool to be cruel? Why does it seem that hard and harsh is de rigueur? Why has it become a no-no to show common civility and to spare other's feelings?

I don't understand this world anymore. I don't belong. All that was wrong, is now cool and right. All that was right is considered passe, uncool, square and jurasic. I guess I'm just an old dinosaur as well and should be shipped off to the museum of antiquities...if all's that's 'now' is what it's all about, then, please do. Wrap me up in mothballs, and put me in the attic - I'll probably be happier there.

Sometimes, I feel just like this. I tire of mean spirited dialogue and people often. It takes a very balanced self-image these days to emote, be gentle and exhibit tenderness, I believe. We really do live in a selfish, entitled society. What hurts me the most as an off-spring of the greatest generation is that their efforts to give us a better life, failed miserably in terms of communication and understanding in so many ways. Too much, too soon, without knowing sacrifice comes to mind.

By the end of next week... I will be going through Turkey Hill Withdrawal!!!

AtLast...how did you survive it?

BoDy*ShOt 05-31-2010 06:38 PM

georgia is on my mind. seriously. i'm in need of a folks fix here soon...i'm missin' them. *sigh*

Soft*Silver 05-31-2010 06:50 PM

My old newf is having more difficulty getting up and going up stairs. It could be the weather..hot and humid. Bad for joints. But it surely is at least ALSO because she is 14 and her body was never meant to live this long. Her dementia is better lately...how unfair that as her mind is working better, he body is not.

For other reasons, I have been sleeping downstairs for the past couple nights. I am glad I have been. Going up stairs at night has always been hard. I think I might end up sleeping on the couch until she either gets better or if her time comes to leave me. I would and will sleep on the main floor if I have to, to keep her comfortable. I had a friend who slept downstairs for 8 months because her pit with hip cancer could not get up let alone, go up stairs.

What would you do for the comfort of your pet? I would do most anything...

Well, I just had to knuckle-up and go right out there and do some serious comparative samples.... about 6 pounds worth! There is dry-ice shipping, however. But, rather expensive. Hagen-Das can help at times... there is always taking a vacation back to TH land!

bigbutchmistie 05-31-2010 07:53 PM

6 pounds of samples huh? *big grin* I could enjoy that...good thing I have about a 25 mile walk to the nearest grocery store!!! I could EARN those treats and samples ;) ;) LOL but it will be hard to find a replacement. My best friend knows when she comes to visit that she'll have to pack a cooler of TH and Lebanon Sweet Bologna. Well... when my sister lived in Hawaii, she sent home Kona Coffee.. and when she was in Italy, I sent her Martin's BBQ chips... I guess as a last resort, maybe around Xmas time, I'll have to ship some in. (my Bday IS Xmas day however :cheesy: :cheesy: )
Thanks for the ideas, darlin'!!

Why am I almost always more tired when I wake up, then when I went to sleep?

Arrrrgggg

MissItalianDiva 06-01-2010 04:03 AM

Realizing this lack of sleep is not limited to being uncomfortable in pregnancy and that is just the begining. Funny how reality hits in the middle of the night. Ok...now perhaps sleep will come for a bit.

Finding out that I will be making a three hour trip in two weeks, to pick up my oldest niece and nephew so they can spend five weeks with us. This is the first time I have done this and I am excited. Throwing my oldest niece, the one I am picking up, a Hello Kitty themed birthday party and finding some really cute decorations for it.

Admitting a guilty pleasure here...maybe this should go on another thread, but it's not 5 things, just one.

That, like a child on Christmas morning, every day I look for presents in the form of reps and sweet, friendly, or infomative posts on my Visitor's Page...I especially love it when folks I don't know or interact with say something nice - it's a good way to start friendships.

Guess I should be a tad self-conscience about saying that, and I am, but am wondering if anyone else feels the same way...

Why its so hard to find quality people to date anymore

cinderella 06-01-2010 09:00 AM

My niece's baby shower. She's having her first baby at age of 41. It's a girl, yay!! Mommi and baby doing fine, and I'm so glad. At her age, and having her first baby can be dangerous, or so I've heard. I pray every night for her and her baby's health. I know she'll make a wonderful mommi - she's crazy about kids, and is so good with them.

This just makes me SICK!!!

MsTinkerbelly 06-01-2010 10:12 AM

Our upcoming trip to Europe...the time is flying by so quickly.
Plans for Mom's memorial party.
Cleaning, repairing, getting the house ready to be sold.
Packing up and going through things from 70 years of a life.
Regrets that I will always have for things I have done and cannot undo.
That I had no regrets for things left undone with my Mom.
On my mind the most today.... I feel the weight of the world slowly lifting off of my shoulders. There is no guilt, just quiet joy.

NJFemmie 06-01-2010 10:14 AM

Even though I really wanted a black or tuxedo kitten, that little silver/grey frost wolf looking tabby made a lasting impression.

I love thunderstorms. I like them better when I'm home.

Gemme 06-01-2010 10:58 AM

Getting better, considering sleeping for most of my days off to help reach that goal, preparing for a friend's visit, and eating the remains of my birthday pizza. :tease:

DITTO!!! Esp when they fry all of my electrical appliances! In almost 8 years I've replaced: 3 TV's, 1 computer, 1 cable modem box, stereo system, Vonage phone box, and the list goes on!! I need a whole-house power surger!!

Because:

A. they're taken
B. they're dead, or haven't been born yet
C. and, my personal fave, they don't exist...ok, maybe they do, but they're scarcer then the perverbial needle in the haystack!

Ok, moving right along with my hopeful, optimistic self...lol

Hey, take heart; dating isn't everything and neither is having a partner. Wouldn't you rather be free and not have to answer to anybody? no?

PinkieLee 06-01-2010 01:48 PM

What's on my mind right now...

The older I (and my mom) get, the more we are starting to clash or bump heads. I know that we are a lot alike, but every conversation that we have, something seems to get blown out of proportion.

I love her more than life itself... I just don't know how to fix it or make it better.

NJFemmie 06-01-2010 01:51 PM

Driving home (to close windows) during a torrential downpour totally sucked, but getting to watch Ember stop, drop and give me belly made the trip worth getting soaked for ... he's such a cutie patootey pants.
(Of course, if he wore pants)

Do you use a quality surge protector on all things that use electricity?

Wondering the possibilities of what may happen for me next month. UGH. IT's still NOT OVER DAMMIT.
