Streaming the inauguration. :|

Lyte 01-20-2017 12:54 PM

Watching the inauguration ... I'm about an hour behind. Probably a good thing... watching it live would have bummed me out even more!

Jesse 01-20-2017 01:42 PM

Eating a green salad for lunch and wondering what it would take to have this day designated as a national day of mourning.

Holding my family tight and trying not to vomit knowing that asshole is taking office.

Small world. I used to live in Silver Spring many moons ago until I moved to Cali.

Fuck Trump, indeed.

Have an awesome time tomorrow!

Soon 01-20-2017 03:58 PM

Omg I too almost went for a haircut today! But the weather cleared up and I took the dogs hiking instead.

Now I'm waiting for some Chinese. I'm freaking ravenous. I got a hot Netflix date when I get home :sunglass:

JDeere 01-20-2017 10:41 PM

Texting my friend from Oklahoma, posting on here, trying to see if there is something good one Netflix after I finished watching Medici.

Kätzchen 01-21-2017 12:33 AM

I am trying to unwind. It's been an peculiar day, not bad, just kind of .... weird, strange. I'm terribly tired, and hope I can drift if to sleep soon.

RockOn 01-21-2017 08:56 AM

Sitting here in the little area with the sink and built in vanity off the main bedroom, eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes. Jennifer and Kevie are in the bathroom on the other side of the door from where I am sitting. I had their safe place prepared before my weather radio blew its siren and my neighbor texted me TORNADO simultaneously. We have been practicing for these type days. I yell "FIRE DRILL" and my dogs go jump in the hole. Tornado on the ground nearby, said radar indicates rotation.

I charged Sears DIEHARD power supply last night. I have an Atomic Beam flashlight with fresh batteries in my pocket and a headlamp on that has new batterties too. Cannot think of anything else I can do but sit and wait.

I honestly do not expect anything.

Jesse 01-21-2017 09:46 AM

Listening to Gloria Steinem's speech at the women's march in DC, on NBC News.

JDeere 01-21-2017 09:50 AM

Getting ready to drive to the optical place to pick up my new glasses! Yay, I will be able to see again! :glasses:

Jesse 01-23-2017 03:38 PM

Now I am trying to learn how to use these progressive lenses! Right now they feel like a huge pain in the ass...I sure hope my eyes and brain figure this out soon! Other than not being able to see, I like my new glasses. lol

easygoingfemme 01-23-2017 05:44 PM

I'm feeling angsty. Going to work out and see if that helps. I'm not feeling optimistic about it though.

Hi buddy, it is not easy I have had mine for a year and I still have to move my head around to read with them. Reading glasses are so much easier.

Sunshine 01-23-2017 07:46 PM

Life has forced me to reinvent myself so I decided to study Transcription online. School just started in January 2017 until January 2018.

Meanwhile I work online in the mornings and I study in the afternoons.

I want to thank you all. Life has been very challenging for me and when I come here, I feel I belong. I appreciate that very much.

Thank you :bouquet:

Jesse 01-23-2017 07:48 PM

After a few hours of wear, I have figured out how to read with them and use them for distance etc. I think I may have to get the vision center to make a 2nd pair without all of the special effects these have, to wear when I am using the computer. My monitor screen is too large to wear progressives with. But yes, you need to basically point your nose where you want to read/see, instead of just moving your eyes back and forth.

Technically: working

Actually: chilling on the sofa and thinking about getting my book so I can read a bit.

I had problems with mine at first too. Fortunately my eye doc didn't just pat me on the head - say there there, and tell me if I just kept on keeping on the problem would resolve itself. She had her receptionist move her schedule around so she could re-examine me. Said though it sounded minor this is what I should avoid/do if things got worse. After re-examining me she was able to figure out what went wrong, sent my glasses back to the lab and had the problem fixed at no additional cost.

She said some difficulty adjusting is normal, especially for first time users, but it shouldn't be prolonged and definitely should not hurt. I still had to get used to them after they came back but it was nothing like the first time. I never did get used to the line in my old glasses so I'm very happy about being able to wear my progressives comfortably. Next time I'm going to heed her advice though. I like the look of the glasses I have now but I can see how I will benefit from going with a larger frame.

I don't know long it will take to adjust but if it persists I'd let your doc know if you haven't already. For me it was a minor tweak that made all the difference and now I love my progressives. Hopefully it proves to be the same for you. Some people just don't get used to them though and there's nothing wrong with that either. I actually like the look of glasses on people and pay more attention to the frames, type of haircut they have, or how they keep their nails than I do on lenses anyway.

Same. I had to have mine readjusted (the span for reading was far too little so I had to crane my head to read!). After I explained the problem (I thought at first it was just me but it WAS the glasses and the amount they had designated for distance (too much) and reading (too little). The lab took them back and expanded the reading portion higher up.

They do take some getting used to, but I love them now!

Trying to muster the energy to clean....but really wanting to watch Grey's Anatomy. The struggle is real

Jesse 01-24-2017 09:00 AM

Are you able to use yours while using a computer? This is the worst part for me, because apparently progressive lenses assume one is looking down to read, which is not true when using a monitor.

Kätzchen 01-24-2017 02:44 PM

My Cuban Honey Bunny spent all day and night, last Sunday, making me swooOooOoon ..... so, I called my favorite taxi driver who listens to the coolest music ever and asked her to make a special mix for me, to give to him on Valentines day. He's gonna swoon like he has never swooned before. I love surprising him when he least expects it (lolol  ).

cinnamongrrl 01-24-2017 05:24 PM

Recovering from a tough hike. It was longer than I thought, was slick from mud and had lots of loose rocks. I may be more mentally drained than physically. But omg... What a VIEW.

The Sun started setting while we were up there so I feel lucky to have found a very good gravel road to loop out on. Plus it took us on the front face of the mountain for a different perspective.

Now time to shower (and thaw) so I can get to work

theoddz 01-24-2017 05:30 PM

I am waiting for the casino to pay me for a royal flush I just hit for $8000.

Yes I'm able to see well using progressives when on the computer. When they prescribe and make progressives they take into account what things you'll most often be using your glasses for. I actually have an easier time seeing when looking forward at my desktop monitor straight on than I do looking down at the screen my son's laptop.

Gemme 01-25-2017 06:20 AM

Waking up and dragging a little bit since I went to bed late.
