Feeling lifted suddenly and thinking to myself. I hope my feelings and thoughts rippled far enough.

Today at work I was helping a customer at the service desk, she had a broken arm and was lugging around a huge coffee pot. The odd thing was that I had thought she looked very familiar. It finally clicked that she looked JUST LIKE my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Sewell. So I finally got up the nerve to ask if it was her, and indeed it was! She had a huge smile and couldn't believe that I remembered her. I explained that still to this day if anyone were to ask who my favorite teacher was in elementary, I would say her name. It was a fun moment.

Well heck...all the talk about teachers..I did get to, finally, meet up with my 2nd grade teacher. Thanks to her coming to my work again. i was there. I met her at the door she was knocking on. I opened it for her and we embraced for a long time with my foot jamming the weight of the door. Didn't even get past the door after many hugs. 82 years old and boy does she still look good. skinny though, too skinny! she has a beau and its so nice to see her. i love her. Been busy. I have her number and hope to see her again cause I have to get her flowers, yet.

These make me smile today! Handmade, old style... leather feels and fits like a glove boots. Made in USA too. I want more pairs now. High priced suckers though. Recommend as gift to self.

One of my kindergartners asking me to hold her. Babies, lots and lots of babies to hold. Toothless smiles. Families gathering regardless of social economical status, race and religious practices. *S

Hearing that my friends who were evacuated are headed home to their non-burnt house
The little sweet Dachshund Sasha greeting me when I got to the no kill shelter today and she just walked up tail wagging, and fell down and rolled over for me to rub her little belly, and the whole time I rubbed her belly her tail wagged

And the new male Orange Tabby Archie who opened up to me and let me pet him and length- he's coming along well

THIS made me smile today. I'm a sap for kids, and they spot me a mile away-- "Hey! I bet I can wrap HIM around my finger!"

The most wonderful thing about kids is they start off unblemished. They don't care if their friends are rich or poor as long as they are a good sport during hide-n-seek and are willing to share the crayons. Religion is hardly ever even a factor, and it doesn't bother most kids-- it bothers some parents because they see the discussion as an inconvenience rather than a learning opportunity with their children. And race? Kids are born "color blind" on such matters, and the world would be a better place if we all either remained as such... or more difficult, but desirable: learn to... wait for it... wait for it... ACCEPT each other.

As jacked up as the world is, kids still give me hope that God's still listening.

Her voice, my letting my guard down

Long phone discussions about anything, everything, and nothing at all... the sound of the other person breathing, so soothing, so calming, that you drift off to sleep listening to each other breathe... and her soft laugh when you stir, realizing that you did it, and apologizing only to find that she found it-- not rude but-- rather endearing that you were so comfortable with her that you fell asleep.

I never let my guard down with people. I'll open up to a select few, and have with her, but... wow. We were talking, then we were listening to each other breathe, and then....

Fortunately, I don't snore.

Reading a number of posts here. They are not really posts but tales of life and love. You all share such beauty and create such love. You have all added to the smile today in a bug way. Hugs

I get really down sometimes, and feel as though I don't fit in/belong anywhere. I'm the painfully shy, brutally awkward and slightly agoraphobic girl out in the actual face-to-face world. Then I have some amazing friends who do their best to (metaphorically) beat some sense into me...lol It makes me realize and remember that most of the shit is all in my head, and that there really are places and people that I fit with. I am loved. :)
