Couldn't think of a good place to post this... but it was an enjoyable short piece to watch. I think it speaks to exercise and meditation, as well as finding your folly. Definitely speaks to why I enjoy snowboarding so much!

So, I have been pretty consistent with two brisk walks with the dog each day. In fact, I think the dog might even be a bit tired of walking. My Nike Fuel band said I hit my goal every day except one since I purchased it. Until the band died. Yeah, just doesn't turn on. I can take back to the store this weekend.

You charged it, right?

I am up to the usual, beach walking and doing (kinda) my PT. The wind has been really blowing the last two days and I'll be glad when it stops. Dries out my eyeballs.

I'm trying out a new tracker too, except mines easier, I just sleep. It's called Sleep Cycle and it's pretty cool. It tracks when you are in your best sleep cycles for waking or staying asleep and will wake you when you will feel most rested instead of when it will just feel like a freight train hit you.

I like seeing when I am getting my best rest although I can now see that the last couple of hours are pretty inefficient. I have to wait until there are 5 nights of data and then it will give a "quality" rating. You have a lot of flexibility with how it works EXCEPT a function I would really like. I want to be able to say 'wake me at the end of three deep rem cycles when I'm coming out of it.' I could get 80% of my good rest in 4.5 hours. I'm surprised it doesn't do that but I will probably figure a workaround.

It isn't a device, it's an app for iphone that utilizes the on board accelerometer. 0.99 It says it's optimized for iphone 5 but it's fine on my 4s.

I thought about working out today. That's about as strenuous as it got.

Well, I also dragged a couple of square sections of rubber flooring from a customer's old gym into my apartment and found a place for them. Now, to clean them up and go to town on them.

But not tonight.

ProfPacker 05-20-2014 05:24 PM

Because of my new schedule I have decided that the only way I can exercise during the week is to do an hour at the gym almost daily of something, as long asI get the hour in. Yesterday one hour of cardio and machines. Today, one hour of swimming, cardio and machines, Thursday swimming, etc. Friday either day off or exercise of my choice. Haven't figured out the weekend schedule yet. Depends on whatever else I have planned.

Kelt 05-20-2014 06:18 PM

Well, I've been working my way back up again and today I hit 5 miles on the beach!

30 minutes on the stairmaster (45/50 intervals)

When I'm sleep deprived, it's hard to get myself to go to the gym. But then once I throw myself onto the Stairmaster and set the stats, then there's nothing to do but go. Afterwards, of course, I feel great.

I cleaned half of a 6 room house in 4 hours....and cleaned it well. As far as Im concerned, it counts as exercise!

Then I did a step workout with weights while I watch America Unearthed (awesome show for archaeology lovers!)
I found a great way to work my hip flexors; stand on top of the step and step off the front with a small knee dip...you feel it in that thigh and in the supporting leg/hip flexor on the way up. As a chronic hiker, I need all the strength I can get in my hips Oand knees...and thighs...and.....)

Again, cycling here there and everybloodywhere as the sun brings more things to do and more people to see.

Because walking is harder for the ole damaged lungs I think I need to do more of it, when I don't have to be anywhere in particular.
I was horrified by the quad pain (front of thighs) after walking up a bit of a hill. I used to hike up mountains and walk everywhere before the lung thang came to stay.

I thought about Gemme and nycfem today.

At PT, the therapist had me on the treadmill for the first time.

I did a big 10 minutes and burned 50 calories!

Ha!

:cheesy:

candy_coated_bitch 05-21-2014 09:17 PM

I did a little extra walking today when I was in town. And when I say a little extra, Anya may have me beat with her 50 calories. But the one thing that made it fun was that I walked for the first time in the rainbow crosswalk that they painted for pride. I walked across it twice and I felt very, very gay.

cinnamongrrl 05-22-2014 04:47 AM

at long last....I started my day off with yoga :)

my dvd went awol....so I got another (different) one....then figured out how to connect my dvd player....since my laptop crapped out.....opened the dvd player this morning...and there was my missing dvd! My daughter must've popped it in and didnt tell me......thanks Rissa :)

now Im off for a cleaning job....a tedious one....but I consider it paid exercise :)

ProfPacker 05-22-2014 02:02 PM

keeping to the schedule I set for myself. yesterday one hour on the elliptical and machines (working hard on abs and arms) today one hour of swimming. Not sure if I am going to take a day off from the gym tomorrow and get my exercise cleaning the apartment or do double exercise: gym and cleaning the apartment

traumaqueen 05-22-2014 02:24 PM

Hit the slopes for a few hours, enjoying the sun and the super dooper late season snowboarding!

Today was a good day.

cinnamongrrl 05-22-2014 06:38 PM

I cleaned the kitchen and living room of a house that hasnt been cleamed in 6 months....

Seven hours....to clean 2 rooms....

It counts in my book....just ask my hamstrings...lol

ProfPacker 05-23-2014 06:38 PM

ok, I am obsessed about working on my abs and my arms. I want arms like Michelle Obama and abs like Naya Rivera. Of course one is in her 40's and has the luxury of working on her arms in the White House and the other is like 27 and has the luxury of a young body. But, I WILL get there

Cole 05-23-2014 07:24 PM

I'm going swimming later tonight - wahoo!

DapperButch 05-23-2014 07:24 PM

My Fuel band is working again. I don't know why, but it is. I thought I would try to charge it one more time and it worked. Who knows.

Anyway, I have continued to keep "moving" pretty well and I have been feeling more energy as a result. It feels good.

I am actually going to up my "Fuel Goal". It is too low as I can hit that number without much exercise if it is not a work day where I just sit all day.

Gemme 05-24-2014 05:05 PM

I walked some videos to the Redbox, for a round trip of a little over a mile.

DapperButch 05-24-2014 05:55 PM

I waxed my mid-sized SUV. Notice I did not say wash. The car wash did that.

Took me two hours for the wax. I was going to clay it first, but forgot my clay lubricant at home. :| It was nice to save a couple hours, though!

I will take the dog on a 20-40 minutes walk later.

I also ate a charbroiled hot dog. I have one once a year.
