Last time I looked it was 92*,it's also muggy with mosquitoes ,all the rain we had has given us a super crop of the little buggers. I called the city mosquito control to get them to come spray the neighborhood.

It's raining, it's pouring.....

RockOn 07-08-2015 08:45 PM

the heat and humidity have been somewhere
between "OMG" and "WTF "

I did a safe live capture and release on a little teenager opossum who keeps sneaking in my house. I leave my back door cracked for one of my dogs who won't come back inside in a timely manner at the end of last call pee break around 10:00 p.m.... that is how he keeps getting in. I had to relocate him ... far far from my place. Putting him back over the back fence proves futile. Took him to work yesterday. He was a big hit except for 2 snickety women. I left a little early and took him to a wooded area with ponds. I walked a great distance carrying his cage and I was drenched when I found the perfect spot to give him his freedom. Even my underwear and socks were soaked. It feels like you are breathing in steam.

I HATE SUMMER!!!! I MEAN I FUCKING WELL HATE SUMMER!!!!

I reached into my very deep trouser pocket to get my phone for one last photo of teenager opossum and my hand got stuck in my pocket trying to pull the phone out. Pockets were wet, arms and hands were wet ...

that is my weather here in gulf coast area
(missing the little opossum a bit ... he was kind of cute :) )

It is dark as ink outside. We are preparing for severe thunderstorms and it has been raining all day.

I am starting to think there is something wrong with me - because I could live in this kind of weather for at least most of the year. :| . Ok well I would need some snow at Christmas ... but other than that. :glasses:

We are in the middle of a severe thunderstorm with a flash flood warning. I love it when it gets dark like this and everything is washed clean. You open the window and the world smells fresh.. for a minute. :|

LA/OC area: raining all afternoon and evening! Rained yesterday afternoon too! The temp in our town was 85 today and we are not even inland.

I actually got my car washed on Thursday because it was filthy and I hadn't washed it in at least 3 months.

Ha!

Anyway, besides the awful heat and humidity, the rain is a beautiful sight and we are lucky to get it- except for mudslides, a bridge collapsing, power outages, etc.

LA TIMES today:

"Rain, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunder and lightning, fell over Southern California on Sunday, the second wave of a rare summer storm system that brought a weekend of beach closures, power outages and warm, muggy air to the parched region.

Particularly hard hit Sunday afternoon were Desert Center — where a bridge washed out on Interstate 10, closing the freeway in both directions — and Moreno Valley, where firefighters worked to keep mud out of half a dozen homes.

July rain is so unusual in Southern California that the storm broke a number of records for the month. The 0.36-inch that fell in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday set a record for the most rainfall in July, surpassing the quarter-inch that fell in July 1886, said National Weather Service meteorologist David Sweet."

MsTinkerbelly 07-20-2015 12:16 AM

I'm out in the area Anya mentioned before, and it has rained for 2 days straight. As much as the rain is desperately needed in California, we don't need all of it right now!

My pond is at the edge, and if it gets higher I will have to run the pump out into the rain soaked yard, or the fish will be swimming in the grass.

It never rains in California...la la la
