I saw two movies this weekend. One was this:

It was light and funny and sweet.

The other was this one:

It was so incredibly hard to watch. This is my history. My home. My people. It's a bizarre feeling to feel pride and shame at the same time. It's a fantastic movie. Be prepared for some heavy stuff though. This is American history, after all, and it's not pretty.

JDeere 10-31-2016 10:25 PM

The Conjuring 2.

I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Still spooky but not like the first one.

Talon 11-01-2016 11:42 PM

I watched a very scary movie on Netflix called 'Hush'.
Not advisable to watch it by yourself.... Creepy:vigil:

The Conjuring is scary because it's based on a true story. It happened in RI.
That couple also consulted on the Amityville haunting.👻

Gemme 11-11-2016 07:31 PM

I watched two movies today.

This one was very strange. What else can you say about a movie that has a man riding another man like a jet ski, using the first man's flatulence as a propellant?

This movie was good. The acting won't garner any Oscars but the dancing was solid and the final routine was fantastic.

Gemme 11-12-2016 09:41 AM

I watched this movie today.

It would have been spectacular in the theatre but it was still quite the movie. I love Margot Robbie and that she likes to portray sassy and spunky characters. Jane should be strong willed anyway.

Loved it.

I just watched The Last Waltz for probably the 10th time in my life.

It is on Amazon Prime.

I love that at the very beginning of the movie, in all caps, it says:

THIS MOVIE SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD!

It is my all-time favorite concert movie.

Free State of Jones

Based on a true story of "Newton Knight, a poor white farmer who led an extraordinary rebellion during the Civil War. With a company of like-minded white men in southeast Mississippi, he did what many Southerners now regard as unthinkable. He waged guerrilla war against the Confederacy and declared loyalty to the Union."

It's as heart breaking as it is inspirational...and fit my mood perfectly

Loving

Not sure why this was so scarce once it was released. Of course it made me think of our own struggle with marriage rights as well. I sniffled during a few scenes.

I've watched a plethora of movies in the past couple of weeks. Some of them include the following:

If you like Madea movies, you'll like this one.

This one is as adorable as you think it is!

Good action flick. Reminded me of the Incredible Hulk TV show a little bit, though.

Very good. I enjoyed it immensely. I liked the couple of twists it had. Very nice.

This is based on a real man's life and his faith choice. It's strong and powerful and heartbreaking and spirit building, all at once.

Gemme 11-25-2016 08:53 AM

I saw this yesterday and it was fantastic. Really!!!

This movie is rich in visual appeal as well as having a solid storyline. JK Rowling does it again!

Dear Wife and I also saw this flick last night, after our Thanksgiving gathering and meal at our house. We were both truly amazed at how much we both liked this movie.

cinnamongrrl 11-27-2016 01:43 PM

I rented the movie about Ernest Hemingway, Papa. I rented it from Red box. I love it thus far.

legally_b10nde 11-27-2016 01:58 PM

Finally saw Fantastic beasts & where to find them.... Definitely fantastic!

Moana. I am usually missing the old school style animation, but this one was beautiful with a good story and a theme that I loved. I think she is one of my favorite Disney princesses now.

JDeere 11-30-2016 11:29 PM

The exorcism of molly Hartley.

I saw this a couple of day ago. It was really good even though it was kind of short, timewise. I also saw Bleed for This. I'm pretty sure it's a requirement for all Rhode Islanders.

Both are good stories about perseverance and believing in oneself.

cinnamongrrl 12-01-2016 07:23 AM

Finally saw Free State of Jones it was as good as I hoped..sad but good

Alive Inside (2014) Documentary

Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory, fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music's ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it.

If you have an aging parent or partner with memory lost this may be of special interests to you. I found it fascinating what they could accomplish with music therapy vs pharmaceuticals. This was a very moving documentary and I can't recommend it enough! :movieguy:

easygoingfemme 12-03-2016 06:13 AM

We went to see Moana last night (In 3d). It was Soooo good. Disney is starting to do some things right in regards to representing girls. The film was beautiful and the plot was fierce and we also loved the soundtrack. My daughter went on a tirade about how this better be the new "Frozen" with an actual real role model for girls to aspire for.

cinnamongrrl 12-03-2016 06:28 AM

I watched The Immigrant the other night on Netflix..

Joaquim Phoenix was in it along with a very pretty girl who apparently won an Oscar for that role...

Hands of Stone (2016) Stars: Edgar Ramírez, Usher Raymond, Robert De Niro

The story of boxer Roberto Duran and his equally legendary trainer Ray Arcel.I really enjoyed it:movieguy:

Sully

Wow, what a absolutely gripping film.
Love it from start to end.
Tom Hanks and the cast are superb.
This is a must see movie.
I would watch it again for sure.

jools66 12-11-2016 03:11 AM

Summertime

Hi everyone,
This is a French subtitled film.
But don't let that put you off.
The story is set in the seventies, and focuses on two women that come from very different areas of France.
I won't give any spoilers away.
This is a very good film indeed, and it's worth taking time out one evening to watch it.
You can find the trailer on YouTube.
If you watch it, I hope you like it.

Fancy 12-13-2016 08:42 AM

Eagle Huntress - well done documentary/movie. We were cheering along; yes, actually making noise in the theater. It left us with several logistical/timing questions, but overall the entire family loved it.

Gemme 12-13-2016 08:47 PM

Technically, it was Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's a gritty, rough movie but 50 cent made a nice appearance as a tech savvy reformed thug.

Gemme 12-16-2016 06:47 PM

I saw this tonight.

If it's not nominated for a few academy awards, I will be totally shocked. Phenomenal story, touching performances and a few twists and turns make it a great film.

As a side note, I was leaving and someone was pulling into a tight spot in front of my car (at the end of the row and they were coming in at weird angle because they drove past it, backed up and were turning right into it) and they hit the curb.

Instead of pulling back out and lining themselves up right, they kept trying to go forward, which was at an angle into the curb. About 8 inches high. Seriously? Irrational behavior like this is why car insurance is soooo expensive up here. I expected a young person to get out of the car after all of that but a full grown woman-maybe in her 40s-got out. With her kids. One of which was in sports shorts. Welcome to the NE on a snow day!

JDeere 12-17-2016 08:45 AM

Return of the living dead 2 from 1987!

Gemme 12-22-2016 10:04 AM

I saw these movies last night.

My take away? To live life with major piggy power.

Squee!

There's a twist that you aren't let in on through the trailers and though I knew it would be serious, it was a tad bit heavier than I thought. Well done though.

The Magnificent 7 with Denzel.....loved it.

"White Christmas " this morning on AMC

*Anya* 12-24-2016 09:14 PM

Just a lovely little Christmas Eve film...well, a different kind of Xmas eve, that is.

I was looking at Rotten Tomotatoes for a flick to watch tonight and found one with a 95% critic score and an 88% viewer score.

It is a Korean zombie movie.

You might think it hokie or cartoonish but you would be wrong.

I have been into it for 40 minutes so far, and it is non-stop action but with believable characters that I got invested in pretty much right away.

A review from IMDb:

"The best zombie film I have ever seen (outside of the comedy Shaun of the Dead). Such a great film. It starts exactly like a train ride gathering momentum and gaining speed. The only difference with this train ride is I didn't want it to stop. It has a brilliant script, fantastic effects plus a very good choice of cast and acting. It also has a 'credible' plot (as credible as you can get with the zombie genre). Many of the scenes will stay with me for a long time. I thoroughly recommend this very refreshing and fast paced film. Get a ticket and enjoy the ride!'

Watched Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with my family. My dad explained the story for me but I still dont get it... good movie tho!
